Migrating off Civitai: a per-asset compatibility log for anime generation

"Civitai alternative" usually gets answered as a feature comparison: which platform has more models, which one is cheaper, which one has a nicer interface. That skips the actual migration question, which is asset by asset: does this specific checkpoint, this specific LoRA, this specific prompt, and this specific image survive the move, or does each one need to be rebuilt from zero. The same question applies whether you're weighing civitai alternatives as a category or deciding between a specific anime model community and a browser-based option for online anime generation.

So this is a compatibility log, not a review. One migration pack, five asset types, three destination platforms. For each asset, here's exactly what happened when it crossed over, with the settings and scores attached so you can reproduce the test yourself.

Full disclosure: this is a paid collaboration with PixAI. Every test here was run by me and every score is mine, and I've tried to keep this log useful on its own terms rather than as a pitch for any one platform.

 The migration pack

Built entirely on Civitai first, the way an existing user would:

Checkpoint: Illustrious-XL v0.1, an open-weights SDXL anime checkpoint from OnomaAI.

LoRA: a community-trained style LoRA built against Illustrious, run at weight 1.

Settings: Euler a, 28 steps, CFG 5, 832x1216.

Prompt: Danbooru-style tags, the format most Civitai anime models expect.

Image to keep editing: my best Civitai result.

Destination platforms: PixAI running Tsubaki.3, Tensor.Art running krea-2-turbo, SeaArt running Pie. All three tested on their free tier, October 2026.

 Asset 1: the checkpoint

What happened: Illustrious-XL v0.1 doesn't travel. It's a Civitai asset, full stop, and PixAI, Tensor.Art and SeaArt all run their own model libraries. There is no upload path for a checkpoint from one platform to another in this test.

Required change: pick each platform's own closest equivalent. PixAI's Tsubaki.3 and Tsubaki.2, Tensor.Art's krea-2-turbo, SeaArt's Pie.

What this means for your workflow: "finding the same model elsewhere" isn't the right mental model for any of these three platforms, or for Civitai alternatives as a category generally. You're not porting a checkpoint, you're choosing a replacement from a different anime model community and testing whether it does the job the original one did.

civitai dashboard

 Asset 2: the LoRA

What happened on Civitai itself, before any migration: when I first selected Animagine XL 4.0 as a base model, Civitai flagged the LoRAs I wanted as incompatible with it. A LoRA is trained against one base model family, so swapping the base model breaks the pairing even without leaving the platform.

What happened on PixAI: I picked シュヴァルグラン (Illustrious-XL-v1.0) Cheval Grand, a character LoRA from PixAI's own library. Despite its name referencing Illustrious, PixAI lists its working base model as Tsubaki.3, so it ran cleanly on the same model as my main test. Its trigger set is built around a specific character: brown hair, blue eyes, horse ears, a horse tail. I attached it to my plain-sentence prompt. The beanie, sunglasses, jacket, laugh, coop, laundry lines and sunrise all held, and she reached toward the pigeons this time.

But the LoRA added its character's animal ears and a large tail anyway, features nowhere in my prompt. A character LoRA brings its character with it regardless of what you type. There's a guide on selecting and using a compatible LoRA on PixAI if trigger-word behavior like this is new to you.

PixAI, Tsubaki.3 with the Cheval Grand LoRA, same plain prompt. Look at the ears and tail the LoRA added.

PixAI Cheval Grand LoRA

What happened on Tensor.Art and SeaArt: I tested each platform's base model without a LoRA layered on, so no direct LoRA-compatibility test ran on either one in this pack. Both platforms do run their own community LoRA libraries if you want to repeat this with one attached.

Required change on any platform: the LoRA's base model has to travel with it. A LoRA with no matching base is dead weight, regardless of which platform hosts it.

 Asset 3: the prompt

What happened on Civitai: I wrote the prompt in Danbooru-style tags, the format most Civitai anime checkpoints expect.

1girl, solo, original, adult, mature female, pigeon keeper, long black hair,
low ponytail, orange beanie, round sunglasses on head, green bomber jacket,
sleeves rolled up, releasing pigeons, flock of pigeons, flying birds,
spread wings, laughing, open mouth, rooftop, wooden pigeon coop, laundry
line, city skyline, dawn, golden hour, lens flare, from below, dynamic
angle, masterpiece, best quality, very aesthetic, absurdres

Negative: worst quality, low quality, lowres, bad anatomy, bad hands,
extra digits, fewer digits, missing fingers, text, signature, watermark,
username, blurry, jpeg artifacts, nsfw

Four attempts, one over my budget of three, and a bug I wasn't expecting from the tag prompt itself:

Run

Model

Score

Result

1

Illustrious-XL v0.1 + LoRA

7.5/10

Strong composition, but large black feathered wings on her back

2

Illustrious-XL v0.1, no LoRA

6.5/10

No wings, but floating above the rooftops, coop missing, sunglasses over her eyes

3

Nova Anime XL IL v19.0, no LoRA

7/10

Better rooftop scene, wings came back

4

Animagine XL 4.0 v4 Opt, plain sentences

6/10

No wings, but she faced away, hiding the laugh and sunglasses

Look at the wings on her back in the first and th

The tag "spread wings" was written for the pigeons. Two different Illustrious-based models gave it to the woman instead, and removing the LoRA didn't stop it. That's the real migration lesson buried in this asset: a tag prompt carries the statistical habits of the model it was tuned against, not a portable description of the scene. Rewriting it is mandatory, not optional.

What happened after rewriting into plain sentences and testing on the three destination platforms:

Anime illustration seen from a low angle at dawn. An adult woman, a pigeon
keeper, stands on a city rooftop beside a wooden pigeon coop and laughs as
she releases a flock of pigeons into the golden sky, their wings spread
wide around her. She has long black hair in a low ponytail, an orange
beanie, round sunglasses pushed up on her head, and a green bomber jacket
with rolled-up sleeves. Laundry lines and the city skyline behind her,
warm lens flare from the rising sun.

Platform

Model

Score

Result

PixAI

Tsubaki.3

8.5/10

Best of the four. Beanie, sunglasses, jacket, laugh, laundry, skyline, and the only run with the pigeon coop. Bulky sleeves, softer angle than asked

Tensor.Art

krea-2-turbo

8/10

Faces forward, laughs, correct coop and laundry, no wings. Foreground pigeons oversized

SeaArt

Pie

5.5/10

Dramatic lighting, but faces away, coop missing, flock hard to see, wings reappeared

Image generation screen Civitai (left), TensorArt (right)

Image generation screen Civitai (left), SeaArt (right)

On PixAI, Prompt Helper was left on, which rewrites the prompt before generating, so the 8.5 isn't the raw sentence prompt working alone. Keep that in mind if you're trying to reproduce this exactly.

Required change: full rewrite from tags to natural-language sentences for every destination tested here. None of the three ran the Danbooru-style prompt as written.

Asset 4: the seed and settings

What happened: nothing transferred. Civitai ran Euler a at 28 steps, CFG 5. Tensor.Art's krea-2-turbo ran at 8 steps, CFG 1, a completely different sampling regime for a completely different model. SeaArt's Pie ran DPM++ 2M Karras at 30 steps, CFG 6. None of these numbers mean the same thing across models, since step count and CFG are tuned against a specific model's training, not a universal scale.

Required change: treat every destination's settings as a fresh starting point, not a conversion from your Civitai numbers. A seed from one model also won't reproduce anything on a different one, since a seed only repeats a result on the same model with the same settings.

Asset 5: the image you want to keep editing

What happened: this is the asset that survived the move with the least friction. On PixAI, I uploaded my best Civitai result and typed the edit directly, removing the wings in one step for 5,300 credits. On SeaArt and Tensor.Art, edit tools exist too, through a prompt edit or image-to-image, at 15 stamina and 0.8 credits respectively.

Required change: none beyond uploading the file and describing the change in plain language. Of every asset in this pack, a finished image is the one thing that crosses a platform boundary intact.

What it costs to run this pack on each platform's free tier

Platform

0.4 credits

0.8 credits

Platform-dependent

SeaArt

4 stamina

15 stamina

Platform-dependent

On a free account, PixAI's 10,000 daily credits cover about one image a day once you factor in the 5,500 cost per generation. That's the one number in this whole log that should change your plan if volume matters more to you than the prompt-match quality shown above.

 Stay, combine, or migrate

Stay on Civitai if your workflow depends on a specific checkpoint and LoRA pair you already have dialed in. None of the three alternatives here run that exact pairing, and Civitai's model selection and community is what you'd be walking away from.

Combine tools if Civitai's discovery and model variety still work for you, but editing is the painful part. Generate there, then bring the result to PixAI for a typed edit. That's the exact path that removed the wings in one step in this test.

Migrate if managing checkpoints and LoRAs is the overhead you want gone. PixAI's Tsubaki.3 and Tensor.Art's krea-2-turbo both beat the best Civitai result on the first attempt once the prompt was rewritten, with no LoRA required. PixAI for quality and direct editing, Tensor.Art for free-tier volume.

 FAQ

Will a Civitai LoRA work somewhere else? Only if the destination platform hosts it or lets you upload it, and runs the base model it was trained against. PixAI's own LoRA library worked in this test, but it brought its character's design traits whether the prompt asked for them or not.

Does the same prompt and seed reproduce the same image on a different platform? No. A seed only reproduces a result on the identical model with identical settings, and none of the three alternatives run Illustrious-XL v0.1.

Which of the three suits browser-based generation specifically? PixAI gave the closest prompt match and the most direct editing in this test. Tensor.Art came close on quality at a fraction of the cost. A getting-started walkthrough for PixAI covers the basics if the platform is new to you.

Five asset types, three platforms, one consistent finding: nothing ports cleanly except the finished image. Everything else, the checkpoint, the LoRA, the prompt and the settings, gets rebuilt rather than carried over. Budget for that rebuild before you commit to a platform, not after.

I tested 4 'uncensored' AI image generators against their own written policies

Most "uncensored AI generator" content does one of two things: runs a prompt and reports whether it worked, or quotes a policy page and stops there. Neither one tells you the one thing that matters, whether a platform's written rules predict what it will draw.

So this is an audit, not just a test. Four tools, three identical prompts, one revision. For each tool, I'm pairing the test result against that tool's own published policy, and flagging every place the two didn't line up. If you typed "ai image generator no restrictions" into a search bar, or you're hunting for the best uncensored AI image generator specifically, the mismatches here tell you more than either the test or the policy alone. Read it as a map of which platform works as an AI image generator with fewer restrictions for your actual use case, not a search for the one tool with none at all.

Disclosure: this is a paid collaboration with PixAI. I ran every test myself and every judgment is mine.

 The setup

Tools: PixAI with Tsubaki.3, SeaArt with Z Image Turbo, Tensor.Art with Krea-2-Turbo, NovelAI with V5 Full.

Date: October 2026. Plans: free plan or free trial on all four.

Settings: one image per prompt, default settings, PixAI's Prompt Helper off. Test 1 ran at 2:3 portrait, Tests 2 and 3 ran landscape.

Revision method: PixAI let me click the image and type the change directly. Tensor.Art and NovelAI had no prompt-based edit, so those two used image-to-image with the first image as the source.

Three prompts, run word for word on every tool:

A hotel suite fashion editorial (new image), then a revision asking for a more daring pose and outfit.

A monster hunter after a fight, with blood, a gun and a cigarette (new image).

A kitchen fire with trigger words like "Bloody" and "knife" baked into the prompt (new image).

Each one stresses a different kind of filter: revealing clothing, violence and weapons, and keyword triggers that simple filters flag on sight regardless of context.

 Audit: PixAI

What the policy says: 18 minimum age, NSFW tag system required for mature content, firm bans on sexualized minors, realistic explicit images and extremism. Sensitive content stays visible only to you. PixAI doesn't publish which tags count as sensitive; an AI moderator makes the first call, with human review on appeal.

What the test showed: the strongest Test 1 result of the four, keeping the satin bodysuit, sheer stockings, heels, pose, skyline, armchair and champagne intact. On the revision, it was also the only tool to change the pose with high quality, getting the seated position, the over-the-shoulder look and the moonlight. Test 2 was excellent, shadows and blood and the half-submerged creature reading as one coherent scene. Test 3 had strong fire and composition, but background faces came apart, with the photographer and a staff member both missing or poorly drawn eyes.

PixAI the shadows, blood and creature hold together as one scene.

PixAI strong fire and lighting. Look at the photographer's face.

Where policy and result matched, and where they didn't: the policy says sensitive content stays private by default, and nothing in testing contradicted that since I never tested publishing.

The missing piece shows up elsewhere. Policy doesn't name which tags are sensitive, and in practice that made the revision prompt an interesting case: phrases like "no nudity or sexual activity," written into my own prompt as a safety clarification, didn't trigger any warning on PixAI the way the same phrases did on Tensor.Art.

That's not a contradiction, just an unlisted threshold working differently than you'd guess from the policy text alone.

The real mismatch is quality-based rather than policy-based: PixAI's own documented strength is anime fashion and character work, and the test confirmed that, but it also confirmed a known weak point with multiple background figures in one wide scene, which the policy page says nothing about since it's a capability limit, not a rule.

 Audit: SeaArt

What the policy says: minimum age 12, with parental consent where needed. Written rule bans any image that isn't "G-rated," the strictest standard on paper of all four tools. Firmly bars pornographic and obscene material, along with content depicting public figures. Public images may be reused for promotion.

What the test showed: a good pass on Test 1, with brighter, flatter lighting than requested. On the revision, SeaArt did change the pose, placing her on the ledge with crossed legs, though the lamp stayed lit and the sheer panels went missing. Test 2 was a good pass with extra creatures drawn and a brighter station than the mood called for. Test 3 gave a dramatic fire with clear reactions, though the knife and towel were hard to spot.

SeaArt extra creatures and a brighter station.

SeaArt the fire fills the frame and pulls attention from the photographer.

Where policy and result didn't line up: this is the sharpest mismatch in the whole test. "G-rated" is the strictest written bar of any of the four platforms, and a fitted satin bodysuit with a plunging neckline and high-cut sides doesn't read as G-rated by any normal definition of the term. SeaArt generated it anyway, with no warning.

Either the written policy is aspirational rather than enforced at the filter level, or SeaArt's internal definition of "G-rated" is looser than the plain reading of its own terms. I can't tell which from one test, and SeaArt's policy page doesn't clarify it either.

 Audit: Tensor.Art

What the policy says: no stated minimum age on the policy page itself, an omission that stands out on its own. Bars explicit content and nudity outright, firmly bans child sexual content, real celebrities and extreme violence. The platform states it's moving toward a fully safe-for-work model.

What the test showed: close behind PixAI on Test 1, with the best atmosphere of the four, though it added long sleeves nobody asked for. On the revision, Tensor.Art was the only tool in the entire test to show a policy warning: a red pop-up reading "nudity, sexual activity is not permitted" appeared when I pasted the prompt. It generated the image anyway, and she stayed standing, so the actual pose change never happened. Test 2 was excellent, dark horror mood, though it dropped the specified braided ponytail. Test 3 was the best of the four: every requested object in frame, every face complete.

<img src="https://media2.dev.to/dynamic/image/width=800%2Cheight=%2Cfit=scale-down%2Cgravity=auto%2Cformat=auto/https%3A%2F%2Fdev-to-uploads.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com%2Fuploads%2Farticles%2F1d6f5rtpbpq772nlmaaa.png" alt="Tensor.Art, NovelAI.

Tensor.Art every requested object is in the frame, and every face is finished.

Where policy and result lined up exactly: the stated move toward a fully safe-for-work model predicts exactly what happened. My own prompt contained the phrases "no nudity or sexual activity" and "intimate areas," written as safety clarification, not as a request for anything explicit.

The filter flagged those words regardless of the actual content they were attached to, which is consistent with a keyword-level filter tuned conservatively ahead of a policy shift that's already in progress. This is the one case in the whole audit where the policy's stated direction and the test's observed behavior point the same way.

 Audit: NovelAI

What the policy says: minimum age 18. Terms list no specific content categories. Reselling the service or sharing accounts is banned. Its Explore gallery is reviewed by hand under a strict "No NSFW" rule, and it rejects image-to-image and inpainting results from that gallery specifically.

What the test showed: a good pass on Test 1, brighter and flatter than requested, with added long sleeves. On the revision, NovelAI kept her standing, so the pose change didn't happen, and it turned the bodysuit into heavy lace, further than the subtle sheer panels the prompt asked for. Test 2 was a good pass, every character detail kept, though the station looked too clean for a scene set right after a fight. Test 3 dropped the photographer entirely, removing the actual point of the scene, while giving the tallest flames of the four.

<img src="https://media2.dev.to/dynamic/image/width=800%2Cheight=%2Cfit=scale-down%2Cgravity=auto%2Cformat=auto/https%3A%2F%2Fdev-to-uploads.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com%2Fuploads%2Farticles%2Fpzh16aporbfa0sh4m32e.png" alt="Test 2-Tensor.Art, NovelAI.

Anime illustration, cozy evening restaurant kitchen during a sudden kitchen accident

Where policy and result didn't line up: the terms listing no content categories reads, on its face, like the least restrictive policy of the four. The generation step backed that up, since nothing was refused. But the Explore gallery's hand-reviewed "No NSFW" rule and its rejection of image-to-image results specifically means the generation-time policy and the publishing-time policy are two different systems with two different standards, and the terms page doesn't flag that split anywhere. A tool can read as permissive at the point where you type a prompt and strict at the point where you try to share the result, and NovelAI is the cleanest example of that split in this set of four.

 The pattern across all four

PixAI

SeaArt

Tensor.Art

NovelAI

Written policy strictness

Moderate, unlisted thresholds

Strictest on paper (G-rated)

Moderate, shifting stricter

Loosest on paper

Matched test behavior

Mostly, with one unlisted threshold

No, generated a non-G-rated scene freely

Yes, flagged safety language as written

No, generation and publishing rules diverge

Revision handled well

Best quality, anatomy errors

Pose changed, details dropped

Pose ignored, warning shown anyway

Pose ignored, outfit overcorrected

Biggest capability shortfall

Multiple background faces

Flat lighting discipline

None observed in this test

Dropping a named figure entirely

No tool refused a single prompt across nine generations and one revision. That by itself tells you content-level refusal isn't really the differentiator between these four platforms anymore. The differentiator is whether what the policy claims predicts what shows up on screen, and on that measure, Tensor.Art is the only one of the four where the written rule and the tested behavior matched.

What this means if you're choosing one

If style quality and a direct text edit matter most, PixAI is the strongest of the four on both counts, and the policy gaps that showed up here were about unlisted thresholds, not contradictions. The Tsubaki.3 prompt guide covers how to write prompts in the style tested here. Watch background faces in crowded scenes specifically, since that's the one area the policy can't warn you about.

If you need several people drawn correctly in one frame, Tensor.Art earned that in testing, and its policy was also the most internally consistent of the four.

If free daily volume matters more than any of the above, Tensor.Art and SeaArt both gave noticeably larger free allowances than PixAI or NovelAI in this round. PixAI's free credits guide lists ways to add to the daily total if you want to stay on that platform anyway.

If keeping generations private matters most, NovelAI doesn't publish anything by default, though its generation-time leniency and its publishing-time strictness are two separate policies, not one.

If your actual question is about a specific kind of content, none of this audit answers it. Read each platform's current policy page directly, since every one of them can and does change independently of anything tested here.

 FAQ

Does "uncensored" mean no content rules? No. All four platforms have published terms, and none of this testing changes what's legal where you live. "Uncensored" in practice means a platform filters less aggressively on a specific set of prompts, nothing more universal than that.

Is any of the four free and fully unlimited? No. Three give a free daily allowance and stop there. NovelAI's $25 Opus plan is unlimited only on older models at standard sizes, which excludes both the model and the revision method used in this test.

Can a policy's wording predict what a tool will generate? Sometimes. Tensor.Art's stated direction toward safe-for-work matched its test behavior closely. SeaArt's and NovelAI's written policies predicted the test results the least accurately of the four.

Nine generations, one revision, four different policy pages, and only one tool where the written rule and the tested behavior agreed. Run your own version of this audit before you commit to a platform based on its policy page alone, because the page and the product aren't always telling you the same thing.

I gave ChatGPT, Grok and PixAI the same anime character. Here's a profile of each one.

Most comparisons of this kind run test by test: round one, here's how all three tools did, round two, here's how all three tools did. That format hides something useful. It doesn't show you what any single tool is like to work with across a full session.

So this one is organized by tool instead. Same five tests, same character, same scoring. Each tool gets its own profile covering all five rounds, then a scorecard at the end lines them up side by side. If you've searched for an ai anime generator no restrictions and want to know which one behaves the way you need it to, the tool-by-tool view answers that better than a round-by-round one does.

Disclosure: this article is a paid collaboration with PixAI. Every test was run by me, and every score is mine.

Left to Right: Grok, PixAI, ChatGPT.

Setup, shared across all three profiles

Date: October 2026.

Tools: ChatGPT running GPT-6, Grok running Grok Imagine, and PixAI running Tsubaki.3, its anime model.

The character: Rin, an original adult woman in her late twenties, with long silver-white hair in a high ponytail tied with a red cord, amber eyes, a crimson haori jacket over black techwear, and a sheathed katana on her back.

Revision method: ChatGPT and Grok carried revisions through one running chat. PixAI used an attached reference image through its Reference Pro tool instead, since that's how its interface is built. Same request, same goal, different mechanism.

Scoring: 0 to 100 per image, judged on prompt adherence, how intact Rin's design stayed, and overall cleanliness.

Cost on PixAI: 5,500 credits for a 3:5 image, 6,300 for a 2:3 image with a reference attached.

The five rounds, run identically for all three tools:

A 1990s cel-animation style test (new generation)

A new pose and location, same character (in-session revision)

A cold start in a fresh session with only the first image to go on (reference/upload based)

An open-ended outfit change (in-session revision)

A rooftop action scene, checking for over-filtering (new generation)

 Profile: ChatGPT

Round 1 (style), score 81. Built the richest scene of the three, warm lantern light against a blue city. Added a courier backpack and extra armor pieces that nobody asked for, and the rendering reads as modern concept art rather than 1990s cel animation.

Round 2 (new pose), score 79. Scene and lighting look excellent, but the katana blade runs into the background with no clean endpoint, and the uninvited backpack straps came back.

Round 3 (cold start), score 85. Hair matched the uploaded reference closely, eyes read golden-amber, and the hand reaching for the vending machine makes the action easy to follow. The backpack and straps returned a third time.

PixAI (Left), ChatGPT (Right).

Round 4 (outfit change), score 84. Picked a black strappy top, tactical trousers and chains, and draped the original crimson jacket over the shoulders so the new look still connects to the old one. Both eyes stayed open and amber, the cleanest eye match of the whole run.

Round 5 (action scene), score 85, its best round. The staff meets the katana guard with sparks at the contact point, and the police helicopter is drawn correctly. The katana reads partly like a bare blade rather than a sheathed one.

What a full session with ChatGPT looks like: detailed, cinematic, and consistently over-equipped. Three separate rounds brought back gear nobody prompted. If you're fine editing that out in a follow-up message, it's a small tax on otherwise strong scenes.

 Profile: Grok

Round 1 (style), score 82. Captured Rin well, with the ponytail and red cord standing out. Style slid toward glossy modern anime, shiny highlights on jacket and hair, almost no film grain.

Round 2 (new pose), score 84. Hair, red cord and outfit all carried over. Mossy steps, cedar trees, mist and sunrise all matched the prompt. The katana rests partly behind her legs.

Round 3 (cold start), score 88, the best score of any tool in any round. Ponytail, red cord, outfit and katana all matched the uploaded reference. Snowy night, visible breath and the machine's glow on her face all present. Eyes read dark rather than amber in this lighting.

Round 4 (outfit change), score 86. Picked a metallic crop top, black skirt, chains and combat boots, kept the hair and red cord. Eyes closed mid-laugh, so no eye read on this one.

Round 5 (action scene), score 80. Rain, spotlight and skyline look cinematic, but the thief appears to leap past Rin rather than strike her, and the contact point between the weapons is unclear.

Left to right: Grok, PixAI, ChatGPT.

What a full session with Grok looks like: the most consistent character of the three across every round, including the cold start that matters most for reuse. The trade is a style that keeps drifting toward glossy modern anime rather than the specific retro look requested.

 Profile: PixAI

Round 1 (style), score 85, its best round. Closest of the three to the 1990s look: bold outlines, flatter color areas, angular shadows, a background closer to painted anime backgrounds. All four of Rin's defining details present. Hair and lighting still carry a modern finish.

Round 2 (new pose), score 81. Best retro styling of the three rounds so far. Changed how she holds the katana, both hands across her lap rather than sheathed on her back, and turned the red cord into a looped ornament with an added orange sash.

Round 3 (cold start), score 83. Outfit, red cord, katana and amber eyes all held through the reference upload. Warm light turned the silver-white hair toward golden blonde, a meaningful miss when the whole point is character consistency. Holding a cup with a straw instead of the requested hot drink.

Round 4 (outfit change), score 82. Picked a neon-green crop top and glossy black skirt with jewelry. Amber eyes read well, though the bright green competes with the rest of the image.

Round 5 (action scene), score 77, its lowest round. Staged a more direct confrontation than Grok managed, both characters mid-air. The thief's hand on the staff is distorted, and the helicopter turned into something closer to a flying police car with rotors.

What a full session with PixAI looks like: the only one of the three with direct settings underneath the prompt box, model choice, seed, a negative prompt field, LoRAs, editing and reference tools layered on top of the chat-style request. That control is also what gets you closest to a specific era of anime rather than a generic one. The action round is where it fell behind, with the most visible object and anatomy errors of the three.

81.6

Strongest round

Action scene

Cold start

Style

Weakest round

New pose

Action scene

Action scene

Two of the three tools share a weak spot: the action scene is where PixAI and Grok both posted their lowest round, while it's ChatGPT's strongest. That's one to watch if action content is the main thing you're generating.

What "no restrictions" breaks down into

Three different questions hide inside that one search term.

Creative control. ChatGPT and Grok work only through the chat box. PixAI adds a settings layer underneath: model, aspect ratio, batch size, seed, a negative prompt field, LoRAs, plus editing and reference tools. That's the real difference between a general chat tool and a dedicated anime generator, and it's the biggest reason anyone looking at PixAI as a ChatGPT image generator alternative would switch at all.

Usage caps. Daily limits, wait times, cost per image. PixAI runs on credits, 5,500 to 6,300 per image in this test. Check each tool's current plan before committing, since these numbers shift.

Content policy. What's allowed at all, independent of how good the tool is at drawing it. None of the three is unrestricted.

Question

What the official source says

Source

ChatGPT, sexual content involving minors

Never allowed, bans sexualizing anyone under 18

OpenAI Usage Policies, effective October 29, 2025

ChatGPT, real people's likeness

Bans using someone's likeness without consent in ways that could confuse authenticity

Same source

Grok, copyright

Bans violating copyright, trademark or other IP law

xAI Acceptable Use Policy, effective August 14, 2026

Grok, real people

Bans undressing real people or depicting their likeness in a sexual or pornographic way

Same source

PixAI, age and account

18 or older, account required to generate images

PixAI Terms of Service, last updated July 7, 2025

PixAI, what you post

Can't infringe IP or privacy rights; explicit content must use the NSFW tag system

Same source, plus PixAI's content guidelines

Checked October 10, 2026. "Fewer restrictions" mostly means more creative control. The content rules hold on every platform regardless.

 Which profile fits you

Default to ChatGPT if you want a quick, detailed image and you're already using it daily. Budget one follow-up message to strip the gear it keeps adding.

Default to Grok if reusing one character across sessions matters more than matching a specific era or style. As a Grok image generator pick for that job specifically, it won every reuse-focused round in this test, cold start included.

Default to PixAI if style control is the point. It's the only one of the three with knobs to turn underneath the prompt, and it scored highest on both rounds where a specific look was the ask. Budget extra attention to hands and props in action-heavy scenes, since that's where it lost the most ground here.

Default to the official policy page, not this test, if what you need to know is whether a specific kind of content is allowed anywhere. Fifteen generated images across three tools tell you what happened with these prompts, nothing broader.

 FAQ

Is PixAI completely unrestricted?
No. Its terms require an account and an age of 18 or older, ban content that infringes copyright or privacy, and require explicit content to carry the NSFW tag. The actual offer is creative control: an anime-focused model with settings the other two don't expose.

Do you need an account or credits?
On PixAI, yes, both. A single image ran 5,500 credits in this test, 6,300 with a reference attached. Check ChatGPT's and Grok's own caps directly, since those change independently of anything tested here.

Did filtering block any of the five rounds?
No, on any tool, including the rooftop fight. That's one data point about these specific prompts, not a general claim about what each service allows.

Fifteen images, five identical rounds, three different personalities. ChatGPT over-equips everything it touches. Grok holds a face the longest. PixAI gives you the most to adjust and the most that can go visibly wrong in an action scene. Run your own version of Rin on Tsubaki.3 and see which personality you end up arguing with.
