Instead of spending most of our time translating requirements into code, we are increasingly focusing on architecting solutions, defining constraints, reviewing LLM generated changes, and validating user journeys. <br> Architecture has become more important because AI can implement a poor design just as quickly as a good one. <br> Code review evolves from checking syntax and style to evaluating business logic, failure scenarios, security, performance, and long-term maintainability. The engineer's value shifts from producing lines of code to making sound technical decisions.</p> <p><strong>Hot take:</strong> Writing code may become the least interesting part of software engineering. As generating code now is easy but knowing whether it should exist is harder.
