Almost all of them charge a monthly fee for it.</p> <p>I didn't want either, so I built <strong>Listener</strong>, a native Mac app that records a meeting, transcribes it and writes an editable summary. All of it runs on your Mac.</p> <h2> What it does </h2> <ul> <li>Records both sides of your meetings</li> <li>Transcribes on-device with Apple's speech recognition, and the text shows up as people talk</li> <li>Writes an editable summary with Apple Intelligence, on demand with a button</li> <li>No account, no login, works offline</li> <li>Native Swift app, $5 paid once, no subscription</li> </ul> <h2> Why on-device </h2> <p>Apple now ships speech recognition and a language model that run locally. That was enough to skip the server entirely. No upload means no privacy policy to trust, no per-minute cost for me, and no subscription for you.</p> <h2> Limits, right now </h2> <ul> <li>Transcription is Brazilian Portuguese only for now. The interface and the summary language can be English, but if you need English transcription, it isn't there yet. It is at the top of my list.</li> <li>It needs macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later on a Mac with Apple Intelligence.</li> <li>The summary is generated when you press a button. There is a setting to do it automatically, but it isn't wired up in the current build.</li> <li>The summaries are only as good as Apple's on-device model.</li> </ul> <h2> Feedback </h2> <p>I'm a solo dev in Brazil and this is very new.
