Five Coding Streams to Watch on Twitch

Twitch has exploded in popularity over the last few years. With the growing amount of E-Sports and music streamers, we have also seen a niche group of people start to stream our favourite subject: programming.

There are developers of all skill levels and tech stacks on the platform, meaning that no matter if you are a beginner, Lead Developer, JavaScript lover or Python fan, there is something for you.

The best of the streamers showcase varied, interesting projects and bring character to their content, engaging with their chat and answering questions - meaning you can become part of their coding community too! I have learned many new skills and joined in several developer Discord communities due to Twitch.

To get you started, here are five great coding streams to check out:

1. whitep4nth3r

Salma, AKA whitep4nth3er, loves her front-end development and TypeScript/JavaScript builds. One of the most engaging and genuine streamers I have watched, there is always something to learn. Her stream is an amazing place to see the real process of a software developer and to join a fun and engaged community. Some cool projects I have seen her work on include the Twitch stream overlays on her channel, and tasks for her software developer job.

2. GoPirateSoftware

Highlighting the awesome and wide breadth of coding streams you can find on Twitch, GoPirateSoftware, AKA Thor, is a game developer who streams his work on the indie game Heartbound - available in early access on Steam. His community is actively involved in the development of the project and truly highlights how valuable Twitch can be - for those watching and the streamers as well! Learn in real time how a story driven indie game is built, and all the fun challenges along the way!

3. Coding Garden

Hosted by CJ, Coding Garden is an open, interactive and engaging community where any coder, from beginner to veteran, can learn and grow together. His streams are often easy to follow along tutorials and mini-projects, and there is always something new you can pick up from what he is working on. Not to mention an active chat community each stream and the Coding Garden Youtube channel with past tutorials.

4. ThePrimeagen

If you are looking to watch an expert developer then you have come to the right place. A Netflix employee, ThePrimeagen is often showcasing different coding tasks associated with his work, taking his audience on various creative tangents, or tackling coding challenges like The Advent of Code.

5.TheAltF4Stream

A passion project started by two friends, AT0TA and Blackglasses, TheAltF4Stream is a variety coding channel that is all about building a great online community around programming and games. You'll often see either of them taking on a new language, working on a mini project, or discussing the current news, frameworks and more in tech as they develop.
