I had no idea what I was getting into
coding.. programming.. engineering.. developing.. whatever you call it, is difficult. This is the field for a lifelong learner. Constant updates and more new information than any one person could ever know. The real skill is persistence: continuing steadfastly or firmly in a course of action, purpose, or belief, especially in the face of difficulty, obstacles, or discouragement. It embodies resilience, determination, and the refusal to give up, even when the odds seem stacked against success. Again.

AI has killed my coding career

I've got some negativity to get out. I paid a ton of money for this programming bootcamp. $8,400 to be exact. And now that I've got less than 5 weeks of class remaining, I feel like I've wasted it.

but it's all my fault.

Thoughout this course I've leaned heavily on ChatGPT. Helping me to problem solve, create starter files, debug, and coaching. Hell, it's even been a positive influence counselor when I've doubted my skills. However, leaning so heavily has crippled my knowledge.

How could such an incredible tool become so detrimental?

What I should have done, is ride the struggle bus early on. When I said "it's just a tool that we're supposed to use, it's a waste not to." I actually dug my own hole.

Now I'm in a situation, learning MongoDB, Mongoose, Express, React, Node.js, GraphQL, Typescript, Query, Mutation, typeDefs & resolvers with an insane amount of exposure. I've been overwhelmed with information for 5 months, so far exceeding information produced by the course. I've learned about processes and tools, tactics and libraries, languages and syntaxes, that I wouldn't have ever seen. I've had conversations with someone that has a much deeper understanding of these concepts than my fellow classmates can offer. I've learned a lot from ChatGPT, and I'm grateful. Now that I've had this realization, I'll be able to use my powers for good instead of evil. This post was written entirely by my human brain with no help from a large language model.

Acceptance criteria:

It is done when I have analyzed and identified ,
, , and elements in the index.html file in the prework-study-guide repository.

In this Module, I've learned about the <!DOCTYPE html> declaring to the browser to expect the following document to be HTML. Then I learned about how the language is set and the different elements of the
.

Experimenting in VS Code with the index.html file by changing the
in the - This actually shows up in the tab when the file is opened in Chrome, but the main title on the page still shows Prework Study Guide. (I went ahead and changed
in the to change that page title to match)

As a boot camp student,
I want a Prework Study Guide website,so that I can review all the information I learned throughout Prework.
GIVEN a Prework Study Guide website
WHEN I visit the website in my browser
THEN I see four boxes titled HTML, CSS, Git, and JavaScript with associated notes listed
WHEN I view the study guide
THEN I see a dark blue header and footer, and four boxes with a shadow
WHEN I open the console in my browser
THEN I can see the four topics I learned listed along with a suggestion on what I should study first
WHEN I visit the website using the URL
THEN I can access my website from any browser

I'm Moth, and this is my first post!

Hi, I'm Moth. A husband and father of two, I enjoy fishing, hiking, DIY projects, playing Fortnite with family, OSRS, restoring a 1991 Nissan 300zx. I'm an overly optimistic jack of all trades.

I'm just beginning my journey. One of the tasks in this course is to participate in the community. This is how I found DEV, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to meet and learn from each of you here.

This section of the pre-course work has a practice for pseudocode, here is my write up, let me know what you think! :
//Algorithm: Make the bed

// Tasks:
// Spread Fancy Yellow Comforter
// Fold Gray comforter
// Stack White pillows
// Stack Fancy pillows

// Pattern recognition:
// Yellow comforter goes on first
// Grey comforter gets folded
// Fancy pillows are stacked on top of white pillows

// Abstraction:
// Ignore pillow cases
// Ignore white sheet

// Sequence:
//1. Event 1: Spread the comforters:
// Conditional: If (a comforter is yellow) {
// Spread it on top
// } else {
// Gets folded
// }
//Debug: A comforter has a stain on it - what do we do?
// Conditional: If (a comforter is stained) {
// Put it in laundry
// } else if (comforter is yellow)
// Spread it on mattress
// } else if (comforter is gray) {
// Gets folded
// }

//2. Event 2: Stack the pillows:
// Conditional: If (pillow is stained) {
// Put it in laundry
// } else if (pillow is white) {
// Put it on bottom
// } else if (pillow is fancy) {
// Put it on top
// }
