NatureAI - AI Nature Guide

*NatureAI — AI Nature Guide 🌿

Theme: Touch Grass

NatureAI is a nature education web application designed to help people explore the natural world through technology. Users can select a category—such as birds, plants, insects, or other animals—and describe an observation to receive educational information.

The project aims to encourage curiosity about biodiversity, responsible wildlife observation, and environmental conservation.

Key features

Nature observation form with category selection.

Flask backend for processing user submissions.

AI inference integration using Hugging Face.

Educational guidance about possible identification candidates, habitats, and conservation.

Input validation and error handling.

Demo mode that keeps the interface usable when the AI service is unavailable.

Technology stack

Python, Flask, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Hugging Face InferenceClient.

Demo link: https://youtube.com/shorts/-7ISp0puPF0?si=nVVRe_c07HWQSLF5

Current status

The web interface and Flask application run locally. The AI integration is implemented, but live AI responses are currently limited by the Hugging Face account's exhausted inference credits. Demo mode provides a clearly labelled fixed educational response instead.

Future improvements

Integrate an accessible AI inference provider.

Support image-based nature observations.

Improve accessibility and mobile usability.

Add automated tests and conservation resources.

Goal: Make learning about nature more accessible while promoting responsible interaction with the environment.

I used python, HTML， CSS, JS and An open-source AI model from Hugging Face.
The user is supposed to describe the type of animal he/she saw and tap the "identify by AI" button to let the AI predict the animal info.
