If you are a YouTube creator, you know how frustrating it is when your video chapters refuse to show up on the timeline.
99% of the time, this happens because of a tiny formatting error in your video description. YouTube's algorithm requires timestamps to be formatted perfectly (for example, you absolutely must start with 00:00). If you write "0:00" or just "Intro", the system breaks and ignores all your chapters.
Instead of manually typing and checking your timestamps every time you upload, I built a free, lightweight web tool to automate it.
The Free YouTube Chapter Formatter
You can access the tool here for free: https://yt-chapter-formatter.netlify.app
How it works:
You paste your messy, raw video notes into the top box (e.g., "intro 0:00, gameplay at 1:25").
Click "Fix & Format".
The tool automatically adds the leading zeros, formats the spacing, and ensures the list starts at exactly 00:00.
You click "Copy" and paste it straight into your YouTube description.
It runs entirely in your browser, requires no login, and has no pop-up ads. I built it to speed up my own workflow and decided to host it publicly so other creators can save time.
Hope this helps streamline your upload process!
