      <title>We Tested How ChatGPT Mentions Brands — Here’s What We Found</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;We analyzed how AI systems generate answers when users ask about tools, products, and solutions.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The goal was simple:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To understand how brands appear — or don’t appear — in AI-generated responses.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Key observation #1: Mentions are limited&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In most responses, AI systems mention:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;3–5 brands&lt;br&gt;
Sometimes fewer&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This means:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Visibility is extremely constrained.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If your brand is not in that small set, it is effectively excluded.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Key observation #2: Position matters&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Being mentioned is not enough.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We observed that:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The first brand mentioned gets the most attention&lt;br&gt;
Secondary mentions have significantly less impact&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This creates a hierarchy inside the response itself.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Key observation #3: Consistency drives inclusion&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Brands that appear frequently tend to:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Be strongly associated with a category&lt;br&gt;
Appear across multiple contexts&lt;br&gt;
Have consistent positioning&lt;br&gt;
Key observation #4: Gaps are common&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In many cases:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Relevant brands are missing&lt;br&gt;
Lesser-known competitors appear instead&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This suggests that AI systems rely heavily on available patterns, not completeness.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Implication&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;AI visibility is not just about having a good product.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It is about:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Being associated with the right topics&lt;br&gt;
Being present across multiple sources&lt;br&gt;
Being consistently described&lt;br&gt;
How teams are solving this&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Some teams are now using tools like SpyderBot to:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Analyze brand mentions&lt;br&gt;
Identify missing visibility&lt;br&gt;
Improve positioning in AI-generated answers&lt;br&gt;
Final thought&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;AI systems are shaping decisions.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;And they are doing it with limited context.&lt;/p&gt;
