Strengthening Libre: Security and Optimization Updates

I’ve been working on improving Libre, my anonymous social experiment, and just rolled out several important security and optimization changes:

1.Anonymous Authentication via Firebase – every user now has a unique anonymous session, preventing abuse while keeping the experience frictionless.
2.  Sensitive Keys Removed – tokens (e.g., ipinfo) are no longer exposed on the client side.
3.  Advanced Anti-Abuse Filtering – stronger detection for offensive content, spam, and injection attempts (XSS, SQLi, flooding).
4.  Client + Server Validations – strict sanitization, input validation, and hardened Firebase Firestore rules.
5.  No UX changes – users still just tap “Start being Libre” to join.
6.  Scalability & Resilience – better protection against bots and malicious traffic.

Libre stays simple for users but is now much stronger behind the scenes. Feedback is welcome.

34M de lecturas en Firestore en cuestión de horas

+3,145,706% de incremento respecto a la semana pasada

Tráfico de hosting fuera de lo normal

Claramente no fue “adopción viral” sino un abuso intencional de la BD.

👉 Próximos pasos: habilitar reglas más estrictas en Firestore, limitar consultas, monitoreo en tiempo real y quizá algún WAF delante del hosting.

Lección: no subestimen la seguridad aunque el proyecto parezca “pequeño”. Los bots no discriminan.

I'm building a small welcome screen for my website libreantisocial.com — a space for radical anonymous writing — because I realized something important:

Since it’s not a social network, people don’t immediately understand how it works.

There are no profiles. No likes. No followers. No trending topics.
And in today’s world, that creates confusion.

Why a tutorial?

🗺️ New Update: Israel and Palestine Now Differentiated on the Map

In the latest update of my website, ISRAEL and PALESTINE are now treated as two distinct entities.

Although the United Nations only recognizes 193 member states (and Palestine holds observer status), from a technical and user experience standpoint, I decided to represent both Israel and Palestine as individual countries on the map.

✅ What Changed:
ISO Code: I used the standard country code for Palestine: PS

Names: Added localized names:

In Spanish: Palestina

In English: Palestine

Geographic Coordinates: Assigned approx.
lat: 31.95, lng: 35.23
so that it appears correctly in the app's map view.

This decision aligns with the platform’s values of inclusiveness and neutrality — offering users from all regions a more accurate representation of their identity and location.

LIBRE now detects visitors' countries more reliably — covering all 193 UN-recognized countries.
This improves future plans for global stats, language insights, and subtle personalization (without compromising anonymity).

🗣️ Language Filter (Spanish / English)

You can now filter the thoughts by language.
Helps users read what's most relevant or understandable to them.
For now, only English and Spanish are supported — more may come later.

✍️ Auto-Draft Mode

One of the most requested features: your text won’t disappear if you accidentally close or refresh the page.
Your current draft is saved locally (browser-only) until you publish or clear it.

🔢 Character Counter

A small but helpful addition: see how much space you have left as you type (max: 500 characters).
Helps with clarity and intentional writing.

Anonymous “echo” mode: old thoughts resurfacing at random.
Optional prompt suggestions for those who need a nudge to write.
