Bad Apples — Instant Browser Games for When You Just Want to Have Fun

There’s something special about small games.

Not the massive AAA titles that require 80GB downloads, endless updates, accounts, launchers, and battle passes. I’m talking about the kind of games you can open in seconds, play for five minutes, and immediately feel entertained.

That idea is what led me to build Bad Apples.

Bad Apples is a free collection of browser-based mini games designed for one simple purpose: instant fun. No downloads. No installation. No sign-ups. Just open the website, choose a game, and start playing immediately.

Why I Built Bad Apples

Over the past few years, I realized that modern gaming has become increasingly heavy.

Even casual games often ask users to:

Create an account
Install an app
Accept notifications
Watch ads before playing
Sit through long loading screens

Sometimes you don’t want a “gaming platform.”
You just want a quick distraction during a coffee break.

I missed the old web gaming experience — the feeling of discovering a fun little game online and jumping straight into it within seconds. That experience felt lightweight, spontaneous, and surprisingly joyful.

So I started wondering:

What if there were a modern version of that experience?

That question became Bad Apples.

The Core Idea: Zero-Commitment Entertainment

The philosophy behind Bad Apples is simple:

Entertainment should feel effortless.

Everything about the product is designed around reducing friction.

No Downloads

You shouldn’t need to install software just to have a few minutes of fun.

Every game on Bad Apples runs directly in your browser.

No Registration

You can visit the site anonymously and start playing instantly.

No email forms. No login walls. No unnecessary onboarding.

No Learning Curve

Most games are intentionally simple and easy to understand.

You don’t need tutorials or complicated mechanics to enjoy yourself.

Short Sessions Are Okay

Not every game needs to consume your entire evening.

Some of the best gaming experiences happen in short bursts:

waiting between meetings
taking a study break
procrastinating for five minutes
relaxing before bed

Bad Apples is built for those moments.

Curated Mini Games, Not Endless Clutter

One thing I noticed with many gaming websites is that they often feel overwhelming.

Thousands of low-quality games.
Too many categories.
Too much visual noise.

Instead of trying to host everything, I wanted Bad Apples to feel more curated.

The goal is quality over quantity:

fast-loading games
easy-to-understand gameplay
satisfying replay loops
games that are fun within seconds

I’m especially interested in games that create an immediate “one more try” feeling.

Those tiny dopamine loops are what make mini games so addictive and memorable.

Built for Both Desktop and Mobile

A lot of browser gaming sites still feel stuck in the desktop era.

Bad Apples is designed to work smoothly across devices, whether you’re:

on your laptop during work breaks
using your phone on the couch
casually browsing on a tablet

The idea is simple:

if you have a browser, you can play.

The Design Philosophy

I also wanted the website itself to feel lightweight.

Many modern websites are overloaded with:

popups
autoplay videos
aggressive monetization
distracting UI

Bad Apples intentionally keeps things simple.

The focus stays on:

discovering games quickly
starting gameplay immediately
minimizing interruptions

I believe simplicity is underrated on the modern internet.

What’s Next

Bad Apples is still in its early stages, and I have a lot of ideas for where it can go next.

Some things I’m exploring:

better game recommendations
daily featured games
leaderboards
social challenges
personalized collections
multiplayer mini games
community favorites
hidden gems discovery

I’m also interested in experimenting with how AI could improve game discovery without making the experience feel algorithmically overwhelming.

The long-term vision is not just to create another gaming site, but to build a lightweight entertainment space people genuinely enjoy returning to.

Building Small, Fun Internet Products

One reason I enjoy building indie products is that they can focus on small experiences that large platforms often ignore.

Not every product needs to maximize engagement metrics or trap users inside an ecosystem.

Sometimes a product can simply:

make someone smile
reduce boredom
create a small moment of joy during the day

That’s the spirit behind Bad Apples.

It’s intentionally lightweight.
Intentionally simple.
And intentionally easy to leave and come back to anytime.

Try It

If any of this resonates with you, you can try the project here:

Bad Apples

I’d genuinely love feedback:

What games would you like to see added?
What makes a mini game addictive to you?
What browser games have stayed memorable over the years?

Thanks for reading — and hopefully Bad Apples gives you a few fun moments during your day 🍎

BrandMaker: How AI Is Redefining Brand Identity for the Modern Entrepreneur

Create a complete brand identity from scratch with our AI-powered platform. Generate logos, mascots, and merchandise automatically while maintaining visual consistency across all channels. — brandmaker.so

The Problem: Branding Is Broken for Small Teams

Let's be honest. Building a brand used to be a luxury reserved for companies with deep pockets and dedicated design teams. If you were a solo founder, an indie hacker, or a small business owner, your options were painfully limited:

Hire an agency — Expect to shell out 5,000–50,000 and wait weeks for deliverables.

5,000–

DIY with generic tools — Spend hours in Canva or Photoshop cobbling together something that looks "okay-ish" but never truly professional.

Buy a cheap logo template — End up with a design that three other businesses in your niche are already using.

The result? Inconsistent visuals across your website, social media, merchandise, and marketing materials. A brand that feels fragmented rather than cohesive. A first impression that whispers "amateur" instead of shouting "trust me."

This is the exact pain point that BrandMaker (brandmaker.so) was built to solve.

 What Is BrandMaker?

BrandMaker is an AI-powered brand identity system designed to help creators, founders, and small businesses build complete, cohesive brand identities — from scratch — in minutes rather than months.

Unlike traditional logo makers that spit out a single SVG file and call it a day, BrandMaker takes a holistic approach. It doesn't just generate a logo. It generates an entire brand ecosystem:

Brand Asset

What You Get

Logo

Unique, AI-generated mark tailored to your industry and style preferences

Mascot

Custom character design that adds personality and memorability to your brand

Merchandise Mockups

Ready-to-use visuals for T-shirts, hoodies, stickers, and more

Visual Consistency

Unified color palettes, typography, and design language across all channels

Multi-Channel Ready

Assets optimized for web, social media, print, and product packaging

The platform's core promise is deceptively simple: one input, one complete brand. You provide the vision. The AI handles the rest.

The Technology: How AI Powers the Brand Creation Pipeline

BrandMaker isn't just slapping together pre-made templates with a fancy interface. Under the hood, it leverages generative AI models trained on design principles, color theory, typography best practices, and brand psychology.

 The Generation Pipeline

Here's how the typical BrandMaker workflow operates:

Step 1: Input & Discovery You tell the AI about your business — your name, industry, target audience, values, and aesthetic preferences. This isn't a rigid form-filling exercise; it's a conversation. The more context you provide, the more tailored the output.

Step 2: AI Analysis The system processes your inputs against a vast knowledge base of design patterns, industry-specific visual languages, and current aesthetic trends. It identifies what combinations of colors, shapes, and typography will resonate with your specific audience.

Step 3: Multi-Asset Generation Instead of generating one logo and stopping, BrandMaker creates an entire suite of interconnected assets. Your logo informs your mascot design. Your mascot's style guides your merchandise mockups. Everything is tied together by a consistent visual DNA.

Step 4: Refinement & Export You review, tweak, and refine. When you're satisfied, you export everything — logo files, mascot artwork, merchandise templates, brand guidelines — in the formats you need.

 Why This Matters

Traditional branding is linear and slow:

Brief → Designer Research → Concepts → Revisions → Final Logo →
Guidelines → Asset Creation → Review → Delivery
(2–8 weeks, $5K–$50K)

BrandMaker compresses this into a single, iterative flow:

Input → AI Generation → Review & Refine → Export Everything
(Minutes, not weeks)

The time and cost savings are dramatic, but the real magic is consistency. Because all assets are generated from the same AI "brain," they naturally share a unified aesthetic — something that's notoriously hard to achieve when working with multiple tools or designers.

 Deep Dive: Core Features

 1. AI Logo Generation

The logo is the cornerstone of any brand identity. BrandMaker's logo generator doesn't just randomize shapes and fonts. It considers:

Industry semantics — A fintech startup gets different visual cues than a bakery or a SaaS tool

Scalability — Logos are designed to look crisp on a business card and a billboard

Versatility — You get variations for light backgrounds, dark backgrounds, monochrome uses, and social media avatars

Originality — Generated designs are unique compositions, not recycled from template libraries

 2. Mascot Creation

This is where BrandMaker differentiates itself from generic logo makers. A mascot isn't just decoration — it's a brand personality amplifier.

Think about the most memorable brands in the world: the Michelin Man, the Mailchimp monkey, the Reddit alien. Mascots create emotional connections. They make brands feel approachable, memorable, and shareable.

BrandMaker's mascot generator creates characters that:

Match your brand's tone (playful, professional, edgy, friendly)

Complement your logo's visual language

Work across digital and physical applications

Can become the face of your social media presence

For indie founders and creators, a strong mascot can be the difference between being forgettable and being followed.

 3. Merchandise & Mockup Generation

Brand isn't just what appears on your website — it's what people wear, stick on their laptops, and show off in selfies.

BrandMaker automatically generates:

T-shirt and apparel mockups

Sticker and decal designs

Social media templates

Presentation deck themes

Business card layouts

These aren't generic templates with your logo pasted on top. They're custom-designed mockups where your brand's colors, typography, and visual style are woven into every element.

 4. Cross-Channel Consistency Engine

Perhaps the most underrated feature is what happens between the assets. BrandMaker maintains a "consistency engine" that ensures:

Your Twitter banner uses the same color palette as your product packaging

Your mascot's expression matches your brand's tone of voice

Your merchandise designs feel like they belong to the same family as your website

This is the holy grail of branding — a unified experience wherever your customers encounter you.

 Who Is BrandMaker For?

BrandMaker isn't trying to replace Pentagram or Collins. It's designed for a specific type of user who values speed, affordability, and coherence over bespoke artistry.

 Primary Users

User Type

Why They Need BrandMaker

Indie Hackers & Solopreneurs

Need professional branding without agency budgets

Startup Founders

Launching MVPs fast; need "good enough" branding to look credible to investors and early users

Content Creators

Personal brands need mascots, merchandise, and cohesive social visuals

Small Business Owners

Local shops, online stores, and service businesses that need consistent branding across touchpoints

Side Project Builders

Weekend projects that deserve better than a hastily drawn Figma export

 Who It's NOT For

Fortune 500 companies with existing brand guidelines and in-house design teams

Brands that require highly specific, hand-crafted illustration styles

Organizations with complex stakeholder approval processes that demand bespoke agency work

 The Indie Founder Advantage

If you're building in public, shipping fast, and iterating based on user feedback, BrandMaker aligns perfectly with your workflow.

Here's why:

Speed to Market You can have a complete brand identity before your landing page is even live. No more launching with a placeholder logo you threw together in MS Paint.

Iterate Without Shame Because it's fast and affordable, you can rebrand as your product evolves. Pivoting from B2C to B2B? Generate a new identity in minutes. Your brand can grow and change as fast as your codebase.

Merchandise as Marketing For indie developers building in public, branded merchandise isn't just swag — it's a marketing channel. A well-designed T-shirt or sticker can start conversations, build community, and turn users into walking billboards.

SEO & Content Synergy BrandMaker-generated assets are perfect for the kind of content marketing that drives organic traffic. Unique mascots and visual styles make your blog posts, social shares, and product screenshots more distinctive and shareable.

 Brand Consistency: The Hidden Multiplier

Here's something most founders don't realize until it's too late: inconsistent branding costs you trust.

When a potential customer sees one color scheme on your Instagram, a different logo on your website, and a third variation in your product UI, they subconsciously question your professionalism. It's not rational, but it's real.

BrandMaker solves this by design. Because all assets are generated from the same underlying brand DNA, consistency is automatic, not aspirational.

 The Trust Equation

Professional Design + Visual Consistency = Perceived Reliability
Perceived Reliability = Higher Conversion Rates
Higher Conversion Rates = More Revenue

It's not about having the world's most beautiful logo. It's about having a logo (and mascot, and merchandise, and social templates) that looks like it was intentionally designed to work together.

 The Competitive Landscape

BrandMaker operates in a crowded space, but its positioning is distinct:

Tool

Strength

Limitation

BrandMaker's Edge

Canva

Easy drag-and-drop

Requires design skill; generic templates

Fully AI-generated; no design skill needed

Looka

Good logo generation

Limited beyond logos

Full brand identity including mascots & merch

Tailor Brands

Comprehensive branding

Higher cost; slower

Faster, AI-native workflow

Hiring a Designer

Fully custom

Expensive, slow, hard to iterate

Instant, affordable, endlessly iterable

DALL-E / Midjourney

Creative flexibility

No brand consistency; no exportable assets

Purpose-built for branding; consistent output

BrandMaker's unique value proposition is the combination of speed, affordability, completeness, and consistency — all powered by AI rather than human labor.

 Getting Started

If you're ready to build your brand, the process is straightforward:

Visit brandmaker.so

Describe your business — name, industry, audience, and any visual preferences

Let the AI generate your complete brand identity package

Review and refine until it feels right

Export and deploy across your website, social channels, and marketing materials

No design skills required. No weeks of back-and-forth with contractors. No five-figure invoices.

 The Future of AI-Powered Branding

BrandMaker represents a broader shift in how businesses are built. Just as AI has democratized coding (GitHub Copilot), writing (ChatGPT), and customer support (AI chatbots), it's now democratizing design and branding.

The implications are profound:

More creators will launch brands because the barrier to entry has collapsed

Rebranding will become routine rather than a once-every-five-years event

Brand assets will be generated on-demand for specific campaigns, events, or product launches

Visual consistency will be the default, not the exception

For the indie developer community especially, this is liberating. Your side project deserves to look as polished as a Series A startup. Your personal brand deserves to be memorable. Your merchandise deserves to be worn, not stuffed in a drawer.

 Final Thoughts

Branding isn't vanity. It's signal. In a world where anyone can spin up a website in an afternoon, professional branding is how you communicate that you're serious, trustworthy, and here to stay.

BrandMaker doesn't just give you a logo. It gives you a complete visual identity system that works across every channel where your brand appears. It gives you a mascot that people remember. It gives you merchandise that markets itself. And it does all of this in minutes, at a fraction of traditional costs.

If you're building something worth sharing, it's worth looking like you mean it.
