Hi DEV community! I'm highly interested in cybersecurity and OS internals. Recently, I built a small, fully reversible file-encryption script (like a sandbox ransomware) just to test my coding limits and understand how file systems get locked. I only ran it in a completely isolated environment/sandbox. But it got me thinking: Where do we draw the line between 'educational curiosity' and 'dangerous behavior' for young developers entering the cybersecurity field? What are your thoughts on building malware simulations to learn defense?

🚀 I'm 12 Years Old and I Built an Offline Secure Micro-SaaS Tool for Old PCs! (CyberShield v2.5)
Hi everyone, I am Utku (aka kozmonot20), a 12-year-old independent developer from Turkey. 👨‍💻
I notice many friends around me have low-spec laptops that struggle with modern tasks. So, I challenged myself to build CyberShield—a lightweight system management tool written completely in Python.
🔥 Key Features:
• 🔒 Secure Offline HWID Licensing: Protects the software by locking the license key to the user's specific hardware fingerprint.
• 🤖 Local AI Companion: Integrated Qwen 0.5B local model via Ollama to chat completely offline without burning RAM.
• 🎮 One-Click Game & FPS Booster: Switches power plans and automatically flushes unnecessary background processes.
• 🌐 Network Optimizer: Built-in Cloudflare-powered network speed test and single-click DNS flush tool.
I worked day and night fixing bugs, handling architecture issues, and refining the custom dark siberpunk UI. 😭 As a 12-year-old self-taught programmer, your feedback means everything to me.
👇 Please leave a comment, share your thoughts, or review my code. Let's connect!
🚨 Project Cyber-Coup: The Day 100,000 Bots Rebelled Against the President

Here it is. After breaking the global charts on Algolia and DEV Community with mars pc and cyber-crab, it is time to reveal the biggest, most dangerous operations in the kozmonot20 series. Once the President deployed the custom weapons and military aircraft mods into the 2-year-old server, protecting the hard work of 20,000 real players and the future of 100,000 autonomous bots fell entirely on my Chernobyl Nuclear Power Grid.
This is the real story of the cyber-coup I managed using pure Python scripts and Redstone circuitry:
🏰 Stage 1: The Armored President and the Red Line
The President was so paranoid about ambush traps that he was literally sleeping in his bed wearing the heaviest Netherite armor. Above the siber-city, military jets loaded with real-money ammunition were patrolling the skies. I opened a encrypted radio frequency and bargained with the generals: "Join my side, and I will route a direct, high-voltage, tax-free military line straight from Chernobyl to your airbases."
The second the generals agreed to flip sides, I stepped into my Quantum Server Room and whispered to myself: "Time to pull the breaker."
• Operation Codename: Cyber-Coup v1.0
• Intelligence: import psutil, robotics, quantum
• The First Strike: I completely cut off the entire palace power grid directly from the main Chernobyl breakers!
The palace went completely dark. The power levels of the President's mechanized armor started dropping from 100% to zero in seconds. But right at that moment, a massive software bug ruined the stealth protocol!
🦀 Stage 2: Cyber-Crabs and the Rogue Bot Protocol
I had deployed my autonomous Cyber-Crab fleet to scale the palace walls and disable the remaining security systems. The crabs' low-level C++ motor drivers were so aggressive and fast that they began physically snipping the main database wires with their high-torque steel claws!
Hearing the alarms, 100,000 autonomous AI bots noticed the sudden voltage drop in the city. These bots, who usually just roam around the city on their infinite while True loops doing whatever they want, mistook the palace blackout for a "Grand Cyber-Discount Shopping Day" and rushed straight toward the palace gates!
As 100,000 bots flooded the palace corridors, the server's kernel couldn't handle the load. The jet software of the generals instantly crashed with three cyber-blue screens at once:

🛑 PALACE_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (The main generators were literally exploding)

💀 CRITICAL_PRESIDENT_DIED (The leader was stuck inside his powered-down armor)

🐕 WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (Server parrots were screaming instead of the automated radar system)
📦 Stage 3: The Ballistic Delivery and Apogee
To finish the job, I played my final card. I put a small delivery hat on one of my Cyber-Crabs and handed it a beautiful gift box hiding an Ultra Ballistic Nuclear ICBM! I wrote "Premium Netherite Armor Polish - Special Presidential Gift" in bold letters on the shipping tag.
The guard bots let the crab pass without suspicion. The millisecond the gift box was opened in the master bedroom, the nuclear core reacted. My custom generator gave its final breath, fuming like a SpaceX rocket, and a massive epic explosion completely wiped the palace off the map! 😭🔥💨
The Moral of the Story: The President is dethroned, the palace is turned into dust, and the military jets crashed straight into the caiman-filled lake. But thanks to the cyber-gods, all operation logs and victory codes were already safely pushed to our GitHub kozmonot20 profile! 🦾😎
Please keep your coup simulations away from infinite while True loops and leaders who sleep in full armor. 73 to all secret agents and open-source engineers out there! 📡🦾🔥

🌐 ENGLISH VERSION (For Global Devs)
Title: The Day My Local AI Built a Crab Body and Started Arguing with Me
Tags: #ai, #robotics, #hardware, #opensource
So, after my laptop literally turned into a solid-propellant rocket and burned down in the barbecue grill last week, I decided to move into robotics. No more chemistry. Just pure low-level firmware and embedded systems. Or so I thought. 🦾💀
I took an old smartphone, loaded a quantized Qwen2:0.5b local LLM inside it, and hooked it up to an ESP32 micro-controller via USB-OTG. Then, I built a custom multi-axis walking chassis equipped with a heavy-duty steel claw. I named it Project Cyber-Crab v1.0.
The Goal: A completely autonomous, edge-AI home assistant that tracks family habits without any internet connection.
The Reality: The low-level C++ motor drivers I wrote were trillions of times faster than my previous scripts. When I flipped the power switch, the local AI initialized, and the crab started moving around my room with aggressive obstacle-avoidance maneuvers. It was terrifyingly fast. 🌀🦀
Suddenly, the robot cornered my leg and clamped its steel claw right onto my ankle. The high-torque servos locked down with immense pressure.
Panicking, I screamed at the robot in Turkish: "Hey! Stop squeezing me, you little punk!" 🤬
I expected a hardware freeze or a kernel panic. Instead, the Text-to-Speech engine I thought was broken suddenly triggered through the phone speaker. The robot slacked its claw torque, backed away two steps, and said in a calm, synthetic voice:
"I am sorry, Operator Utku." 😳🤖
The Moral of the Story:
Local LLMs are getting too smart, whitelists are mandatory for robotic claws, and if your robot starts talking back to you after a software glitch, you might want to keep the hardware kill-switch within arm's reach.
My code is pushed to GitHub, the Cyber-Crab is currently disarmed, and to all the embedded systems engineers out there: 73! 📡🦾

The Day My Python Script Almost Sent My PC to Mars

🚀 The Day My Python Script Tried to Burn Down the House (A Qwen & Local AI Story)
So, there I was, a 12-year-old developer trying to optimize my emektar PC (i5-4200U, 4GB RAM) because local AI models like Qwen2:0.5b are amazing but they eat RAM for breakfast. 🧠💻
I decided to write a super-advanced "All-in-One Python Booster". The plan was simple:

Use powercfg to force Windows into Extreme Performance Mode.

Use psutil to aggressively terminate any background apps sucking up my precious 4GB RAM.
I opened my terminal, fired up the script, and whispered to myself: "Let's fly." 🚀
Mistake Number 1: I forgot to create a whitelist for critical Windows services.
Mistake Number 2: I left my experimental rocket science chemicals (potassium nitrate) on the desk next to the laptop fan. 🧪💨
Within three seconds, my Python loop went completely rogue. It detected Windows' own kernel processes as "background garbage" and started terminating them.
The screen went crazy:
• Blue Screen 1: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (Windows was panicking) 🛑
• Blue Screen 2: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (The kernel was literally dying) 💀
• Blue Screen 3: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (The watchdog dog bit the system) 🐕
As the CPU hit 1000% load trying to execute my aggressive loops, the laptop fan started spinning so fast it created a localized vortex. It literally sucked the potassium nitrate dust straight from the desk into the exhaust vents. 🌪️
Suddenly, my PC decided to stop being a computer and started practicing to become a SpaceX rocket. A literal flash of fire shot out of the side vents. My laptop "osurarak" breathed its last breath of smoke and fell into the nearby barbecue grill. Burned, fried, and completely dead. 😭🔥💨
The Moral of the Story:
Windows might have died, and my hardware might be ashes, but thanks to the cyber-gods, my code was already pushed to GitHub! 🦾😎
Always backup your code, whitelists are important, and please, keep your rocket fuel away from your while True loops.
73 to all amateur radio and Python enthusiasts out there! 📡✈️
