Hey everyone!

I’m excited to make my first post in the developer community!

I’m currently starting my journey into open source and would love to learn from people who have already been through it.

I’m especially interested in opportunities like:

Google Summer of Code (GSoC)

Hacktoberfest

Contributing to real-world open-source projects

Finding beginner-friendly communities and projects

I’m still figuring out how to get started — from choosing projects and making my first contribution to understanding Git/GitHub workflows and writing good PRs.

If you have any resources, roadmaps, YouTube channels, blogs, communities, or project recommendations that helped you get started with open source, I’d really appreciate it!

Also, if you’re a GSoC/Hacktoberfest contributor or an open-source maintainer, I’d love to hear about your experience and any advice you wish you had received when you started.

Looking forward to learning, contributing, and connecting with everyone!
