The biggest barrier in Web3 isn't cryptography it's vocabulary. Most users bounce off dApps because interfaces speak in backend jargon instead of human experience.
If we want to build interfaces people trust, we need plain English. Here is Web3 architecture broken down into Web2 terms:
Public Address vs. Private Key: Your address is your bank account number (safe to share). Your private key is your signature/password (never share).
Blockchain: A shared database running on thousands of machines simultaneously. Once written, no single entity can edit or erase it.
Connect Wallet: Not a traditional login. It simply proves address ownership so the UI can read your balances safely.
Smart Contract: An automated ⁠if/then⁠ rule on-chain. Example: IF 0.05 ETH is received, THEN mint 1 ticket instantly without a middleman.
Gas: The network execution fee paid to validators for processing your transaction.
The UI Responsibility
Our job as front-end engineers isn't to hide these concepts—it's to make them clear before a user signs anything.
When a UI explains what a contract is doing before triggering a wallet popup, anxiety drops and trust goes up. Great Web3 UX isn't about removing agency; it's about eliminating ambiguity.
