Have you used online PDF editing tools recently? PDF is one of the most common file formats in the world, and we often need to create, sign, edit, or manage PDF files in our daily work.

Imagine you need to upload a PDF image, but the file is too large and the website doesn’t accept it. So, you search on Google: “How to compress a PDF?’’ and websites like PDFescape, Smallpdf, or iLovePDF appear in your search results.

These tools are helpful, but they also come with hidden risks.

Why People Use Them:

Easy to access: You only need a browser and internet.
Fast and simple: No need to download anything.
Many features: You can merge files, add text, sign documents, and more.
Hidden Dangers:

Privacy problems: Your PDF might have private data like bank info, ID numbers, or contracts. If the website is not secure, others might see your data.
File storage: Some websites keep your files for a while. If you don’t know how long, your data might stay online longer than you want.
Tracking: Free tools often use ads or cookies to track what you do.
Fake websites: Some sites may look real but can add viruses to your file or steal your data.
Note: Never upload a PDF file that has your personal information like ID, passport number, address, full name, mobile phone and so on.

How to Stay Safe:

Use local apps: Choose PDF tools that work directly on your device without needing an internet connection. This reduces the risk of your files being exposed online.
Do not upload your data: Avoid uploading sensitive documents — like contracts, ID cards, or financial records — to unknown websites. Once uploaded, you lose control over where your data goes and how long it stays there.

Recommendation:

Use SafePDF™
If you want a secure and private way to edit your PDFs, try SafePDF™. It’s a free, open-source tool that runs locally in your browser — meaning your files never leave your device. No tracking, no uploads, no hidden risks. Just safe and simple PDF editing.

More information at: safepdf.de

In the app description it is clearly mentioned that the files do not send any server and processed locally.

SafePDF™ is a powerful, privacy-focused PDF manipulation tool designed to handle your documents entirely offline. Whether you’re compressing large files, splitting pages, merging multiple PDFs, converting to images, rotating pages, or repairing corrupted documents — SafePDF™ does it all locally, ensuring your sensitive data never leaves your device.

hi, as a developer who uploads some PDF files to some online services such as government websites, your company cloud, visa websites etc.

Imagine, you need to upload a PDF image, but the file is too large and the website doesn’t accept it. So, you search on Google: “How to compress a PDF?’’ and websites like PDFescape, Smallpdf, or iLovePDF appear in your search results.

These tools are helpful, but they also come with hidden risks. (at least i feel like that)

Benefits:

Soooo, I have created a software i named SafePDF, now i realized many app named with same name but ok :P

It is a privacy-focused offline tool for PDF manipulation. You can merge, compress, split, and organize your PDF files securely without internet connection, your documents stay local and safe.

Some screenshots:
