What I Learned

Today i learned code splitting in React. I have been hearing of it but never really understood why it was important till today.

And why exactly is this interesting?

While working on v2 of an open-source internet shutdown circumvention tool SMSWithoutBorders, code splitting helped improve page load speeds solving the problem of blank pages due to large bundle sizes

I found this tutorial helpful

I have been learning to code for the past 3 years. I have had to chance to tryout a few tools and work with some amazing friends on several projects. Earlier this year I finally realized I really enjoy working as a front-end web developer and decided to specialize.

I was lucky to find the Zuri training program through which I learned UI/UX design. I was then introduced to the HNG Internship program by Zuri and Ingressive4Good.

I intend to put in my best and push myself to learn and become a world class front-end web developer. HNG promises to help me achieve this goal in 8 weeks if I put in the effort and I will.

Some of the Technologies I'll be using are:

HTML

CSS

Javascript

React

Below are some helpful tutorials I used to learn

Introduction to HTML and CSS
https://www.udacity.com/course/intro-to-html-and-css--ud001

Designing with Figma
https://www.figma.com/resources/learn-design/

Introduction to Git and Github
https://dev.to/wordssaysalot/an-introduction-to-git-and-github-2b99

Javascript for Beginners
https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/full-javascript-course-for-beginners/

To learn more about HNG internship at https://internship.zuri.team

 What I built

A portfolio website

 Category Submission:

Personal Site/Portfolio

 App Link

https://nsedrickm-ezky8.ondigitalocean.app/

 Screenshots

 Description

A single-page website built with parcel.js to serve as my portfolio

 Link to Source Code

https://github.com/nSedrickm/nsedrickm.github.io

 Permissive License

BSD 2-Clause "Simplified" License

 Background

Found this a good opportunity to try out some new things. Stumbled across some cool animation libraries I will be looking into later.

 How I built it

The new DO app platform is awesome. I had to think hard about how to deploy my site from the dist directory only to find the app platform has the option to specify my build directory. In addition, the entire build took less than 2minutes and the site was live. Wow

The integration with Github is downright seamless. I don't have a lot of experience with software deployment but I can tell DO App platform is quite straightforward.

 Additional Resources/Info

Found the App platforms documentation very usefull. Thanks
