First Reactjs Project

This project was about the famous movie Star Wars and the instructions were to build a minimalist version of the Star Wars Databank with a “Read Later” or “Favorites” list functionality.

📝 Instructions

Use Bootstrap components, you need almost no custom CSS.
Take some time to understand the SWAPI.tech API, this will be our source of information, and we will be consuming this API.
Fetch the SWAPI people, vehicles, and planets, and display them on your application.
Declare a favorites array in your central store and allow the user to add or remove favorites.
In this project I learn so much, finally, with the help of the force I use all my power to make this work, using my knowledge of Javascript, ReactJs, Bootstrap, and HTML5. With the help of my teacher I was able to do this I think in a week.

The imposter syndrome was one of the things I battle along doing this project because sometimes the code does exactly what I tell them to do (nothing).

Working with React is not easy for me, people tell me that React is just like building something with little blocks, but is not just that, you really need to have a lot of creativity because the things you can do with Reacjs have no limits and this just makes me go beyond just the basic and keep learning and learning, not to be a master Jedi, but to just to feel comfortable to make a good product in the future and work harder every day.

Here is the Vercel deployment https://laln-starwars-blog-reactjs.vercel.app

and here you can see the code https://github.com/Linnovel/LALN-starwars-blog-reactjs

Let me know what you think and what should I improve and I believe I can improve a lot.

You know that all the programming languages are written in English, and if you are not a native speaker like myself, some times to times, you will encounter things like this.

This Visual Studio Code Extension is gonna save you a lot of time.

https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=streetsidesoftware.code-spell-checker

Give it a try and tell me if you like it.

How to make a Domain Generator

This is a project for my Bootcamp in 4GeeksAcademyVe

📝 Instructions
Create a script that generates all the possible domain name combinations from a list of pronouns, adjectives, and nouns, for example:

1  let pronoun = ['the','our'];
2  let adj = ['great', 'big' ];
3  let noun = ['jogger','racoon'];

Should generate something like:

1thegreatjogger.com
2thegreatracoon.com
3ourgreatjogger.com
4ourgreatracoon.com
5thebigjogger.com
6thebigracoon.com
7ourbigjogger.com
8ourbigracoon.com

💡 Hint
You’ll need to use nested for loops in order to mix the different values together.

Your tools: For loop, string concatenation.

There are two ways of doing this.

let pronouns = ["the", "our"];
     let adjs = ["great", "big"];
     let nouns = ["jogger", "racoon"];
     let domains = [".com", ".org", ".us", ".ve"];
     for (let pronoun of pronouns) {
       for (let adj of adjs) {
         for (let noun of nouns) {
           for (let domain of domains) {
             console.log(`${pronoun}${adj}${noun}${domain}`);
           }
         }
       }
     }
   };

And this is a For loop.

  window.onload = function() {
     let dominio = [".com", ".org", ".net", ".io"];
     let pronoun = ["the", "our"];
     let adj = ["great", "big"];
     let noun = ["jogger", "racoon"];

     for (let i = 0; i < pronoun.length; i++) {
       for (let j = 0; j < adj.length; j++) {
         for (let p = 0; p < noun.length; p++) {
           for (let r = 0; r < dominio.length; r++) {
             console.log(`${pronoun[i]}${adj[j]}${noun[p]}${dominio[r]}`);
           }
         }
       }
     }
   };

In the first example, I had some help, but the second was the initial idea.

Do you know another way of doing this? Let me know.

With only one website make your Github account stand out.

This is the way

With https://rahuldkjain.github.io/gh-profile-readme-generator/

this file has all the tools to make your Github account look prettier than your dog. Just fill in the information you think is more critical, fill in the links, and choose your programming languages.

https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:1400/format:webp/1*HVaq63geFKWbk0lL7SxNNw.png

When you are done click the Generate README

After that copy and paste all the information

And paste all that text in your Readme inside your Github Account, preview it, and if you like it just commit the changes and you are done.

This is how mine looks like

Hope this is helpfull to you.

Calling a Function

Functions are blocks of code that you save to be (re)used later; that specific fragment of code has a predefined purpose and it does a defined task. A function could receive some or no parameters to be able to execute and must always return something.

For example a function that calculates the area of a square would be something like this:

function calculateArea(length, edge) {
    return length * edge;
}

If you want to use that function to calculate the area of a square with

length = 3
edge = 6

You need to do something like this:

let squareArea = calculateArea(3,6);

The value of squareArea will be set to 18.

From Graphic Design to FullStack Developer

My name is Luis Linares a graphic designer who loves to create and design, but in recent years I realized that I don't want to spend my life just being a graphic designer, I want it more, so I start searching and I encounter this amazing BootCamp about coding, the BootCamp is called
4Geeks Academy
and I was not sure in the beginning, always the afraid of starting something in the wrong place, and not being able to finish what I started, after many hours searching information about the BootCamp I made my mind and started my BootCamp at
4Geeks Academy
, in the beginning, it was all so new, that I felt overwhelmed with all this new information, all this new world about coding, Javascript, HTML, CSS3 ( The Devil) what the hell is a
and how to center that goddamn thing, and after many tries and failures I felt so good, that I just not only design something, I just coded from zero, a literal creation from nothing. That was like a spark inside of me that me realized that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life and now I just making a blog about it.

Hope you like this silly story about me.

See you on the next one.
