Before we start, I want to state that this article is for

people who are facing difficulties in waking up early

the night owls who are considering waking up early but are unsure whether it's worth it or not

Anyone who wants to read it

# 📜 **INDEX** 📜
**[I recommend you to start from here](#history)**
**[A little about my sleep schedule history](#history)**
**[Why should you wake up early?](#why)**
**[How to sleep early?](#howSleep)**
**[How to wake up early?](#howWake)**

A little about my sleep schedule history

Ever since I was a little kid 👶,
I used to go to bed early and wake up early in the morning. (9pm-6am)🌅

Even in my school life I was able to maintain my sleeping habits
(10pm-6am)🌅

When I joined my engineering college, I started sleeping a little late. 🌃

But I had to wake up early to go to college. (11pm/12pm - 6am)🌅

Eventually, in second year my schedule became 11pm - 5am and in third year it became 11pm - 4:00am/4:30am. 🌄

Then, as the third year ended and burnout ruined my sleep schedule. 😔

Recently, I managed to recover from the burnout and now my sleep schedule is back to 11pm-4am. 🌄

Why should you wake up early?

1. You get more time in the day

Goddamit the day feels very long. 🙄
(Which is really nice, but it feels weird sometimes)
When you wake up at 4am 🌄,
you are basically done with most of your daily tasks by 9am 🌤.
You practically have a minimum of 12 productive hours in a day.

----------------------------
###
2. You get a sense of achievement

![Obama Meme](https://dev-to-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/i/zfhth0r3t1p8irtdvi4m.jpg)

This feeling of accomplishment is unparalleled.

-------------------------
###
3. 😌Silence😌

It is usually very silent in the early morning which makes it easier to concentrate on your tasks.

-----------------------------
###
4. You get a proud feeling that while most of the world is sleeping, you are working. This feeling is really good for your morale💯

![Satisfied seal meme](https://dev-to-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/i/5s6yaoszr5frcfoo5rh2.jpg)

--------------------------
###
5. 🌸You'll feel better about yourself🌸

You'll have a positive attitude which will help you increase your output (or at-least make you happier)

---------------------
###
6. You’ll Have a Better Chance at Completing your tasks💯

---------------------
###
7. You can also just take it slow

![relaxed bart meme](https://dev-to-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/i/7ax3gmnzfb2j2ssd1c3c.jpg)

-----------
###
8. 💝Some health benefits 💝

![Helth Meme](https://dev-to-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/i/tmax2z7vvtyd0xx3vdcp.png)
- It improves your quality of sleep.
- It gives you more time to exercise.
- Not only you've more time to exercise but exercising in the morning gives maximum benefits.
- It helps you to sustain a healthier diet.
- It makes your skin look healthier(I don't have any proof though)

----------------
###
9. 😆Some funny (and possibly sarcastic) reasons 😆

- You can talk about it on social media.
- Internet speed is usually faster in the morning.
- Your parents will become more happier for you.
- You can brag about waking up early.

-------------------------------------------------------

#
How to sleep early ?

- Screens and Caffeine are your worst enemies.
- Don't drink coffee within 6 hours of your sleep time.
- Don't sleep for long during the day.
- Stop using computers/mobile phones after 9 pm (Which is pretty unrealistic I know, but try to stop using them after 10 pm)
- Go to bed at 10 **AT ANY COST**

The real challenge begins now.

**DON'T TOUCH YOUR MOBILE PHONES NOW** 📱❌
(_Unless of-course it's an emergency_)
I KNOW ✅
IT WILL BE VERY TEMPTING 🤤
THE CONSTANT FEELING OF CHECKING NOTIFICATIONS 😫
THE CONSTANT FEELING OF CHECKING IF YOU GOT ANY NEW MESSAGE
BUT NO ❌
YOU ARE STRONG 😤
YOU HAVE TO BE STRONG 😓
YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THIS FEELING 😤
YOU CAN DO IT 😎
(May be. I mean I don't really know you :P )

Now, you have to create this new habit of sleeping early.

If you are used to sleeping late chances are your body will be full of energy at night.

Lay down on the bed. Stay Still.

Don't overthink and focus on your breathing.

🎊TIME FOR THE MAIN EVENT🎊

How to wake up early ?

(We are aiming to wake up @ 4:30 am )

🕙 Sleep early at night 🕙

Make sure to read **[How to sleep early?](#howSleep)**

🍕Make sure that your stomach is full🍕

Set your alarm like this

Make friends with early risers and create a support system for yourself

Ask them to call you in the morning ☎️.

Ask them to remind you to sleep early at night🌇

You get the point ✅

You can ask your parents to wake you up in the morning

(add the words AT+ANY+COST in the sentence while requesting)

Wash your face immediately after waking up

🍵☕Drink your favourite beverage(Coffee/Tea)☕🍵

🏃Cardio in the morning will wake you up properly🏃

**NOTE**: _**Don't make sudden changes. Try to wake up 30 minutes early everyday until you reach your goal**_

Before we start, I want to state that I recently experienced a Burnout as a software developer.
I wanted to share my experience about how it felt and how I cured it.
(And there are going to be a lot of memes, I am sorry in advance 😂 )

 📜 INDEX 📜

I recommend you to start from here
Introduction
What is Burnout?
Signs and Symptoms of Burnout
Prevention and Treatment of Burnout

Raise your hand if you have ever sacrificed physical, mental and/or emotional health to overwork yourself to an extremely depressive state of mind that takes days to recover from.

Introduction

Burnout is the type of thing that slowly creeps in and you only start to notice it when your insides have already deteriorated by 30% and your insanity stat has reached level 10.

My recent experience

I noticed that I’ve been slowly losing my sanity from overworking myself ever since I entered the final year of my engineering degree.

 But what was the problem?

 I was just working hard?

I am supposed to work hard! Right?

Then I asked myself, “What is my daily schedule?”

It was
Waking up in the morning ☀️
Working 👨🏻‍💻
Breakfast ☕ 🍞
Working 👨🏻‍💻
Lunch 🍴
Working 👨🏻‍💻
Exercise 🏃
Working 👨🏻‍💻
Dinner 🍴
Working 👨🏻‍💻
and then
Going to sleep 😴

I think you can see what was my problem

The weird thing is that this schedule is very common among developers

Working hard is really admirable. No Doubt.
But when you start forfeiting self care in place of hard work, that’s when you start crossing into the realm of pain and uncontrollable suffering.

Yeah, but enduring the pain and pushing forward is super strong.
Right ?
NOOOOOOOOO!
It is not

What is burnout?

definition from helpguide.org

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress.
It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands.
As the stress continues, you begin to lose the interest and motivation that led you to take on a certain role in the first place.

Everyone knows overworking is not good.
But at the same time it is also glorified.
The best examples are in school or work environments.

Dude 1:

I had six hours of homework last night and didn’t get to bed until 4 am.

Dude 2 :

Pfft! I was finishing a project and so I pulled an all nighter

Dude 3:

I have not slept for a week

Dude 1 👏 and Dude 2 👏 claps for Dude 3

Admiring something that’s supid and unhealthy isn’t commendable.
Instead of encouraging it, tell your brain.
“Hey! Nooo bad!”

Signs and Symptoms of Burnout

Physical Signs

Feeling tired and drained most of the time.

Frequent illnesses.

Frequent headaches or muscle pain.

Change in sleep schedule.

Change in eating habits.

Emotional Signs

Sense of failure.

Sense of self-doubt.

Feeling helpless, trapped, and defeated.

Loneliness

Loss of motivation

Increasingly negative outlook

Decreased satisfaction and sense of accomplishment

Behavioural Signs

Isolating yourself from others.

Withdrawing from responsibilities.

Procrastinating.

Using food, drugs, or alcohol to cope.

Taking out your frustrations on others.

You snap more at things that aren’t big deals.

Skipping work

 Prevention and Treatment of Burnout

Here are my tips and suggestions to not be emotionally damaged for a week after overworking yourself:

Don’t do too much of the same thing without any sort of change whatsoever ❌

Mix things up.
Switch to something different if you are stuck somewhere. Learn something new.
Doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over is a formula for absolute misery.

Imagine you love pizza. 🍕 = ❤️
But if you only eat pizza, you’ll end up hating it for some reason 🍕 = 💔

 Take time for self care

Spend time with yourself. Do something that will refuel yourself.

Take a break from social media

This could be hard, but it worked for me. Tell your friends you aren't doing fine and you need time for yourself.
They'll be supportive (hopefully) and if they are not then yaay you spotted some fake friends.

Stick to a healthy sleeping schedule

Reach out to those closest to you

Trust me. YOU NEED HELP during a burn out.

 Talk to new people

Push yourself to always be trying something new or focus on improving.

 Nourish your hobbies

 Make exercise a priority

I am no doctor or a therapist, but I found this amazing (free)article on Burnout Prevention and Treatment by helpguide.org
Check it out. It could be helpful.

🎊 🎉 Congratulations 🎉 🎊

Before we start, I want to state that this tutorial is for absolute beginners who want to get started with Cloud Computing.
(And there are going to be a lot of cloud jokes, I am sorry in advance 😂 )

The tutorial has no specific prerequisites.

After reading this tutorial you’ll be able to answer the following questions:

What is a Cloud?

What is Cloud Computing?

What are the various Cloud Computing services?

What are the benefits of Cloud Computing?

What are the various service models of Cloud Computing?

What are the various Cloud Deployment Models?

What is a cloud ☁️ ?

Definition by Cloudflare.com
The cloud refers to servers that are accessed over the Internet, and the software and databases that run on those servers.

In Layman's Term
It is someone else’s computer that you can rent remotely and can be accessed through the internet.

Cloud servers are located in data centres all around the world.

Cloud allows the user to access the same files and applications from almost any device from anywhere in the world, as the storage and computing takes place in data centres.

What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing refers to renting resources, like compute
power or storage space, on some other company's computers.

You only pay for what you use.

The company providing these services is referred to as a cloud provider.

The cloud provider is responsible for the maintenance of
physical hardware required to execute your work, and for
keeping it up to date.

The cloud computing services offered tend to vary by cloud provider.

Some Cloud Computing Services ✅

The two most common services that all cloud providers offer are:

Compute power

Storage

Compute Power

There are generally three compute options:
Virtual Machines, Containers and Server-less computing.

Virtual Machines💻

When you are building a product on the cloud you can choose how much work you want to do or how much responsibility for the resources do you want.
If you want to have more control and responsibility for maintenance, you could create a virtual machine.

A Virtual Machine on the cloud is an emulation of a computer which is remotely accessed through your computer.

Each Virtual Machine includes an operating system like Linux or Windows.

You can then install whatever software you need to run your task.

The major advantage of a virtual machine is that you do not have to buy any of the hardware or install the operating
system.

Containers🎁

Containers are very similar to Virtual Machines except they do not require an operating system.

The application and its dependencies are packed into a package called a “container” and then a standard runtime environment is used to execute the app.

Docker is a standard open-source project that is used to create, deploy, and run applications using containers.

Server-less Computing (I can't find any emoji for this)

Server-less computing is an approach you go for when you want the least control over the server(s).

It lets you run your project without creating, configuring, or maintaining a server.

The main idea behind server-less computing is that your application is broken down into separate functions that run when triggered by some action.

This type of computing is ideal for the tasks that are automated – for example using chat-bots which are triggered by a specific keyword or tasks.

Image from docs.microsoft.com

Storage

Most applications need storage to read or/and write data for various purposes.
For example – storing user data, images, videos.

Most Cloud Providers offer such services that can take care of all your data storing needs.

The advantage of using cloud storage is you can scale according to your needs.

If you need more storage at any given time, you can pay more and expand your available storage.

 BENEFITS OF CLOUD COMPUTING

One of the best things about cloud computing is that it is not an all or nothing approach.
Companies can choose to use cloud resources as much, or as
little, as necessary to fulfil their needs.

Let's learn some of the benefits of cloud computing

It is cost-effective 😍 💰

Cloud computing provides a pay-as-you-go model, which means that you only have to pay for the resources that you use. This model brings with it many benefits, including.

There is no upfront cost.

You do not need to buy hardware and infrastructure.

You do not need to maintain the hardware.

You can stop paying for resources that are no longer
needed.

It leads to better cost prediction.

It is scalable 📈 😎

You can increase or decrease the resources and services at any given time according to your needs. You can scale your resources both vertically and horizontally according to your
need.

Vertical scaling, also known as “scaling up”, refers to adding resources to increase the power of an existing server.
For example – adding more GPUs or adding more memory.

Horizontal Scaling, also known as “scaling out”, refers to adding more servers that function together as one unit.

It is reliable 💛

Cloud providers often provide services like data recovery,
disaster recovery and data replication services, as data is the most crucial information and cloud providers help to secure it.
It is achieved through data redundancy.
So, if one component fails, a backup component will take its place.
This is known as fault tolerance.

It is secure 😷 💪

You have physical security – The data centres are equipped with walls, cameras, security personnel, gates, and so on to protect their assets.

You have digital security – The cloud providers make sure that your data is secure from any potential threats and unauthorised users.

It is global 🌎 🌍 🌏

Most cloud providers have fully redundant data centres in various regions throughout the globe allowing you to replicate your services into multiple regions for redundancy and locality.

It is current 🚀

The cloud hardware is maintained and upgraded by the cloud providers and you can focus on what matters: building and deploying applications.

It is elastic〰️

Your cloud computing system can compensate for workload changes due to spike or drop-in demand by automatically adding or removing resources.

For example – Imagine your website experiences a sudden spike in traffic due to some reason. The cloud will automatically allocate more computing resources to handle increased traffic.

When the traffic is normalised the cloud will automatically de-allocate additional resources to minimise cost.

MAIN SERVICE MODELS OF CLOUD COMPUTING

 🌐Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)🌐

SaaS applications are the applications that are hosted on cloud servers and users access then over the internet.
SaaS is just like renting a fully furnished house: you get to use it as your own, but it is still owned by your landlord.

Example: Google Apps, Dropbox, Salesforce

 🌐Platform-as-a-service (PaaS)🌐

PaaS is a kind of service in which the vendor offers you everything you need to build your application like development tools, infrastructure, operating system.
You get a complete environment to build, test and deploy your
application.

Example: Microsoft Azure, Heroku, Google App Engine

 🌐Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)🌐

It is the most flexible kind of cloud service.
In this kind of service, a company rents the infrastructure and storage they need from the cloud vendor and then use that cloud infrastructure to build their application.
IaaS is like leasing land on which you can build whatever you want.

Example: Digital Ocean.

 🌐Function-as-a-Service (FaaS)🌐

Function as service is also known as serverless computing.
The main idea behind serverless computing is that your
application is broken down into separate functions that run
when triggered by some action.

 ☁️CLOUD DEPLOYMENT MODELS☁️

 ⚡Private Cloud⚡

In a Private Cloud, you create a cloud environment in a data centre that is completely dedicated to your organisation. This allows simulation of public cloud to your organisation, but you are completely responsible for the maintenance of hardware and the software services you provide.

 ⚡Public Cloud⚡

Public cloud service is run by an external vendor. Using virtual machines, individual servers are shared by multiple organisations.

 ⚡Hybrid Cloud⚡

Hybrid cloud is an assortment of Public Cloud and Private Cloud. An organisation might use public cloud for one service and private cloud for some other service.

Before we start, I want to state that this tutorial is for absolute beginners who want to learn git and GitHub.

The tutorial has no specific prerequisites

After reading this tutorial you’ll be able to answer the following questions:

What is git?

How does git work?

What is GitHub?

Why do we use them?

What is the difference between git and GitHub?

 Introduction

In layman’s terms, git is used to save different versions of your project.

Now the question arises,

Why backing up different versions of your project is important? 🤔

To understand this, let’s move to an alternative universe with no version control system.

In that world you are working for your dream company. Your team has been asked to work on an important project and your job is to build the back-end.

You write the code. 💻

You run it for the first time. 🏃

It works Perfectly.(In the first try..Ohhhhhhh) 😳

It is working as you intended. 💘

It’s the best code that you have ever written in your life. 😍

You pass it to your team members and..........
somehow.....
they frick that up. 😱

Fine! 😑

It comes back to you and you have to fix it because you did not have any backup.

Now you fix it. But it’s not that perfect as it used to be. 😞

Then your teammates do their part. Your team leader shows it to the project manager. The project manager shows it to the client.

They like it. 😎
BUT this is their reaction.

So now they ask you to DOUBLE the features. They are paying you for that. It’s your job. You have to do it.

So, you work on the logic. AGAIN 😑💻
You add the features asked. 💻
It is passed on to your team members and they do their part.
Your team leader shows it to the project manager.
Your project manager shows it to the client.

And this is their reply.

“I think we like the previous one”

Now you cannot go and be like:

(You have to be polite and do as he says because he’s not a little crap. He’s a big crap and he can do a lot of crappy things to you and your career.)

I think you get the point that why we should back up different versions of our project.

Now, it’s time for the technical terms

What is git?🤔

Git is a Distributed Version Control System created by Linus Torvalds in 2005 for the development of the Linux Kernel.
(Note the terms "Distributed" and "Version Control Systems")

What is a Version Control System?

Version control systems are a category of software tools that help a software team manage changes to source code over time.

Version control software keeps track of every modification to the code in a special kind of database.

(In Layman’s term: It is like that save game mechanic for your software development)

Before Distributed Version Control System, Centralised Version Control System was popular.

Let's have a look at Centralised Version Control System.

In centralised version control system we have a server and a client.

The server is the main repository which contains all the versions of the source code.

Client fetches the code to local machine, works on it then commits it to the server.

(If you didn’t understand words like commits and repository. Hold your horses. We’ll look at them later)

 Layman’s Language

In centralised version control system, we have a single server that contains all the versioned files and the clients check out files from a central place.

So basically, to work on any project, firstly the user or client need to get the code from the server or main repository.

Once you get the latest version of code, you start making your own changes in the code and after that you simply needs to commit those changes straight forward into the main repository.

(Here committing your changes means to merging your code to the main repository or making a new version of the source code.)

Its major disadvantage is that we have a single point of failure

Linus Torvalds didn't like Centralised Version Control System, so he created Git

What is a Distributed Version Control System?

Being distributed means that you do not have one central location that keeps track of your data.

No single place is more important than any other single place.

In distributed version control system, the client doesn’t just checkout the latest snapshots; rather they fully mirror the repository, including its full history

How does git work?🤔

Let us first look into some of the important terminologies:

Snapshots

It is the way in which git keeps track of your code history

A snapshot is essentially a recording of what your file looks like at a given point in time

You decide what you want to include in a snapshot and what you want to exclude

You have the ability to go back to any snapshot

Commit

The act of creating a snapshot.

You project is essentially bunch of commits.

Repository

Often called "Repo"

A collection of all the files and the history of those files

Workings of git

With Git, every time you commit, or save the state of your project, Git basically takes a picture of what all your files look like at that moment and stores a reference to that snapshot.

If files have not changed, Git doesn’t store that file again, just a link to the previous identical file it has already stored.

The mechanism that Git uses for this check summing is called a SHA-1 hash.

A SHA-1 hash is a 40-character string composed of hexadecimal characters (0-9 and a-f) and calculated based on the contents based on the contents of a file or directory structure in Git.

A SHA-1 hash looks something like this :
24b9da6552252987aa493b52f8696cd6d3b00373

Git Workflow🧐

The basic Git workflow goes something like this:

You modify files in your working tree.

You selectively stage just those changes you want to be part of your next commit, which adds only those changes to the staging area.

You do a commit, which takes the files as they are in the staging area and stores that snapshot permanently to your Git directory.

Git has three main states that your files can reside in: modified, staged, and committed:

Modified mean that you have changed the file but have not committed it to your database yet.

Staged means that you have marked a modified file in its current version to go into your next commit snapshot.

Committed means that the data is safely stored in your local database.

To Understand this better, try and imagine shopping at a store 🏪

You pick the items.
You add them to the shopping cart.
You go to the counter and create the bill.

The bill is your commit.
The shopping cart is your staging area.
There are various items in the store, but the only things added to your bill are the items you put in the shopping cart.

What is GitHub?🤔

GitHub is a United States-based global company that provides hosting for software development and version control using Git.

It offers the distributed version control and source code management (SCM) functionality of Git, plus its own features.

It provides access control and several collaboration features such as bug tracking, feature requests, task management, and wikis for every project.

It is the largest host of source code in the world.

What is the difference between Git and GitHub?🤔

Git is a version control system while GitHub hosts your git repositories(ie. puts them on your GitHub account and makes them accessible from anywhere in the internet)

Git is a command line tool while GitHub is a website.

Git is installed and maintained on your local system (rather than in the cloud), GitHub is a cloud based repository hosting service.
