I’ve been working nights and weekends for about 18 months on a side project called Jilfred.

The idea came from my own job search. I got tired of finding “new” jobs on LinkedIn/Indeed that were already days old, duplicated across recruiters, buried under promoted listings, or just not the kinds of companies I was searching for.

So I started building a service that monitors company career pages directly and shows new software engineering jobs based on things like company, location, and programming language.

It started as a tool for myself, but it slowly turned into a real product.

The funny part is the project actually helped me in interviews too. It gave me something real to talk about besides generic side projects, and I ended up using it during my own search to find my current role with CVS.

I’m opening it up now and would love feedback from other builders, job seekers, or anyone who has dealt with the software job search grind.

Site: https://jilfred.io

Happy to answer technical questions too. This thing has been a pain in the ass to build, but also probably the most useful side project I’ve ever made.
