To the best of our knowledge, however, there is a lack of information about preconception care practice and its determinants in southern Ethiopia, including the study area. This study was therefore planned to assess the practice of preconception care and its determinants among mothers who recently gave birth in Wolkite town, southern Ethiopia, in 2020. &lt;/p&gt;

 Neuromuscular disorders (NMD) commonly affect the upper extremity. Due to muscle weakness, performance of daily activities becomes increasingly difficult, which leads to reduced independence and quality of life. In order to support the performance of upper extremity tasks, dynamic arm supports may be used. The Yumen Arm is a novel dynamic arm support specially developed for people with NMD. The aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the Yumen Arm in persons with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and persons with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). &lt;/p&gt;

This study is one of the first studies describing a range of objective measures to examine the effectiveness of a dynamic arm support. Based on these measurements we can conclude that the Yumen Arm effectively improves arm function in NMD patients, however the effectiveness varies a lot between individual subjects. We provided detailed recommendations for the improvement of the Yumen Arm, and possible also for the development of other dynamic arm supports.       <description>&lt;p&gt;Systems epidemiology approaches may lead to a better understanding of the complex and dynamic multi-level constellation of contributors to cancer risk and outcomes and help target interventions. This grant portfolio analysis aimed to describe the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) investments in systems epidemiology and to identify gaps in the cancer systems epidemiology portfolio. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The analysis examined grants funded (2013-2018) through seven NIH systems science Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) as well as cancer-specific systems epidemiology grants funded by NCI during that same time. Study characteristics were extracted from the grant abstracts and specific aims and coded. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Of the 137 grants awarded under the NIH FOAs, 52 (38%) included systems epidemiology. Only five (4%) were focused on cancer systems epidemiology. Such analysis is commonly used to locate transmission lines, where the results could have major implications on project cost and its environmental impact. Experiments in solving biobjective shortest paths show that results are highly dependent on the parameters of the data representations, with exceedingly variable results based on the choices made in reclassifying attributes and generating networks from the raster. Based on these outcomes, we outline recommendations for ensuring geographic information system (GIS) data representations maintain analysis results that are accurate and unbiased.This study explored the effects of musical improvisation between dyads of same-sex strangers on subsequent behavioural alignment. Participants-all non-musicians-conversed before and after either improvising music together (Musical Improvisation-MI-group) or doing a motoric non-rhythmic cooperative task (building a tower together using wooden blocks; the Hands-Busy-HB-group). Conversations were free, but initially guided by an adaptation of the Fast Friends Questionnaire for inducing talk among students who are strangers and meeting for the first time. Throughout, participants' motion was recorded with an optical motion-capture system (Mocap) and analysed in terms of speed cross-correlations. Their conversations were also recorded on separate channels using headset microphones and were analysed in terms of the periodicity displayed by rhythmic peaks in the turn transitions across question and answer pairs (Q+A pairs). Compared with their first conversations, the MI group in the second conversations showed (a) a very rapid, partially simultaneous anatomical coordination between 0 and 0.4 s; (b) delayed mirror motoric coordination between 0.8 and 1.5 s; and (c) a higher proportion of Periodic Q+A pairs. In contrast, the HB group's motoric coordination changed slightly in timing but not in degree of coordination between the first and second conversations, and there was no significant change in the proportion of periodic Q+A pairs they produced. These results show a convergent effect of prior musical interaction on joint body movement and use of shared periodicity across speech turn-transitions in conversations, suggesting that interaction in music and speech may be mediated by common processes. &lt;br&gt;
 Acne is a common skin disease that can affect a person's quality of life (QoL), self-esteem, and mood in an adverse manner. The aim of the current study was to assess QoL among Montenegrin pupils with acne. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This cross-sectional survey was conducted over October and November 2020 in four randomly selected secondary schools in Podgorica, Montenegro. All 500 pupils were asked to fill in a short questionnaire which included questions on age, sex, presence of acne, and for those with acne their duration and location, visits to doctors, presence of any other coexisting skin disease, and family history of acne. Only pupils who self-reported acne were asked to complete the Children's Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI) and the Cardiff Acne Disability Index (CADI). &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Self reported acne were presented in 49.8% (249/500) of all pupils. The mean CDLQI score of the total sample was 4.27 ± 5.13. Overall, the CDLQI domains that were most affected by acne were symptoms and feelings (mean score 1.49 ± 1.43), leisure (mean score 0.94 ± 1.72), and treatment (0.66 ± 0.79). The mean total CADI score was 3.53 ± 3.11 which was higher in girls (4.07 ± 3.11) than in boys (2.90 ± 3.00). There was good correlation between the two questionnaires (Rho = 0.76; P &amp;lt; 0.01). According to multiple linear regressions, higher overall CDLQI score was found in pupils with acne who reported other skin diseases, while girls, pupils who reported both acne on face and back, and who had any concomitant skin disease had higher CADI total score. &lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;BACKGROUND Video consultation (VC) is gaining attention as a possible alternative to out-patient clinic visits. However, little is known in terms of attitude, satisfaction and quality of care using VC over a face-to-face (F2F) consultation. The aim of this observational survey study was to compare the attitude and satisfaction with VC amongst patients suffering from colorectal cancer and their treating surgeons at the outpatient surgical care clinic in a tertiary referral centre. METHODS A patient-preference model was chosen following the concept of shared decision making. A total of fifty patients with colorectal cancer were asked to choose between VC- or a F2F-contact during their follow up at the outpatient surgical care clinic and were subsequently assigned to either the VC-group or the F2F-group. Attitude and satisfaction rates of both groups and their surgeons were measured using a questionnaire administered immediately after the consultation. RESULTS Out of the 50 patients, 42% chose VC as their preferred follow-up modality. Patients demographics did not differ significantly. Patients who use video calling in their personal life choose VC significantly more often than patients lacking such experience (p = 0.010). These patients scored high on both the attitude- and satisfaction scale of the post-VC questionnaire. Patients who chose a F2F-contact seemed to question the ability of the surgeon to properly assess their healthcare condition by using a video connection more (p = 0.024). Surgeons were highly satisfied with the use of VC. CONCLUSIONS Based on patient preference, VC is equivalent to a F2F consultation in terms of patient satisfaction and perceived quality of care. Shared decision making is preferred with regard to which contact modality is used during follow up. For easy uptake in other environments it is to be recommended to facilitate VC using the electronic patient portal.BACKGROUND This study was designed to investigate whether 3D laparoscopic common bile duct (LCBDE) could improve surgical outcomes in choledocholithiasis patients compared with 2D LCBDE. METHOD Propensity score-matched analysis was performed to balance the bias in baseline characteristic between two groups. RESULTS 213 patients underwent 3D LCBDE and 212 patients receiving 2D LCBDE were enrolled in this study. The operation time and blood loss in 3D group were significantly less than that in 2D group. After propensity score matching, a total of 114 paired cases were selected from the two groups. The operation time and blood loss in 3D group remain significantly lower than in 2D group. In the end, the subgroup analysis based on abdominal adhesion level was performed and it was observed that for patients with adhesion level 1 and level 2, 3D surgery could obviously decrease the operation time and intraoperative blood loss. CONCLUSIONS 3D LCBDE would significantly reduce operation time, blood loss, and conversion rate to laparotomy in choledocholithiasis patients versus 2D LCBDE. For patients with abdominal adhesions level 1 and level 2, 3D LCBDE could provide better surgical outcomes than 2D LCBDE.Formulation conditions have a significant influence on the degree of freeze/thaw (FT) stress-induced protein instabilities. It can be synthesized from deamination of L-tyrosine by tyrosine ammonia lyase (TAL). In this work, we discovered two aromatic amino acid lyase genes, Sas-tal and Sts-tal, from Saccharothrix sp. NRRL B-16348 and Streptomyces sp. NRRL F-4489, respectively, and expressed them in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3). The two enzymes were functionally characterized as TAL. The optimum reaction temperature for Sas-TAL and Sts-TAL is 55 °C and 50 °C, respectively; while, the optimum pH for both TALs is 11. Sas-TAL had a kcat/Km value of 6.2 μM-1 min-1, while Sts-TAL had a much higher efficiency with a kcat/Km value of 78.3 μM-1 min-1. Both Sts-TAL and Sas-TAL can also take L-phenylalanine as the substrate to yield trans-cinnamic acid, and Sas-TAL showed much higher phenylalanine ammonia lyase activity than Sts-TAL. Using E. coli/Sts-TAL as a whole-cell biocatalyst, the productivity of p-CA reached 2.88 ± 0.12 g (L h)-1, which represents the highest efficiency for microbial production of p-CA. Therefore, this work not only reports the identification of two new TALs from actinomycetes, but also provides an efficient way to produce the industrially valuable material p-CA.In this work, the process performance of three parallel anaerobic digesters was evaluated while treating emulsified long-chain fatty acids (LCFA) (i.e., palmitic, stearic and oleic acid) at two different organic loading rates (OLR) (2 and 4 g L-1 day-1). The digester treating palmitic acid achieved a biogas yield of 0.42 ± 0.05 L g-1 COD with a digester effluent COD of 2.3 ± 0.4 g L-1 and VFA concentrations below 250 mg L-1. Stearic acid showed lower biogas yield values (0.34 ± 0.05 L g-1 COD) with low effluent COD (2.5 ± 0.4 g L-1) and VFA concentrations ( less then  350 mg L-1). On the contrary, anaerobic digestion of oleic acid was accompanied with increased effluent COD (4.5 ± 0.7 g L-1) and VFA concentrations (2.7 ± 1.5 g L-1). As such, COD removal efficiency remained at 89 ± 1% compared to 95 ± 1% for the digesters treating palmitic and stearic acid. The actual cost of intake (food offered, consumed and left over) was calculated from 3-day weighed diet records at 7 and 12 months of age. BLISS was perceived as less expensive than traditional feeding (P = 0.002), but comparisons of actual costs showed only small differences in total daily cost for food offered (NZ$0.20 and NZ$0.10 at 7 and 12 months, respectively), consumed (NZ$0.30, NZ$0.20) or left over (NZ$0.10, NZ$0.20). Baby-led approaches are not cheaper for families than traditional spoon-feeding.Estimates of body composition have been derived using 3-dimensional optical imaging (3DO), but no equations to date have been calibrated using a 4-component (4C) model criterion. This investigation reports the development of a novel body fat prediction formula using anthropometric data from 3DO imaging and a 4C model. Anthropometric characteristics and body composition of 179 participants were measured via 3DO (Size Stream® SS20) and a 4C model. Machine learning was used to identify significant anthropometric predictors of body fat (BF%), and stepwise/lasso regression analyses were employed to develop new 3DO-derived BF% prediction equations. The combined equation was externally cross-validated using paired 3DO and DXA assessments (n = 158), producing a R2 value of 0.78 and a constant error of (X ± SD) 0.8 ± 4.5%. 3DO BF% estimates demonstrated equivalence with DXA based on equivalence testing with no proportional bias in the Bland-Altman analysis. Machine learning methods may hold potential for enhancing 3DO-derived BF% estimates.BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Diet westernization in Hong Kong may increase trans fat intake, whereas it may decrease intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The present study was to determine the current breast milk fatty acid composition and trans fat intake by Hong Kong lactating mothers. METHODS Sixty lactating women were recruited for the study. Each participant donated 15 ml of milk at week 4 and 6 after delivery. Dietary data were collected using a 3-day food record method, covering 2 weekdays and 1 weekend day. Milk fatty acids were analyzed using a gas chromatography method. Trans fat consumption was assessed using the Nutrition Data System for Research or calculating the intake based on percentage of trans fatty acids in the breast milk. RESULTS Linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid, arachidonic acid, and docosahexaenoic acid in breast milk were 16.23%, 1.52%, 0.59%, and 0.66% total milk lipids, respectively. Mean daily intakes of total fat, saturated fatty acids, monounsaturated fatty acids, were 79, 24, 29, and 18 g, respectively. Total trans fat intake was estimated to be 1.15-1.20 g daily and accounted for 0.50-0.52% total energy. CONCLUSIONS Breast milk of Hong Kong Chinese lactating women contained relatively higher contents of arachidonic and docosahexaenoic acids compared with those of Western countries. Compared with the previous study conducted in 1995, breast milk total trans fatty acids in 2018 still remained low. While FeFum is commonly used to fortify infant foods, FAFe from FeFum in young children and infants may be decreased compared with FeSO4 and this effect has not been assessed in inhibitory vs noninhibitory meals. Previous studies also reported FAFe to be strongly correlated in mother-child pairs. Our objective was to measure FAFe from fortified bread labeled with 58FeSO4 and 57FeFum in mother-child pairs with and without a commonly consumed herbal tea of Combretum micranthum (Tisane Kinkéliba, TK). METHODS Senegalese mother-child pairs (n = 17) were randomly assigned to receive, in a 2 × 2 factorial design, fortified bread with 58FeSO4 or 57FeFum consumed with TK or water. FAFe was assessed by measuring erythrocyte incorporation of stable iron-isotopes 14 days after administration. RESULTS In children, relative bioavailability (RBV) from FeFum was 51 and 64% compared with FeSO4 when served with TK or water (both, P  less then  0.05). In mothers, the presence of TK decreased FAFe by 56% (P  less then  0.05) and 50% (P = 0.077) and in children by 65 and 72% (both, P  less then  0.0001), in the meals with 58FeSO4 and 57FeFum, respectively. After adjustment for plasma ferritin, there was a positive correlation between FAFe in mothers and children (r = 0.4142, P = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS In Senegalese women and children, herbal tea decreased FAFe from a wheat-based meal. Tenapanor cell line The RBV of FeFum was low in children but not in their mothers. We systematically retrieved articles from PubMed, Web of Science and the Cochrane Library to identify the evidence of nutritional support for well-nourished patients. Methodological quality assessment was assessed based on the Cochrane Handbook and GRADE. Nine randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and one non-RCT with 1400 participants were included in this meta-analysis. Nutritional support, particularly immunonutrition, was associated with a significant reduction in postoperative infectious complications (OR = 0.74, 95% CI 0.57-0.96), and a decreasing trends in morbidity and the length of the hospital stay (LOS) were observed. However, the mortality rates were comparable between two groups. The quality of evidence was moderate to high.  Decrease in cross-sectional thickness of lumbar multifidus (MF) muscles during prolonged low back pain episodes commonly occurs. Restoration of the MF muscle size can be an effective way of treating chronic low back pain (CLBP) patients. Traditionally, clinicians apply muscle stabilization exercises for these patients. Recent studies support the need for active strengthening exercises for treatment of the CLBP patients. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The MF muscles provide lumbar stability, and therefore we hypothesized that strengthening of these muscles can be more effective than the MF muscle stabilization exercises in restoration of the muscle size. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Study design was a randomized allocation control trial with two groups of adult female CLBP patients (n=12 each; age range of 20-45). Patients in the control group underwent stabilization exercises and the patients in the intervention group underwent the hip abductor strengthening exercises. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For all subjects of each group, the trials continued in 24 sessions distributed over 8 weeksses for effective treatment of female adults with CLBP is recommended. &lt;br&gt;

FDN was administered to one leg, while the other served as a control. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Limited acute effects of functional dry needling were observed (p&amp;lt;0.05). &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;FDN does not appear to acutely improve muscle function in healthy young adults. Although there were no improvements in muscle function, there were no adverse effects either, contributing to the safety of FDN healthy populations. &lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;The literature regarding the perception of the two-way relationship between diabetes mellitus and periodontal disease representing diabetic patients living in Australia is scarce. All samples were viewed under the SEM. Images at the coronal, middle, and apical part of the root canal were obtained at ×1000. A scoring system for smear layer removal and debris removal scoring was used for analysis. &lt;/p&gt;

Group I with 25 specimens was control group in which no obturation was performed, group II with 26 specimens was obturated by gutta-percha/AH plus sealer, and group III with 26 specimens was filled by Resilon/Epiphany. The method for obturation was cold lateral condensation. The samples were then stored at 100% humidity for 2 weeks. One random sample from groups as significantly higher in the present study as compared to groups I and II. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In the present study, Resilon/Epiphany when used to obturate the prepared canals showed a promising result both in terms of fracture resistance and adaptability to root canal walls. This paves a way for the use of this combination of obturating material not only to strengthen the compromised root strength in clinical scenario but also providing an increased sealing ability which will contribute to the success of root canal treatment. &lt;br&gt;
