We used general linear mixed models to analyze the relationships between colonization, and temperature and precipitation conditions. We found no significant correlation between AMF and DSE. The AMF colonization rate followed a significant longitudinal trend, but there was no latitudinal pattern. DSE colonization did not follow any geographical pattern. The AMF colonization rate was positively correlated with temperature and precipitation, whereas it was not significantly correlated with soil. There was no significant correlation between DSE colonization and climate or soil. Our results suggest that AMF and DSE play independent roles in the response of Artemisia to the regional environment. Therefore, studies on mycorrhizal symbiosis should discern the differential responses between AMF and DSE to climate and soil when evaluating the adaptability of the two types of symbiosis on large geographical scales.Organic biomarkers, as aliphatic hydrocarbons, are present in sedimentary organic matter and have been largely applied to the evaluation of recent environmental changes in the marine environment around the globe, including the Antarctic continent. Five sediment cores were taken in the Admiralty Bay, South Shetland Archipelago, Antarctica to evaluate changes in the signature of aliphatic hydrocarbons such as n-alkanes (n-C10 to n-C40) and isoprenoids as pristane and phytane, over the last decades. The total n-alkanes concentration ranged from 0.17 to 1.67 μg g-1 (mean = 0.74 ± 0.42) which is considered low and similar to pristine sediments. Aliphatic hydrocarbons present in the sedimentary pool came mostly from terrestrial sources as Antarctic lichens and mosses, and from marine sources as the macroalgae forest debris and emergent macrophytes. Anthropogenic inputs of aliphatic hydrocarbons (e.g., petroleum and their by-products) may be neglected based on the multi-proxy approach used to distinct sources of these organic compounds. In general, no significant changes in the sources of aliphatic hydrocarbons were observed along the sediment cores; however, an increased aliphatic hydrocarbons input registered between 1975 and 1992 may be related to the increase in meltwater runoff and the relatively high abundance of marine producers more adapted to increased sea temperatures.Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a family of chemicals widely distributed in daily use consumer products. Most of these products become municipal solid wastes (MSWs) after they have been used. In the present study, we examined different types of PFASs in leachate, fly ash and bottom ash produced from three MSW incineration plants in southern China. High PFAS levels were found in leachate (mean concentration 215 ng/mL, range 21.4-682 ng/mL) from the incineration plants, which indicated large amounts of PFASs in the wastes leached out. The average quantities of PFASs annually discharged from the leachates of the three plants were estimated to be approximately 384 kg (Plant A), 47.3 kg (Plant B), and 2.82 kg (Plant C). Relatively lower levels of PFASs in fly ash (mean 16.4 ng/g, range 1.46-87.6 ng/g) and bottom ash (mean 14.6 ng/g, range 3.11-77.4 ng/g) indicated that high-temperature incineration destroyed most of the PFASs. The wide array of PFASs concentrations in all three matrices illustrated that some PFASs-containing industrial wastes were still entered into local MSW. In general, short chain PFASs, including perfluorobutyric acid (PFBA) and perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS), were the primary PFASs in leachate samples. In the first one, we compared attentional engagement displayed by participants while they observed the same set of behaviors displayed by an avatar of a humanoid robot and a human. In the second experiment, we assessed the individuals' tendency to attribute anthropomorphic traits towards the same agents displaying the same behaviors. The results of both experiments suggest that individuals need less effort to process and interpret an artificial agent's behavior when it closely resembles one of a human being. The designs were implemented in a simulation of a medical triage task, to be executed by a domain expert and an artificial agent. There still exists the necessity to implement effective and economical methods of the primary and secondary prevention of voice disorders in teachers. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of comprehensive voice rehabilitation in teachers, conducted within a health resort hospital. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The results of comprehensive voice rehabilitation in 100 teachers with job seniority of 10-30 years (M = 17 years), conducted during 24-day-long staying in a sanatorium, are presented in this research. Phoniatrical and laryngological examinations (maximum phonation time [MPT], perceptual assessment of voice in GRBAS scale, laryngovideostroboscopy, and acoustic analysis of voice), self-assessment of voice (the &lt;/p&gt;

Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by acid-fast mycobacteria from the 
group. The disease spreads when people with pulmonary tuberculosis excrete bacteria when they cough, sneeze, laugh or speak. Prisons are often called reservoirs of patients with tuberculosis, posing a great threat to their staff. Longer working hours in prison and penitentiary facilities aid latent contamination among the prison staff. So far, there have been few works discussing latent tuberculosis infection issues among the prisoners and prison staff. &lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A total of 84 employees of penitentiary facilities located in the Lublin Voivodship were examined using the QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT-GIT) test which was approved for use in 2005 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as an aid in the diagnosis of &lt;br&gt;
 . The material for the research included blood samples collected using the QFT-GIT. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Positive test results of latent tuberculosis infections were found in 16.6% of officers. The highest percentage with positive results of tuberculosis infections was found among the surveyed single women aged 36-57, working in penitentiary facilities. There have been no statistically significant differences between the position of officers and the risk factors increasing the chance of the latent tuberculosis infection. Work experience and contact with inmates were found to have an impact on tuberculosis infection. &lt;/p&gt;

Med Pr. 2021;72(4).Work-related diseases that are not included in the occupational diseases lists have become a significant social phenomenon, generating increasing costs for the EU member states and for European employers. The impact they have on workers' health and claims results in a need to implement changes in the legislation, which in Poland is currently limited to providing protection and prevention of already established occupational diseases. In the review, a formal-dogmatic approach was used, in a manner of analyzing the current state of Polish legislation and court rulings based upon it. The Polish legal framework was compared to that of the 3 EU member states selected on the basis of their regulations concerning occupational and work-related diseases (Germany, Finland and Ireland). The presented arguments indicate the purpose of the need for a change in the Polish legal framework of occupational and work-related diseases in the direction of either the Finnish or German model. The current Polish law forces people suffering from those work-related diseases which are not recognized as occupational diseases to seek legal remedies under general provisions of civil law, which demands proving not only an adequate causal link between the type of work and the disease but also the employer's culpability, which puts the affected employee in a worse legal situation than those suffering from an established occupational disease. The provisions of the statutory law implemented in the Federal Republic of Germany provides a solution for a fraction of the abovementioned problems deriving from the referred differences in occupational and work-related diseases regulation, while the Finnish model, based on causality, instead of the legal definition of occupational disease as such, practically allows for a complete elimination of the problem.  Nursing involves numerous stressful situations, such as overwork, night shifts, responsibility for the patients' health, rapid pace of work, emotional demands, contact with suffering individuals, and patients' aggressive behaviors. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is an additional demand on the already demanding profession. Thus, the aim of the current study was to assess the character of the relationship between overwork and subjectively experienced stress, taking into account the moderating role of contact with patients and work in facilities dedicated for COVID-19 patients, and the strategies of coping with stress, including resilience, in countries affected by the pandemic to various degrees. &lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;It has been confirmed experimentally that miRNA expression can be regulated by nutraceuticals - macronutrients, micronutrients or natural products derived from food; thereby making dietary supplements immensely significant for targeting miRNAs having altered expression patterns during neurodegeneration or oncogenesis. In this review, we will discuss in detail, about the common miRNAs involved in brain cancers and neurodegenerative diseases along with the comprehensive list of miRNAs involved separately in both pathological conditions. We will also discuss the role of nutraceuticals in the regulation of those miRNAs which are involved in both of these pathological conditions.Among spices, onion flakes (OF) and black pepper (BP) are commonly used ingredients in domestic cooking; however, spices have been shown to be highly contaminated with pathogenic bacteria and bacterial spores. A novel method applying a treatments of Ozone Ultraviolet (UV, 255nm) and Infra-red (IR) light in different combinations was assessed for its efficiency in decontaminating OF and BP. In this study, untreated samples, as purchased, were inoculated with 9.5 × 105 cfu/mL Escherichia coli (MG1655) and exposed to each treatment alone and in combination of ozone sequentially followed by UV/IR, and UV/IR combined followed sequentially by ozone. A difference in response towards the treatment was shown among the types of spices, with a high efficacy for BP. Typically 3 log reductions were observed for ozone, UV and IR. The sequential treatments of ozone with UV and IR combined gave improved results than individual ones, with 99.99% of E. coli inactivation, and a shorter exposure duration with ozone (2.5 and 5 min) and UV and IR (2.5 and 5 min). The combined effect (ozone 2.5 min, UV and IR 10 min) yielded a log reduction of 2.69 and 4.20 for OF and BP respectively, greater than the additive effect of the individual treatments alone. The IR lamp was modulated to reduce excessive temperature rise. This novel prototype was shown to be very effective in decontaminating spices. Further studies should be conducted to validate the effectiveness of this method on decontamination of various bacterial strains. &lt;br&gt;
 The substitution of reference drugs for similar, new or existing drugs in the market is a dilemma present in daily dental procedures. In order to decide whether or not to adopt a new drug in relation to the reference, a clinical trial can provide the necessary evidence. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A total of 179 healthy volunteers (18-25 years) requiring extraction of mandibular third molars completed the study. Subjects were randomized into 4 groups right, left, Arteek-SP and Septanest. Allocations consisted of 4% Articaine hydrochloride with 110000 epinephrine. The primary aim of this randomized controlled trial was to determine whether the test drug Arteek-SP was noninferior by a margin of 10% in the proportion of patients with total absence of pain, compared to the reference drug Septanest in the extraction of mandibular third molars using inferior alveolar nerve blocks. Secondary outcomes included, hemodynamic parameters, volume (mL), pain scores assessed during one visit and reported postoperative discomfort assessed during 8 days. Noninferiority was declared if total absence of pain for both groups was equal to 0.9, with a significance level of 5% (P &amp;lt; 0.05) and power at 90% (β = 0.1) at 95% confidence level. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Arteek-SP was applied during the first surgery to 90 volunteers (50.28%) and Septanest was applied to 89 subjects (49.72%). Power law distributions, for example, project diverse natural phenomenon, ranging from earthquakes to heartbeat dynamics into a common platform of self-similarity. However, the behavioral repertoire of a species in its entirety has never been analyzed for the existence of such underlying patterns. Here we show that the frequency-rank data of randomly sighted behaviors at the population level of free-ranging dogs follow a scale-invariant power law behavior. It suggests that irrespective of changes in location of sightings, seasonal variations and observer bias, datasets exhibit a conserved trend of scale invariance. The data also exhibits robust self-similarity patterns at different scales which we extract using multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis. We observe that the probability of consecutive occurrence of behaviors of adjacent ranks is much higher than behaviors widely separated in rank. It is possible to obtain these ionomers with a fast, energy-efficient, high reaction efficiency and a clean method with microwave irradiation method. In this study, polyacrylic acid and its composite with nano HAp have been synthesized by microwave (MW) irradiation. The two-process parameters that were tested are MW intensity and reaction time. The polymerization was carried out at 110 °C up to 40 min and yield over 92% was produced in 30 min. The average molar mass of PAA was found as 11960 Da using a high-resolution mass spectrometer (TOF-MS). HOXD9 plays an important role in tumor progression as transcription factor. In the current study, we explored the role of HOXD9 in GC. Methods We predicted the expression and potential mechanism of HOXD9 in GC through an online database. The expression of HOXD9 was detected in GC and adjacent tissues, and then we analyzed the relationship between HOXD9 and the prognosis of patients with GC. In vitro, we investigated the effects of HOXD9 on malignant biological behaviors such as proliferation, migration, and invasion of the GC cell line MCG-803. In addition, we have initially studied the underlying mechanism by Western blot. Results High expression of HOXD9 in GC was predicted by online database prediction and implied poor prognosis. In the clinical sample, we confirmed the above predictions. In vitro, we found that knockdown of HOXD9 could effectively inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion of GC cells. In terms of mechanism, HOXD9 may activate the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway.  Fatty liver disease (FLD) is associated with increased risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and is associated with rising rates of diabetes and obesity. The prevalence of FLD is rising among Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) and Latinos. This study examined health literacy, knowledge, and risk factors for FLD among AAPIs and Latinos in Los Angeles. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Data from in-person interviews and clinical measures (body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage, and blood pressure) were obtained from adults aged 18-82 years at four health fairs from November 2018 to March 2019. Interviews assessed knowledge about FLD, access to health resources, and satisfaction with current physician. Correct responses to knowledge questions were summed to generate a FLD knowledge score. Linear regression models were used to examine the association between knowledge score and age, sex, and race/ethnicity. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A total of 102 subjects were AAPI and 33 were Latino. Over 65% of participants had heard of FLD but demonstrated limiteut FLD and its associations with HCC. &lt;br&gt;

The objective of the current study was to assess clinical utility of Prothrombin induced by Vitamin K absence-II (PIVKAII) in addition to AFP in patients with HCC. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We retrospectively reviewed 244 patients with documented AFP, PIVKA II and dynamic imaging of the liver. Using ROC curves, cutoff values for AFP and PIVKAII for HCC detection, tumor grade and microvascular invasion (MVI) were assessed. In patients who underwent liver transplantation (LT) for HCC, survival was determined using Kaplan Meier curves. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The median PIVKAII in healthy living donors was 28.6mAU/ml (15.9-55). In cirrhotics, the sensitivity of an AFP cutoff of 7.6 ng/ml or PIVKAII cutoff of 250 mAU/ml for HCC detection was 91.7% (176/192) and specificity was 62.9%(68/108) (p &amp;lt;0.0001).  In this study, we aimed to detect Succinate Dehydrogenase Complex Iron Sulfur Subunit B (SDHB) frequency in paragangliomas and pheochromocytomas (PPGL) with immunohistochemistry; compare with Pheochromacytoma of the Adrenal Gland Scaled Score (PASS) classification and analyse the differences between pheochromocytoma (Pheo), head-neck paragangliomas (HNPGL) and thoraco-abdominal-pelvic paraganglioma (TAPPGL) sub-groups. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A total 114 PPGL cases (73 HNPGL, 15 TAPPGL and 27 Pheo belonging to 112 cases) are included. Immunohistochemically, SDHB and Ki-67 are investigated and malignancy risks are determined by PASS classification. Results are assessed statistically with chi-square test and p &amp;lt;0,01 is considered significant. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;SDHB mutations are observed in 20 of 114 (17.54 %) PPGL cases, 3 (11,12%) of which is Pheo, 12 (16,44) is HNPGL, and 5 (35,71%) is TAPPGL (P &amp;lt;0,02). While 15/82 (18,29%) cases with SDHB mutations do not have a malignancy potential according to PASS classification, 5/32 (15,63%) cases has (p=0,73). TAPPGL, HNPGL and Pheo sub-groups have a significant difference between SDHB expression (p &amp;lt;0,02), malignancy potential according to PASS classification (p &amp;lt;0,0001) and Ki-67 proliferation index (p &amp;lt;0,0001). &lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Oral hydration is essential in older adults as poor hydration can complicate existing medical conditions and increase morbidity. Older adults in surgical wards are at risk of dehydration due to insufficient fluid consumption. The aim of this project is to ensure patients aged 65 years and above are adequately hydrated. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The current project was conducted over 7 months from February to August 2019 and involved pre and postimplementation audits to ensure compliance with best practice. The Joanna Briggs Institute Practical Application of Clinical Evidence System and the Getting Research into Practice tools were used as a guide. Audits were conducted at four surgical wards with a sample of 42 patients at each audit. The measures implemented include educating nurses on the importance of oral hydration in older adult patients and labelling water jugs to encourage fluid intake among these patients. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Nurses' compliance in monitoring older adult patients' daily fluid intake increased from 5 to 76% at follow-up audit (P &amp;lt; 0.05). In addition, the average amount of fluid consumed over 3 days increased from 858.23 to 1037.50 ml. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This project demonstrated a significant increase in oral fluid intake among older adult patients during hospitalization and their understanding of adequate fluid intake. Nurses play an important role in ensuring adequate amounts of daily fluid intake by these patients. &lt;br&gt;

 The purpose of the study was to evaluate patterns of fall-related injury through childhood and identify risk factors for more severe fall-related injuries with the goal of informing targeted prevention strategies for different ages. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The study population consisted of pediatric patients in the Iowa Trauma Registry from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2014, who sustained an unintentional fall-related injury (N = 3856 patients). Multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to predict injury severity. Adjusted odds ratios were calculated characterizing the relationship between fall severity and age, sex, race, and fall type. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;More males (62%) sustained a fall-related injury during the study period when compared with females (38%; P &amp;lt; 0.0001). Head injuries were the most common type of injury in the younger than 1 year age group (77%), whereas fractures were the predominant injury type in all other age groups, followed by head injuries. Those younger than 1 year (adjusted odds ratio, 4.0; 95% confidence interval, 2.36-6.90) and aged 15 to 18 years (adjusted odds ratio, 1.9; 95% confidence interval, 1.17-3.03) were more likely to have an Injury Severity Score of ≥16 than those aged 10 to 14 years. &lt;/p&gt;

 The relationship between pediatrician availability and emergency department (ED) attendance is uncertain. We determined whether children in counties with more pediatricians had fewer ED visits. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We conducted a cross-sectional study of all ED visits among children younger than 18 years from 6 states. We obtained ED visit incidences by county and assessed the relationship to pediatrician density (pediatricians per 1000 children). Possible confounders included state, presence of an urgent care facility in the county, urban-rural status, and quartile of county-level characteristics English-speaking, Internet access, White race, socioeconomic status, and public insurance. We estimated county-level changes in incidence by pediatrician density adjusting for state and separately for all possible confounders. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Each additional pediatrician per 1000 children was associated with a 13.7% (95% confidence interval, -19.6% to -7.5%) decrease in ED visits in the state-adjusted model. In the full model, there was no association (-1.4%, 95% confidence interval, -7.2% to 4.8%). Children benefited from differences in F0, VTL, or both cues at all ages tested. This benefit proportionally remained the same across age, although overall accuracy continued to differ from that of adults. Hence, although children's voice discrimination thresholds and speech in competing speech perception abilities develop throughout the school-age years, children already show a benefit from voice gender cue differences early on. Simultaneously, slowness curves of a numerical phantom were obtained using a finite element method (FEM). Dispersive curves were initially calculated in the corresponding heterogeneous structure. The subsequent identification of the effective parameters was based on a fitting process between the two sets of slowness curves. Then, homogenized coefficients were compared with reference results from a numerical method based on a fast Fourier transform for heterogeneous periodic piezoelectric materials in the quasi-static regime. A relative error of less than 2% for a very large majority of effective coefficients was obtained. As the aim of this paper is to implement an experimental procedure based on the proposed homogenization scheme to determine the effective parameters of the material in operating conditions, it is shown that simplifications to the procedure can be performed and a careful selection of only seven slowness directions is sufficient to obtain the complete database for a piezocomposite containing square-shaped fibers. Finally, further considerations to adapt the present work to a 1-3 piezocomposite with a fixed thickness are also presented.Passive acoustic monitoring has proven to be an indispensable tool for many aspects of baleen whale research. Manual detection of whale calls on these large data sets demands extensive manual labor. Automated whale call detectors offer a more efficient approach and have been developed for many species and call types. However, calls with a large level of variability such as fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus) 40 Hz call and blue whale (B. musculus) D call have been challenging to detect automatically and hence no practical automated detector exists for these two call types. Using a modular approach consisting of faster region-based convolutional neural network followed by a convolutional neural network, we have created automated detectors for 40 Hz calls and D calls. Both detectors were tested on recordings with high- and low density of calls and, when selecting for detections with high classification scores, they were shown to have precision ranging from 54% to 57% with recall ranging from 72% to 78% for 40 Hz and precision ranging from 62% to 64% with recall ranging from 70 to 73% for D calls. As these two call types are produced by both sexes, using them in long-term studies would remove sex-bias in estimates of temporal presence and movement patterns.Mitigation of threats posed to marine mammals by human activities can be greatly improved with a better understanding of animal occurrence in real time. Recent advancements have enabled low-power passive acoustic systems to be integrated into long-endurance autonomous platforms for persistent near real-time monitoring of marine mammals via the sounds they produce. Here, the integration of a passive acoustic instrument capable of real-time detection and classification of low-frequency (LF) tonal sounds with a Liquid Robotics wave glider is reported. The goal of the integration was to enable monitoring of LF calls produced by baleen whales over periods of several months. Mechanical noises produced by the platform were significantly reduced by lubricating moving parts with polytetrafluoroethylene, incorporating rubber and springs to decelerate moving parts and shock mounting hydrophones. Flow noise was reduced with the development of a 21-element hydrophone array. Surface noise produced by breaking waves was not mitigated despite experimentation with baffles. Compared to a well-characterized moored passive acoustic monitoring buoy, the system greatly underestimated the occurrence of sei, fin, and North Atlantic right whales during a 37-d deployment, and therefore is not suitable in its current configuration for use in scientific or management applications for these species at this time.The modified rhyme test [MRT; House, Williams, Hecker, and Kryter. This study analyses the relationship among trade openness and macroeconomic outlook of Africa's regional economic communities (RECs), focusing on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Southern African Development Community (SADC). The study applies the Pooled OLS, Fixed and Random Effects techniques of estimation and the Durbin-Wu Hausman test for endogeneity to categorised secondary data from the World Bank's World Development Indicators (WDI) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) databases. The datasets are classified into three segments for comparative analysis, comprising the total, ECOWAS, and SADC datasets. The results show a positive but insignificant nexus between economic growth rate and trade openness in both the combined simulated ECOWAS and SADC and the individual REC. Finance is an important determinant of success and failure of housing ownership. It, therefore, becomes very necessary to identify viable sources of funding that can promote house-ownership. This paper examined the activities of Cooperative Societies in the provision of funds for house ownership in Nigeria with a focus on Akure. In the conduct of the social survey for the study; two sets of questionnaire were used. The first set of the questionnaire focused on House-owners and 683 sampled houses-owners were administered with the questionnaire in Akure. The second set of questionnaire was administered on the government officers' in-charge of the administration of the cooperative societies in Akure. The answers to the questions in the questionnaire were adequately supplied. The data were subjected to statistical analysis. The findings revealed among others that the main sources of funding house buildings were through personal savings and Cooperative Societies among others.
