HustleMate AI: Turn Product Details into Sales-Ready Stories ✨

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle.

What I Built

HustleMate AI is a simple AI-powered product listing assistant designed for small-business owners, handmade product sellers, and aspiring entrepreneurs who want to promote their products online without spending hours writing marketing content.

Users can upload a product photo, enter the product name, price, and details, and generate a sales kit containing:

Catchy product titles to attract potential customers.
Product descriptions to communicate product value.
Social media captions to promote products on platforms like Instagram.
Relevant hashtags to help organize and promote posts.

The goal is to make digital marketing easier and more accessible for people running small businesses, especially those who don't have dedicated marketing teams or budgets for professional copywriting tools.

Potential users could benefit from a free basic version, with future premium features such as bulk listing generation and customizable brand styles.

The project uses HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a responsive interface with product photo previews, customizable product details, AI-generated content, and copy-to-clipboard functionality.

How I Built It

I built HustleMate AI using:

HTML for the website structure and input forms.
CSS for a clean, responsive interface with a purple-themed design.
JavaScript for handling image uploads, collecting product details, generating content, and copying results.
Transformers.js to run an open-weight text-generation model in the browser.

The prototype uses the Xenova/flan-t5-small model through Transformers.js to generate marketing content from user-provided product information. The model and its dependencies need to be loaded, and the first run requires an internet connection.

The uploaded product image is previewed in the browser; the current text model does not directly analyze the image. Future improvements could introduce an open-weight vision-language model to generate descriptions from product photos.

Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Small businesses should not need expensive software or specialized technical knowledge to create better marketing content.

Open innovation makes it possible for developers to experiment with open-weight models, inspect available tools, customize workflows, and build accessible AI applications without depending entirely on proprietary AI APIs.

For HustleMate AI, open-source tools provide a starting point for creating a more affordable and adaptable product. The project can evolve through community contributions, alternative models, improved prompts, and additional features.

My long-term vision is to make AI-assisted marketing more accessible to small sellers while giving developers the freedom to experiment, improve, and extend the project.
