Explore C1’s sandblasted aluminum, visible rotating disc and one-press control: a compact recorder designed to feel at home on your desk.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

A little turntable you want to keep on your desk. C1 brings sandblasted aluminum, a clear view of the moving disc and a simple recording gesture into an object made for everyday conversations. The design is there to make recording feel natural: press once, see it turn and stay with the conversation.

The dimensions and materials below follow C1’s current specifications. The engineering sections explain design considerations, rather than claiming unpublished prototype test results.

What requirements define the physical envelope?

  C1 is specified at 60 × 64 × 20 mm and 85 g. Inside that volume are two MEMS
  microphones, a 1250 mAh battery, 32 GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C,
controls, status feedback, and a moving turntable. The enclosure combines
sandblasted anodized aluminum alloy and plastic.

Those values create a tolerance budget. Nominal CAD dimensions are not enough:
wall thickness, adhesive, fasteners, board clearance, battery swelling
allowance, connector insertion, and the moving mechanism all consume space. A
design review should trace every external seam or opening to a function,
  assembly step, or service need.

Front and side views of C1 in Silver White.

Why does microphone geometry affect industrial design?

Two microphones are useful only if their acoustic openings, spacing, phase
relationship, and signal path remain controlled. Microsoft’s hardware guidance
treats microphone selection, placement, array geometry, received noise, phase
matching, and bandwidth as core speech-recognition factors. It also
distinguishes acoustic noise carried through the enclosure from electrical
  noise introduced by electronics.

For an industrial designer, that means a grille cannot be judged only by
appearance. Its open area, channel length, protective mesh, gasket
compression, and proximity to reflective faces affect the signal. The
mechanical team should provide the acoustic team with actual production-intent
parts, not an open-board microphone that bypasses the final enclosure.

Why make the recording state physically visible?

A recorder changes the social state of a room. A tiny operator-facing icon can
be missed by everyone else. C1 uses slow turntable motion as a persistent cue
that capture is active. The movement is deliberately legible from more than
one viewing angle and does not depend on reading a screen.

Visibility is not consent. Users still need to notify participants and follow
the laws and policies that apply. The design goal is narrower: reduce
ambiguity about whether the hardware is active after consent has been
  established.

The motion also creates engineering obligations. A visible indicator that
introduces structure-borne noise, jams under tolerance variation, or draws
excessive power would fail the product. That is why the mechanism must be
reviewed together with acoustic and production validation, not as an isolated
  styling feature.

Why combine aluminum and plastic?

C1 pairs the texture of sandblasted anodized aluminum with a clear cover that lets the turntable stay in view. Aluminum gives the enclosure structure and a tactile surface; plastic supports shapes and radio paths that a continuous metal shell would constrain. The combination lets appearance, touch and function work together.

The interfaces matter more than the material labels. Review these points
  explicitly:

Radio path: avoid turning the antenna into a cavity behind
    conductive metal.

Thermal expansion: different materials move differently
    across temperature.

Cosmetic matching: gloss, texture, and reflected light can
make identical numerical colors look different.

Assembly stress: fasteners and clips should not warp the
    microphone path or moving cover.

Drop load: stiff metal can transfer impact into plastic
bosses or the battery unless loads are distributed.

Space Gray C1, with its disc and side connections in view.

How should controls be evaluated?

Control evaluation needs more than a render. Test reach, force, travel,
accidental activation, state feedback, gloves, one-handed use, and operation
without looking. A control that is visually minimal but difficult to locate by
touch adds capture friction at the exact moment the user wants to stay present
  in a conversation.

The USB-C port must also be reviewed as a mechanical interface: plug
clearance, cable bending, insertion cycles, board strain, and access while the
unit sits on a desk. Because C1 supports Bluetooth and USB-C but no Wi-Fi,
these physical connection states are part of the user’s mental model of where
  data can travel.

What makes a design review objective?

Review layer

Question

Evidence

Geometry

Does every part fit across tolerance extremes?

Tolerance stack and interference check

Acoustics

Does the final enclosure preserve the intended speech path?

Fixture recording with production-intent parts

Interaction

Can users start, stop, and identify recording state?

Task test and state-error log

Radio

Do metal, battery, and hand positions degrade the link?

OTA or controlled range test

Manufacturing

Can the design be assembled and inspected repeatedly?

Work instruction, gauge, and yield data

Service

Can faults be diagnosed without damaging good parts?

Disassembly trial and failure codes

A product should work well and feel worth having. The details you see and touch belong in the same design conversation as acoustics, fit and manufacture. For the engineering behind those details, continue with the EVT acoustic guide or the mechanical-indicator validation guide.

Choose Silver White for a lighter presence or Space Gray for a darker finish. Both bring the same one-press recording experience. Find the C1 for your desk.

Clear conversation notes start with sound capture. Learn how microphone placement, mechanical vibration and electronics affect a compact recorder’s audio.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

A voice recorder earns its place by helping you keep the words that matter. Clear capture starts before AI: the microphones, enclosure, moving parts and electronics all affect what reaches transcription. This guide shows how to separate those sources of noise and evaluate a design change against the same conversation sample.

This is an engineering validation method, not a report of faults found in a particular C1 or a published accuracy benchmark.

What must EVT prove for a compact voice recorder?

C1 combines two MEMS microphones, a moving recording indicator, a 1250 mAh
battery, storage, Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C, and local computer-side ASR inside a
60 × 64 × 20 mm enclosure. EVT must establish whether those parts can operate
simultaneously without violating the acoustic path, power integrity, radio
link, thermal envelope, or data lifecycle.

Begin with a block-level failure tree. “Bad transcript” is not a root cause.
It can originate in low acoustic signal-to-noise ratio, clipping, clock drift,
vibration, electrical coupling, packet loss, decoding, voice activity
detection, the ASR model, or incorrect language selection.

Sound source→Enclosure→MEMS mic→Signal path→Transfer→Decoder→ASR

How do you separate acoustic noise from electrical noise?

Use controlled substitutions. Record the same calibrated or repeatable speech
source in at least four states: board outside the enclosure, board in the
enclosure, turntable disabled, and turntable active. Repeat on battery and
while charging. If the artifact follows the enclosure or motor state,
investigate acoustic transmission and vibration. If it follows charging or
digital activity, investigate power and electromagnetic coupling.

Microsoft’s audio hardware guidance identifies both external/internal acoustic
noise and electrical noise as received-noise sources. It recommends treating
microphone placement and integration as primary speech-recognition factors.
  Practical EVT measurements include:

noise floor with the sound source off;

frequency response with a fixed source and geometry;

clipping margin at near speech levels;

channel gain and phase matching between the two microphones;

spectral peaks correlated with motor speed, DC/DC switching, USB activity,
    or radio bursts;

transcript critical-term recall on the same recorded corpus.

Save raw captures and configuration metadata. A screenshot of a favorable
waveform is not enough to reproduce a result.

How should PCB layout protect the microphone path?

The exact layout depends on whether the MEMS microphones provide analog or
digital output, but the review logic is stable. Keep sensitive microphone
routes short, provide an intentional return path, separate them from switching
nodes and motor current, decouple at the device pins, and avoid routing across
gaps in the reference plane. Do not place a high-current return so that it
shares impedance with the microphone reference.

For digital microphones, clock edge integrity and return current still matter.
“Digital” does not mean immune to power noise, radiated coupling, or timing
errors. For analog microphones, gain-stage noise, bias stability, and ADC
  reference quality become additional variables.

Use a current probe, near-field probe, oscilloscope, or temporary firmware
modes to correlate artifacts with subsystems. An EVT board should provide test
points for rails, reset, clocks, microphone data, motor drive, and ground.
Removing every test point to save space can make the next failure much more
  expensive to diagnose.

The silver turntable beneath C1's transparent cover.

How do you test structure-borne vibration from the turntable?

Test with the same speech source while the mechanism is off, starting, at
steady state, and stopping. A slow mechanism can still produce tonal energy
from gear mesh, eccentricity, bearing contact, or pulse-width-modulated drive.
Compare microphone spectra and time-domain events with a reference
accelerometer or contact sensor on the housing if available.

Change one mechanical variable at a time: motor mount, isolation element, gear
preload, part balance, clearance, or microphone gasket. If multiple changes
are made together, a quieter result cannot identify which change mattered or
whether a new reliability risk was introduced.

How do you close an EVT issue?

An issue closes only when the team has a reproducible setup, before/after
data, an identified design change, the change in the controlled source files,
and a regression test. A bench wire or foam patch is diagnostic evidence, not
  a released fix.

Track the measurement uncertainty and sample count. One quiet unit cannot
  establish manufacturing capability. EVT establishes mechanisms and margins;
DVT validates the complete behavior, and
PVT checks repeatability at production intent.

C1 is built for spoken ideas and conversations, with two MEMS microphones and a tested effective pickup range of 5 m. Place it near the speakers and account for room noise and overlapping voices. OneMira Desktop transcribes on your Mac or PC; you can also choose to retain stereo WAV recordings for listening back. Explore C1 for your next conversation.

A practical guide to testing local transcription: useful notes, recovery, audio-retention choices and data boundaries, with OneMira C1 as the architecture example.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

A useful transcript lets you return to the words that matter: a name, a decision or the reason a plan changed. Testing a local recorder should follow that whole journey, from capture to a readable note on your computer. This guide explains the checks behind that goal, including recovery, audio retention and the privacy boundary.

This is a validation guide, not a published C1 benchmark report. The scenarios below describe acceptance checks; they do not claim measured results for every condition.

What is the system under test?

The approved C1 architecture divides work across two devices. C1 performs
capture and on-device voice activity detection, stores encrypted audio slices
temporarily, and transfers over Bluetooth or USB-C. The paired macOS or
Windows computer performs local ASR and speaker labeling, writes local OKF
Markdown, and instructs C1 to delete each slice after transcription
  consumption.

This state model covers temporary device-side capture and transfer slices. It does not define the retention of saved original recordings: users choose in OneMira Settings whether to keep that audio. Test that choice separately, so clearing a consumed transfer slice is not mistaken for deleting every copy of the recording.

That boundary creates at least six observable states:

Captured: a complete or recoverable slice exists on C1.

Staged: the computer has copied the slice but has not
    committed a note.

Transcribed: ASR produced candidate text.

Committed: the Markdown note and its metadata are durably
    written.

Acknowledged: the sync state records that the slice was
    consumed.

Released: C1 deleted the source slice.

The destructive transition is last. If a process crashes between staging and
commit, the source must remain recoverable. If commit succeeds but deletion
acknowledgement is lost, the next run must identify the already-consumed slice
  and avoid a duplicate note.

Captured→Staged→Transcribed→Committed→Acknowledged→Released

How should the interruption matrix be tested?

Inject failure at every boundary, then verify both sides. “The app recovered”
is not enough; compare file hashes, note counts, device inventory, and state
  pointers before and after restart.

Injected failure

Expected device state

Expected computer state

Power loss during capture

Earlier slices intact; active slice complete or explicitly marked
        invalid

No fabricated note

Disconnect during transfer

Source slice retained

Partial staging file ignored or resumed

Process killed during ASR

Source slice retained

No committed duplicate; retry allowed

Power loss during note write

Source slice retained

Atomic write leaves old state or complete new note

Disconnect after commit, before delete

Source may remain

Processed hash prevents retranscription; delete can retry

Corrupted slice

Not deleted until a local quarantine copy is verified

Error and source provenance preserved

How do you validate transcription without inventing one accuracy number?

Word error rate is useful for a fixed labeled corpus, but it can hide the
errors that matter to work. Build a versioned evaluation set containing quiet
speech, low-volume speech, keyboard noise, accents and supported languages,
overlapping speakers, domain terms, names, dates, numbers, and negation. Keep
the hardware placement and source level recorded with each sample.

Report at least three layers:

WER or CER on the labeled corpus, with model and decoder
    versions.

Critical-term recall for identifiers, numbers, names, and
    negative instructions.

Task usability: whether a reviewer can derive the intended
decision without replaying the entire recording.

Do not compare two ASR systems on different audio, language settings, or
  post-processing rules.

What does VAD validation need to measure?

Voice activity detection changes what reaches ASR. An aggressive threshold can
clip quiet syllables or the start of a sentence; a permissive threshold can
retain long noise regions. Test false rejection, false acceptance, boundary
truncation, and fragmentation against labeled time intervals. Then inspect
the downstream transcript, because a small timing error may delete a critical
negation even when aggregate VAD metrics look acceptable.

C1's saved original recordings use stereo WAV format. That does not establish the codec, sample rate, or bit depth of internal transfer or processing data. For decoder tests, document the actual format and settings of each fixture, then verify duration, channel count, and end-to-end integrity on the files being tested. RFC 6716 is a reference for Opus test cases, not evidence of C1's internal configuration.

A close look at C1's metal edge, white rear panel, and clear cover.

How should privacy claims be verified?

“Local” is an architecture claim that can be tested. Capture DNS and network
traffic while recording, transferring, transcribing, searching, and exporting.
The OneMira product claim is narrower than “nothing ever uses the internet”:
OneMira speech recognition and transcription run on the paired computer, while
any third-party AI service selected by the user follows that provider’s data
  path.

A privacy test should therefore record:

which process opens each network connection;

    whether audio bytes or only update/telemetry metadata leave the machine;

    where temporary audio, model caches, logs, and transcripts are stored;

when device and local temporary files are deleted;

whether a third-party agent receives a selected excerpt or the full note.

Local processing can reduce one class of cloud exposure, but it does not
automatically satisfy GDPR, HIPAA, employment policy, or recording-consent
law. Compliance depends on purpose, consent, access control, retention,
jurisdiction, and the downstream tools used.

What evidence closes DVT?

For every requirement, retain the test version, device and software build,
input fixture, expected result, measured result, logs, hashes, screenshots
where useful, and disposition. Re-run the matrix on both supported
operating-system families. A passing happy path on one powerful computer does
not validate recovery, low-resource behavior, or another platform.

  The troubleshooting documentation should
map user-visible errors to these states. Production repeatability then moves
  to the PVT guide.

What does local processing mean for your day?

With C1 and OneMira Desktop, your Mac or PC handles transcription and the included local AI can turn conversations into notes and mind maps. After the required downloads, you can use that path offline without a OneMira account or subscription. Choose in Settings whether to keep the original recording as stereo WAV, alongside editable local notes.

Why C1’s quiet rotating disc is a useful recording cue, and how mechanical indicators can be checked for motion, noise and production consistency.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

A glance at C1’s turning disc tells you it is recording, so your attention can stay with the person speaking. That small movement is both a design detail and a practical cue. This guide explains what production validation must check to make a mechanical indicator quiet, visible and consistent across units.

The sections below describe a production-validation method, not published measurements of C1 manufacturing yield or acoustic performance.

What makes a moving indicator a production risk?

The C1 turntable performs two jobs: it communicates recording state and it
rotates near two sensitive microphones. Variation in molded parts, shafts,
bearings, gears, fasteners, adhesives, motor drive, and final assembly can
change speed, runout, contact, current, and vibration. A unit can look correct
while producing a tonal artifact in recorded speech.

PVT therefore needs a chain from design characteristic to measurement:

Characteristic

Possible defect

Production evidence

Axial/radial clearance

Contact, wobble, intermittent stall

Gauge or displacement measurement

Rotation speed

State cue too fast, slow, or unstable

Optical timing over a defined interval

Motor current

Binding, damaged gear, wrong preload

Current profile during start and steady state

Structure-borne noise

Gear or imbalance tone enters microphones

Fixture spectrum and reference recording

Visual state

No motion, wrong direction, occlusion

Camera or operator functional check

Cover clearance

Scrape, optical distortion, cosmetic rub

Go/no-go and visual standard

How should the tolerance stack be built?

Start at the functional gap, not at individual drawing dimensions. Identify
every contributor between the rotating part and fixed cover: datum selection,
housing flatness, boss height, bearing or shaft fit, gear stack, adhesive
thickness, and assembly force. Evaluate worst-case limits and statistical
  variation separately. Worst-case analysis protects interchangeability;
statistical analysis predicts typical yield only when the process distribution
  is known.

Measurement systems need their own validation. If a gauge’s repeatability and
reproducibility consume a large part of the tolerance, production data will
classify good and bad units inconsistently. PVT should include fixture
correlation, calibration, golden units, and a method for checking drift at the
  start of a shift.

C1's dark turntable and clear cover, seen up close.

How do you build an acoustic end-of-line test?

A useful fixture controls source signal, device location, room or enclosure
response, microphone path, and analysis window. Run a known speech or
broadband stimulus with the mechanism off and active. Compare defined spectral
bands and the resulting recorded file against approved limits and reference
units. The goal is not to make a factory room acoustically perfect; it is to
  create a repeatable discriminator.

Do not let software conceal a mechanical defect. If aggressive noise
suppression removes a gear tone in the final transcript, also inspect a
pre-suppression or diagnostic capture. Conversely, do not reject a unit solely
because a generic sound-level reading includes harmless room noise. The test
  must target the defect mechanism.

Which stations should verify the complete product?

Incoming and subassembly checks: critical part identity,
dimensions, motor/gear behavior, battery and board traceability.

In-process checks: connector alignment, microphone seals,
fastener torque or controlled fastening result, moving clearance.

End-of-line functional test: boot, controls, LED/state
feedback, turntable motion, microphones, storage, Bluetooth, USB-C,
    charging, and identifiers.

System transaction test: record a known clip, transfer it,
verify the computer receives a decodable file, commit the note path, and
    confirm the intended device state.

Audit test: periodic deeper acoustic, battery, radio, and
mechanical sampling that would be too slow for every unit.

End-of-line tests should save a compact result keyed to the unit identifier:
station, fixture, software version, measurements, pass/fail, and failure code.
Avoid saving customer-like voice content; use a controlled fixture signal.

How do you establish process capability?

Capability statistics are meaningful only after the process is stable and the
specification limits are justified. Plot distributions by cavity, line,
supplier lot, fixture, and shift. Investigate multimodal data instead of
compressing it into one average. A high overall pass rate can hide one cavity
that repeatedly produces marginal clearance or one fixture that drifts.

Run production-intent samples through temperature, handling, charging, and
transport conditions, then repeat the functional and acoustic checks. The
mechanism should not pass only before settling, wear-in, or shipping
  vibration.

What is the reaction plan when a unit fails?

A failure code must point to a containment action. Stop or quarantine the
affected scope, confirm the fixture, preserve the unit, identify the last
known good point, and trace common lots or stations. Rework needs an approved
instruction and a full retest of functions that the rework could disturb.

Never “tune until pass” without recording the adjustment. That practice erases
process information and can produce units with no known margin. PVT closes
when the line, fixtures, limits, work instructions, traceability, and reaction
  plan all operate together.

How does PVT connect to user-visible claims?

Public claims such as up to 30 hours of recording, approximately 5 m pickup
range, two microphones, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB-C need controlled verification
outside the cosmetic inspection flow. Manufacturing documents can contain
tighter internal limits, but public content should use only approved,
  repeatable product specifications.

For the earlier root-cause method, see the
  EVT acoustics and PCB guide.
For the full capture-to-delete state matrix, see the
  DVT local transcription guide.

Keep the reasons behind a decision available for your next AI task. Connect spoken context, local notes and source references without starting every session from scratch.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

Give your AI the reason behind the decision, not just the final instruction. A desk conversation can explain why an option was rejected, which constraint matters and what the team agreed. C1 captures that spoken context so you can return to it in local notes and bring the relevant parts into a compatible AI workflow.

Why does spoken context disappear from AI work?

Agents normally begin with artifacts: source code, issues, design files,
project rules, and documents. A desk conversation is absent unless somebody
turns it into an artifact. The missing information is often not the final
decision but the rejected options, constraints, owners, and uncertainty that
explain why the decision was reasonable.

A useful capture system therefore needs to preserve four layers:

Observation: what was actually said, with timestamps or
    speaker boundaries where available.

Interpretation: a summary, decision, task, or contradiction
    derived from the transcript.

Provenance: when and where the text came from, plus a link
    to the source session.

Disposition: whether the information remains raw, becomes
durable project knowledge, or is deleted.

If interpretation overwrites observation, later reviewers cannot tell whether
a confident sentence was spoken or inferred. Keeping raw notes and derived
notes as separate files or clearly separated sections makes correction
  possible.

What is the minimum capture-to-context pipeline?

Conversation→Capture→Local ASR→Review→Markdown→Agent retrieval

The pipeline has two independent quality gates. The first is
transcription fidelity: did the text preserve names, numbers,
negation, and domain terms? The second is knowledge fidelity:
did the derived decision retain its rationale and uncertainty? A fluent
  summary can pass neither gate.

C1 captures the conversation; OneMira Desktop transcribes and labels speakers on your paired computer. Keep editable local Markdown and, if you choose in Settings, the original stereo WAV recording to revisit a detail. See the C1 specifications for hardware and compatibility.

OneMira Desktop can generate notes and mind maps with its included local model after the required downloads. Its Wiki connects related conversations and decisions for later work. Files, CLI and MCP let you optionally continue with your existing agent; the selected model and agent determine what leaves your computer. See the AI processing options.

Silver White C1, with its turntable visible through the clear cover.

Why use Markdown instead of a proprietary note database?

Markdown is not automatically better than a database. Its advantage is
interoperability. A plain-text note can be inspected with an editor, searched
  with
rg
, versioned with Git, opened in Obsidian, and passed to an
agent without first exporting from a vendor portal. GitHub Flavored Markdown
also has a published syntax specification, so headings, tables, links, and
  code blocks have predictable semantics.

A practical session file should include stable metadata rather than decorative
  fields. For example:

---
kind: session
session_id: s_20260716_093000
created_at: 2026-07-16T09:30:00+08:00
source: c1
review_status: reviewed

# Checkout retry discussion

## Decision
Retry idempotent payment-status reads, not payment creation.

## Rationale
Creating a second payment can duplicate an external side effect.

The identifier lets software link derived notes back to the session. The
review state tells an agent whether it may treat the text as verified. Dates
should use an explicit time zone; filenames alone are a weak source of truth
because clocks can be wrong and files can be renamed.

How should an agent retrieve local context safely?

The official MCP architecture separates a host, clients, and servers. A server
can expose tools or resources, but the host controls the connection and user
interaction. For local servers, the MCP security guidance recommends

stdio
where practical, minimal filesystem and network privileges,
explicit consent, and careful review of startup commands.

That leads to a bounded pattern for voice context:

Expose search and read operations before write or delete operations.

Constrain the server to the OneMira note root instead of the entire home
    directory.

Return short excerpts and source paths, then retrieve a full note only when
    needed.

Keep third-party model disclosure separate from local retrieval. A local
file does not stay local if its text is pasted into a cloud model.

Log which local tool ran without logging transcript content or credentials.

The OneMira MCP documentation explains the supported
  local workflow. The companion
  Cursor setup and security guide
  adds a concrete verification sequence.

How do you measure whether the loop works?

Do not measure success by transcript volume. Use an acceptance set drawn from
real work and score the points that can change an outcome:

Check

Objective pass condition

Failure example

Critical-term recall

Names, numbers, negation, and identifiers match the reviewed audio

“Do not retry” becomes “retry”

Decision provenance

Every derived decision links to a source session

Rule appears with no traceable origin

Retrieval precision

A scoped query returns the relevant note before unrelated sessions

Broad keyword floods the context window

Disclosure control

The user can identify what text leaves the computer

Agent silently sends an entire transcript archive

Recovery

An interrupted transfer can resume without duplicate notes or premature
        deletion

Source audio is removed before note commit

Review false positives as carefully as missed items. A system that invents a
decision can be more damaging than one that asks for clarification.

What should become durable project knowledge?

Promote information only when it changes future work: an approved constraint,
a rejected architecture with a reason, a named owner, a user requirement, or a
reproducible failure. Social conversation, repeated status updates, and
uncertain guesses normally stay in the session or expire.

A scheduled agent can propose changes to project rules or a wiki, but the
proposal should include a diff and source link. C1 is the capture and
local-context layer; it does not independently decide which conversation
  becomes policy.

Keep notes on your computer, or use a cloud workspace. Compare the choices that affect offline work, sharing and control of your recordings.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

Local transcription turns speech into text on your computer; cloud transcription processes the recording on a provider's servers. The choice affects how you work offline, keep your own files and share the result. Look at recording, transcription and AI generation separately so you can choose a workflow that fits your day.

Sources checked October 19, 2026. This is a comparison of documented data workflows, not a hands-on accuracy test.

Which stages make up a voice-AI data path?

“Local” and “cloud” are not single switches. Map each stage independently:

microphone capture and buffering;

voice activity detection and audio enhancement;

device-to-phone or device-to-computer transfer;

speech recognition and speaker labeling;

summary or extraction by a language model;

indexing, search, sharing, and backup;

retention and deletion of audio, text, logs, and derived data.

A recorder can perform VAD locally, upload audio for ASR, keep transcripts in
a cloud account, and later export a local file. Calling that entire system
either “local” or “cloud” hides the actual boundary.

<strong>Managed cloud path</strong><span>Recorder → app → vendor/provider endpoint → account workspace →
  export</span>

<strong>OneMira path</strong><span>C1 → Bluetooth/USB-C → local transcription and built-in AI notes → local files; optional model service or agent</span>

What does a current cloud-first recorder path look like?

Plaud’s official May 2026 policy describes local storage by default and optional Private Cloud Sync. Requested AI tasks send necessary data to providers; results return to the app or enabled sync. Provider retention is task-limited, and model training requires explicit consent. Transfers use TLS 1.2 or later.

That is more precise than saying “your data is safe in the cloud.” It
identifies processors, transport, provider retention, account storage, and
optional cloud sync. A buyer should still read the privacy policy and
data-processing terms for jurisdiction, subprocessors, account retention,
  support access, and deletion behavior.

Keep your working record on your own computer

C1 transfers recordings to your paired Mac or Windows PC over Bluetooth 5.4 or USB-C. OneMira Desktop transcribes and labels speakers there, keeping your notes as editable local Markdown. In Settings, choose whether to retain the original audio as stereo WAV files. OneMira Desktop requires no OneMira account.

After the software and model downloads, the included local AI creates meeting notes and mind maps offline. You can keep this workflow local or connect a model service with your API key; compatible agents can connect through optional CLI/MCP. Content you choose to send to a remote service follows that service's data terms and fees.

A side view of C1 in Space Gray.

What are the operational trade-offs?

Audio may cross vendor/provider endpoints as documented

Plan dependency

Often minutes/features by tier

No OneMira local-transcription minute quota

Backup

Vendor-managed account retention may help

User must design local backup and access controls

Collaboration

Sharing and admin commonly built in

Uses files and the user’s chosen collaboration tools

How can you verify a “local” claim?

Use a clean supported computer and a controlled recording. Install required
models, disconnect the internet, transcribe, search, export, and restart.
Record which features pass. Then repeat online while capturing DNS and network
connections. Inspect process activity and local file paths. The evidence
should distinguish update checks and telemetry from audio or transcript
  transfer.

Also test deletion and recovery. If audio is removed immediately after a UI
says “done,” interrupt the process just before that point and verify that a
recoverable source still exists. Local storage without transactional behavior
can lose data just as cloud storage can.

Does local processing guarantee compliance?

No. It can reduce the number of processors and avoid one shared audio
workspace, but compliance depends on lawful purpose, participant notice or
consent, access controls, endpoint security, retention, deletion, backup,
incident response, organization, jurisdiction, and downstream services. A
local transcript on an unencrypted shared laptop may be less controlled than a
  well-governed enterprise cloud system.

Use a data-flow diagram and retention table in the actual compliance review.
  Marketing labels are not evidence.

Which architecture should you choose?

Choose a managed cloud path when collaboration, central administration,
provider-managed model updates, and minimal endpoint setup are priorities.
Choose local computer processing when offline operation, local audio handling,
user-owned files, and freedom from recorder-side transcription quotas are
priorities. Hybrid designs can be reasonable when users can see and control
  which stage crosses the network.

Decisions, next steps and notes you can revisit. A practical guide to OneMira C1's offline workflow on Mac and Windows.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

Turn a conversation into notes you can act on, even when your computer is offline. C1 captures the discussion while OneMira Desktop transcribes and generates meeting notes on your Mac or PC. After the software and model downloads, the included local AI works without sending that content to a cloud service. No OneMira account or recurring OneMira subscription is needed.

OneMira workflow guide, updated October 19, 2026

What does an offline AI note taker actually do?

An offline note-taking workflow needs to handle both speech-to-text and note generation locally. Recording without a connection, transcribing speech, and generating a summary are separate capabilities. Check each one instead of assuming that an “offline recorder” includes all three.

Capture on C1. The recorder captures speech and temporarily stores encrypted audio slices.

Transcribe on your computer. OneMira Desktop turns speech into readable text with speaker labels.

Generate notes locally. A downloaded model on your computer creates meeting notes or mind maps.

Keep usable text. Local Markdown files remain available to search, edit, and open with your own tools.

“On-device transcription” needs a clear device name. For C1, that device is your computer. The recorder itself does not turn speech into a finished transcript or summary. Optional cloud AI services are a separate choice.

How do conversations become meeting notes with OneMira C1?

Press C1 to capture the conversation, then use OneMira Desktop to transcribe and organize it locally. The physical recording control keeps your phone free for other tasks.

Set up once. Install OneMira Desktop, pair C1, and complete the required software and model downloads. Desktop recommends a local model size for your computer.

Capture the conversation. Press C1 to start. The turntable rotates to show that recording is active. C1 connects to the paired computer through Bluetooth or USB-C.

Use the transcript as it grows. When connected, Desktop transcribes speech locally in real time. The conversation can become usable context while the meeting is still in progress.

Generate and review notes. Use the built-in local model for meeting notes or a mind map. Check important names, numbers, decisions, and commitments before sharing the result.

A useful brief for your notes is: “Summarize the discussion, separate confirmed decisions from suggestions, and list the next steps. Include an owner or deadline only when one was actually stated.” This gives you a practical record to review rather than a polished paragraph that hides unresolved questions.

Read the OneMira setup guide for pairing and supported capture workflows.

A close view of C1's USB-C port and clear cover.

Can I get AI meeting notes without a subscription?

Yes. OneMira's built-in local workflow does not require a recurring OneMira plan or an external AI subscription. Local transcription is not billed by the minute. You buy the C1 hardware and use your own computer for processing and storage.

You can also choose a third-party AI service or a model hosted on your local network. Those choices have their own setup, network requirements, and possible fees. You do not need to connect ChatGPT, Claude, or another external assistant to use the built-in local model.

When comparing subscription-free AI voice recorders, check whether the included capability is recording, transcription, generated notes, or all three. Also check any limits on history, exports, or processing time. “No subscription” alone does not describe the complete workflow.

What computer and setup do I need?

You need a supported Mac or Windows computer running OneMira Desktop. Start with the current desktop downloads and setup instructions, then choose the recommended local model for your machine.

Allow time and storage for the initial downloads before taking the workflow offline. Model size and your computer's capabilities affect local processing; this guide does not promise identical speed on every laptop. For supported online-call capture, check the operating-system requirements in the setup guide as well.

C1 can capture away from the computer for later local processing. That is different from producing a live transcript while the recorder is disconnected.

Where do the recordings and notes go?

In the built-in local workflow, transcription and note generation happen on your computer. The resulting notes are local Markdown files that you can open, edit, and back up with your own tools.

Keep the recording when you want it. In OneMira Settings, choose to retain the original audio as stereo WAV files for replay or verification. Your editable notes stay in local Markdown files. Back up the recordings and notes you want to keep with the tools you choose.

If you choose to send notes to an external AI service, that service's data handling applies. Local transcription does not make a later cloud request local. Likewise, any backup or synchronization tool you choose determines where its copies are stored.

How can I check the offline workflow before relying on it?

Try a short, non-sensitive conversation on the computer you plan to use. Complete installation first, select the built-in local model, and then disconnect the computer from the internet while keeping the C1 connection available.

Capture a few minutes containing names, numbers, and a clear decision.

Check the transcript against what was actually said.

Generate meeting notes and check that they preserve the decision and its context.

Open the resulting local text and confirm that you can find it again.

This checks whether the selected workflow works offline for your setup. It is not a test of every network behavior or a guarantee of accuracy in every room.

Your next conversation, ready for the work that follows

A project discussion can become a decision record; an interview can become notes to build on; a spoken idea can become a plan. C1 gives those conversations a dedicated recording control and a local path into useful notes. Keep your phone available, then use the results on the computer where you do your work.

Keep your phone free while C1 captures the conversation. Compare one-press recording, battery, transcription and file access with using your phone.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

A dedicated recorder gives the conversation a place of its own, while your phone stays free. With C1, one press starts capture and a quiet rotating turntable shows that you are recording. A phone is convenient for quick memos; C1 adds a physical recording habit and a path from spoken ideas to useful local notes.

Sources checked 19 October 2026. Software features and plans can change; current official sources are linked below.

What can an iPhone already do well?

Apple Voice Memos records with the built-in or an external microphone,
supports pause/resume and editing, and on supported models can record mono,
stereo, or Spatial Audio. Apple’s current support documentation says
transcription is available on iPhone 12 or later for a defined set of
languages and regions. Users can copy the transcript into another document.

For occasional capture, that is a strong baseline: no extra hardware,
immediate playback, editing, and integration with the Apple ecosystem. If
Voice Memos is enabled in iCloud, recordings appear on other signed-in Apple
devices. The trade-off is that another app that starts playing audio can stop
Voice Memos, and the phone remains responsible for calls, navigation,
authentication, camera use, notifications, and battery.

What does dedicated hardware change?

Put C1 on the table for an interview, or press once to catch an idea while your phone handles the map. At 85 g, it is easy to carry between conversations. Its own battery provides up to 30 hours of continuous recording, and the rotating turntable gives you a visible cue without checking a screen.

Record on C1 alone, then reconnect to OneMira Desktop on your Mac or PC for transcription and AI notes. Connected to the computer, it also supports live transcription. Two MEMS microphones provide a tested effective pickup range of 5 m; room acoustics and placement still affect the result. Let participants know before recording.

C1's silver disc, clear cover, and side detail in one view.

How do phone and recorder workflows compare?

Decision factor

Smartphone

Dedicated recorder

Extra hardware

None if you already own the phone

Separate device, charger/cable, and lifecycle

Readiness

App, lock state, and current phone task matter

Purpose-built control can remain ready

Interruption

Calls or audio from another app can affect recording behavior

Independent of phone apps; device-specific limits still apply

Battery coupling

Shares the phone’s battery

Independent battery; another device to charge

Recording visibility

On-screen system indicator

Can provide room-visible physical state, depending on product

Transcription path

OS/app-specific, model/language dependent

May be local, cloud, or hybrid—verify the vendor

File ownership

Export possible; ecosystem sync may be convenient

Ranges from proprietary cloud to local files

Cost

Marginal cost can be zero

Hardware price; some vendors add transcription plans

How does C1 differ from a cloud-connected AI recorder?

Dedicated recorders are not one category architecturally. Plaud Note’s
official product page currently lists 64 GB storage, two MEMS microphones plus
one vibration pickup unit, a 400 mAh battery, BLE 5.2/Wi-Fi, a 9.84 ft
recording range, and 300 transcription minutes per month in the included
Starter plan. Plaud’s official policy says requested AI features send necessary data to AI providers, which must not retain it beyond the task.

OneMira transcription and speaker labeling run on your computer. After the required software and model downloads, Desktop's built-in local model can independently generate meeting notes and mind maps offline. You choose in Settings whether to retain the original audio as stereo WAV files. No recurring OneMira plan is required, and local transcription is not metered by the minute. Model services connected with your API key and compatible agents through CLI/MCP are optional; content you send to outside services follows their terms and fees.

This is an architecture difference, not a claim that one model is always more
accurate or convenient. Cloud services can provide immediate cross-device
access and centrally updated models. Local systems can operate without an
upload path and keep durable notes as user-owned files, but they consume local
  compute and storage.

Which microphone specifications actually matter?

Microphone count does not determine capture quality by itself. Placement,
array geometry, sensitivity matching, enclosure openings, received noise,
signal processing, source distance, room reverberation, and the ASR pipeline
all matter. Microsoft’s hardware guidance explicitly treats microphone
integration and array geometry as critical for speech recognition.

Compare a short sample in the setting you actually use: a client interview, a desk discussion or a spoken idea. Check whether the words and names you need are clear, then look at how easily you can turn them into your next piece of work.

Which option should you choose?

Choose the phone when recording is occasional, the phone
can remain dedicated during capture, built-in transcription supports your
language, and its export path is sufficient.

Choose dedicated hardware when sessions are frequent or
long, phone interruption is costly, a physical recording state is valuable,
or the output must feed a repeatable local workflow.

Choose a cloud service when immediate web sharing,
centralized collaboration, and managed models outweigh upload and
    recurring-plan considerations.

Choose local transcription when offline operation, local
audio processing, open files, and predictable recorder-side costs matter—and
your computer can provide the compute.

For the data-path decision, continue with
Cloud vs. local AI voice recorders. For costs, use the

Compare Markdown and meeting-note apps for everyday use, team sharing and long-term file access. See how C1 combines a local app with notes you can keep using.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

Choose notes that help you act today and stay useful when your tools change. A managed app can make team sharing easy; Markdown keeps the text readable in other editors and AI workflows. You can have an app for the everyday experience and local files for the freedom to use your notes elsewhere.

What job should a meeting note perform after the meeting?

A meeting note should help someone recover a decision, its rationale, its
owner, and the source session. A polished one-time summary may look useful on
the day it is created but fail two months later when a builder asks why an
architecture was rejected or which customer constraint changed the plan.

That long-term job requires more than text quality. The note needs a stable
location, predictable structure, provenance, search, and a way to move into
the tools that perform the next task. For a product manager that may be a
brief; for a developer it may be an issue, rule, or code change; for a
designer it may be a decision log. The note is an input, not the final
  destination.

When is an app-centered workspace the better answer?

An app is often the better choice when a company wants centralized access,
managed identity, automatic calendar association, one search interface, and
standard templates. The vendor can update models, repair workflows, and make
the same meeting visible to teammates without asking them to understand file
  synchronization or Git.

Those benefits matter. A shared operations team should not be forced to
become file-system administrators merely to use meeting notes. An app can
also enforce retention and permissions more consistently than an unmanaged
folder copied among laptops—if the organization configures and audits it
  correctly.

The trade-off appears when export is incomplete, history depends on a paid
tier, an integration fires before review, or the buyer changes agents. A good
integration moves data between two systems. It does not necessarily create a
durable layer the user controls outside both systems.

What does Markdown change?

Markdown is plain text with lightweight structure. A heading remains a
heading in many editors; a link remains inspectable; a YAML front matter block
can carry session metadata. Obsidian's official documentation describes notes
as Markdown files stored in a local vault folder. Git can record changes to
almost any file over time, making a note's history reviewable.

This creates useful independence. A builder can open the note with a text
  editor, search it with
rg
, parse it with a script, version it with
Git, index it locally, or expose selected files to a compatible agent. The
note does not require the original recorder company's interface merely to be

What structure makes a local note useful to an agent?

Plain text is not automatically good context. A folder of unnamed transcript
dumps can be as difficult to use as an app with weak search. A durable note
should separate source material from interpretation and carry enough metadata
to answer where it came from.

# Checkout architecture review

## Decision
Use idempotent status reads after a payment timeout.

## Rationale
Repeating payment creation can duplicate an external side effect.

The session identifier and timestamp preserve provenance. The review state
distinguishes captured text from text someone has checked. Decisions and
rationale remain separate, so an agent can retrieve the conclusion without
losing the reason. This structure should stay small; metadata that nobody
  uses becomes maintenance noise.

How can ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or another agent use the files?

There are three broad patterns. First, the user can attach or paste a selected
file. Second, a local CLI can search and return a bounded excerpt. Third, an
MCP server can expose approved tools or resources. The official MCP overview
describes the protocol as a standard way for AI applications to connect to
external systems. OpenAI's current MCP server documentation likewise describes
an MCP server as the layer that defines tools and returns structured data to
  ChatGPT.

Exact capabilities depend on the client, plan, configuration, and current
product version. “Supports MCP” does not mean every client can reach every
local file in the same way. It also does not mean broad access is desirable.
Prefer a server rooted to the note directory, read-only search before write
tools, short excerpts before full files, and an explicit user choice before
material is sent to a third-party model.

The OneMira MCP documentation covers the supported
local path. For a concrete client workflow, use the
Cursor MCP setup and security guide.

What are the real costs of an open-file workflow?

Setup: someone must choose folders, sync behavior, backups,
    permissions, and naming conventions.

Local compute: transcription and indexing consume computer
resources instead of disappearing into a vendor invoice.

Review: an open file can carry a wrong speaker label just as
easily as an app can. Portability does not create accuracy.

Disclosure: the user must understand when a local excerpt is
sent to a remote AI service and which provider terms then apply.

Collaboration: a folder is not automatically a polished
    multi-user permission system.

Can you have an easy app and files of your own?

With C1, you can. OneMira Desktop transcribes on your Mac or PC and uses its built-in local AI to create notes and mind maps. Your editable Markdown files remain available beyond OneMira, so a discussion can become a project brief today and useful context for another tool later.

After the required downloads, the included workflow runs offline with no OneMira account or subscription. You do not need to set up an external agent. CLI and MCP are there if you want to connect a compatible AI workspace; its permissions and data terms apply.

Keep the recording when a detail matters. Learn when to retain meeting audio and how C1 pairs optional stereo WAV recordings with editable local notes.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

Keep meeting audio when you want to check a quote, hear the tone behind an answer, or revisit a detail the transcript missed. For everyday follow-ups, a reviewed note is often quicker to use than a full recording. Keeping both gives you a working record and a source to return to. Set a retention period that matches your purpose and any applicable requirements.

Why keep audio after a transcript exists?

Audio is the closest available source for checking what was said. It can
resolve a number, name, tone, interruption, or speaker-label error that the
transcript missed. Journalists, researchers, media producers, accessibility
teams, and people creating a formal record may need replay. In those cases,
deleting the source immediately can remove the only practical correction
  path.

Audio also carries information that plain text does not: pauses, emphasis,
overlapping speech, pronunciation, and environmental context. If those
qualities are part of the job, a transcript is a derivative, not a
replacement. The retention policy should protect the source for a stated
period and control who can play, copy, export, or share it.

The mistake is retaining audio indefinitely merely because storage is
available. A useful source can become an unmanaged archive when its purpose,
owner, review date, and deletion condition are undefined.

Why delete raw audio and keep the note?

Many work conversations are captured for one narrow outcome: remember the
decision, task, rationale, or customer need. Once a reviewed note serves that
outcome, the raw recording may add little daily value while remaining a more
  sensitive and space-intensive artifact.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission describes data minimization as limiting
collection and retention and disposing of information when it is no longer
needed. NIST's Privacy Framework treats disposal as part of the complete data
lifecycle, alongside collection, use, sharing, and retention. Neither source
says every recording should be deleted immediately. They support making the
retention decision explicit rather than accidental.

Deleting audio can reduce one exposure surface, but the transcript can still
contain sensitive personal or business information. “No audio archive” is
not the same as “no privacy risk.” Notes still need access controls, backups,
deletion rules, and careful third-party disclosure.

C1 in Silver White. Choose in Settings whether to retain the original audio.

What does deletion actually mean in a product workflow?

“Deleted” can describe several different events. A recording may disappear
from the main interface but remain in a recently deleted folder, backup,
synchronized device, export, server copy, or downstream integration. Apple,
for example, documents that Voice Memos recordings normally move to Recently
Deleted and remain there for 30 days by default, with a setting that changes
  the period.

A serious retention review asks about each layer separately:

raw audio on the capture device;

audio transferred to a phone or computer;

cloud upload or temporary processing copy;

transcript and speaker labels;

summary, decisions, and action items;

exports, backups, integrations, and AI prompts;

deleted-item recovery windows and provider backups.

A product can delete one layer while retaining another. Granola's official
documentation, for example, describes an automatic transcript-deletion
option. That is evidence that retention controls can be product-specific and
configurable; it is not evidence that every user wants the same lifecycle.

Keep the original audio with OneMira C1

C1 lets you stay with the conversation and keep a copy to return to. In OneMira Desktop Settings, choose to retain the original recording as a stereo WAV file. Pair it with speaker-labeled transcripts and editable local Markdown notes, so you can check a quote without making audio your everyday filing system.

The included local AI can create meeting notes and mind maps on your Mac or PC after the required software and model downloads. No OneMira account or subscription is needed for that workflow. You can choose a model service or compatible external agent when you want to use your existing tools.

OneMira does not upload C1 audio to a shared OneMira cloud workspace. If the
resulting text is later sent to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or another
third-party service, that provider's data path and terms apply. Local
transcription and third-party reasoning are separate decisions.

How can you decide what to retain?

Question

Keep audio longer when…

Delete sooner when…

Verification

Exact wording or speaker identity may change an outcome

A reviewed note is sufficient for the job

Production

The audio itself will be edited, published, or analyzed

Only decisions and actions are needed

Policy

A defined requirement mandates retention

A minimization policy sets a short purpose-bound period

Risk

Deletion would destroy a necessary source record

Indefinite access would create unnecessary exposure

Operations

Ownership, encryption, access, and deletion are managed

Nobody owns the growing archive

What should a practical retention policy contain?

For work recordings: follow the consent and retention rules that apply to your organization and location. This guide is not legal advice; ask the appropriate legal or security owner about sensitive recordings.

Purpose: why the conversation is captured.

Scope: which meetings qualify and which never should.

Notice and consent: how affected people are informed.

Layers: separate rules for audio, transcript, summary, and export.

Owner: who reviews access, corrections, and deletion.

Period: a specific event or duration, not “until storage fills.”

Exceptions: litigation hold, incident investigation, or regulated records.

Verification: evidence that deletion actually occurred at each relevant layer.

Turn a meeting transcript into a recap your team can act on, with an AI prompt, a copyable minutes template and a clear follow-up example.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

Turn a meeting transcript into useful notes by separating the discussion into a short summary, decisions, action items, and open questions. AI can prepare the first draft; the structure below makes it easier to see what the team agreed and what needs to happen next.

Use this workflow for team meetings, client conversations, project reviews, and interviews. Start with the transcript you already have, or capture the next conversation with an AI voice recorder such as OneMira C1.

What is the difference between a transcript and meeting minutes?

A transcript preserves the spoken conversation. Meeting minutes organize its outcome: the decisions made, the work assigned, and the questions left open. Keep enough context to explain a decision without making everyone reread the entire discussion.

A useful note has a meeting name and date, a brief summary, confirmed decisions, and a task list with owners and due dates. It can be a plain document or a Markdown file; the important part is that someone can use it to continue the work.

How do I turn a meeting transcript into notes?

Choose the relevant conversation. Include the full discussion of each decision, not just the final sentence. Speaker labels and timestamps help you find the source again.

Add the meeting purpose. A line such as “Agree the launch scope and next steps” helps keep the summary focused.

Generate a structured draft. Ask your AI tool for a summary, decisions, actions, and open questions using the prompt below.

Review the commitments. Check names, numbers, dates, and whether a proposal was actually accepted. Leave an unstated owner or deadline open for confirmation.

Share the useful part. Send the recap and next steps to the people who need them, and copy agreed tasks into your existing task tool.

What prompt should I use for AI meeting notes?

Copy this prompt above the transcript in the AI tool you use:

Turn this transcript into meeting notes for the participants. Start with a three-sentence summary. List confirmed decisions separately from proposals. Create an action table with task, owner, due date, and source timestamp or quotation. Use “not specified” for missing details. Finish with open questions and a short follow-up email draft. Use only the supplied conversation.

For recurring meetings, reuse the same headings. That makes it easier to compare the latest commitments with the previous meeting instead of starting a new note format each week.

What should the finished notes look like?

Illustrative example: “We’ll launch the help page first. Maya will send the revised copy by Friday. Luis will check the signup link. Let’s decide on the video after we see the first feedback.”

Summary: The team will launch the help page first and use the initial feedback to decide whether to add a video.

Decision: Launch the help page before deciding on the video.

Action item

Owner

Due date

Send revised help-page copy

Maya

Friday; confirm the calendar date

Check the signup link

Luis

Not specified

Open question: Whether to add a video after reviewing the first feedback. This example is a template illustration, not a customer result.

Can I copy a meeting-minutes template?

Use this outline in your notes app or document:

Meeting: [name]
Date: [date]
Participants: [names]

Summary
[Purpose and main outcome]

Decisions
[What was agreed and why]

Action items
[Task] — [Owner] — [Due date]

Open questions
[What still needs a decision]

Source
[Link to the transcript or local note]

How do I turn the notes into a follow-up email?

Lead with the outcome, then make the next steps easy to scan. For the example above:

Thanks for today’s discussion. We’ll launch the help page first. Maya will send the revised copy by Friday, and Luis will check the signup link. Luis, please confirm the timing. We’ll revisit the video after the first feedback comes in.

Review the draft before sending. Creating an action list does not automatically assign tasks or send messages; use your normal email, calendar, or project tool for those steps.

From the conversation to a first draft with C1

OneMira C1 lets you press once and stay in the conversation. Connected to your Mac or Windows PC, OneMira Desktop transcribes in real time. Its included local AI can turn that context into meeting notes and mind maps after setup and model downloads, with no OneMira account or subscription. Use the structure above to review the decisions and next steps.

Your notes remain editable local Markdown. If you want to check the exact words later, choose to keep the original stereo WAV recording in Settings. For room meetings, follow the in-person AI note-taking guide; for local generation, use the offline meeting notes guide.

Build the habit around the result: capture the conversation, generate the recap, confirm the commitments, and move the work forward. See OneMira C1 pricing and purchase options.

Cheaper AI changes the price of a summary. See what dedicated recording, local notes and a useful follow-up add to the experience.

Originally published on the OneMira Blog. Explore the OneMira C1 AI Voice Recorder — ✨ Local AI · Works Standalone · 🗣️ Speaker ID · Zero Cloud Subscription.

Claude Haiku 5.5 makes generating a summary less expensive. For someone who spends the day in meetings, that raises a useful question: what is still worth paying for when the AI itself costs less?

The answer is the complete experience: capturing the conversation without distraction, getting notes you can trust, and using them to finish the work. A low model price helps. It does not tell you how much time that experience will take.

What changed with Claude Haiku 5.5?

Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5 on October 7, 2026, positioning it for frequent, narrowly scoped tasks such as summaries. For prompts of up to 100,000 tokens, its published API rates are $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens.

At those rates, an illustrative request with 10,000 input tokens and 1,000 output tokens costs $0.0015. That is one text-generation request, not the cost of recording and transcribing a meeting or operating a complete notes service. Longer prompts, additional requests, and other services can change the bill. These are published prices, not a OneMira benchmark.

Why can a meeting-notes app still be worth paying for?

A managed app can take care of recording, transcription, organizing notes, sharing, and support. If it removes work you would otherwise do yourself, that convenience may justify its price. Model costs alone cannot settle that decision.

Start with the part of your day you want to improve. After a client call, you may need a follow-up ready to review. After an interview, you may need a transcript you can check against the recording. After a project meeting, you may need to know what was decided and who owns the next step. Those are different purchases, even when every product advertises an AI summary.

Which workflow fits the way you work?

You want to catch an idea while it is fresh. Compare how easily you can start recording, keep your phone free and return to that thought later.

You want the fewest steps on your phone. Compare the complete mobile experience: capture, transfer, notes, and sharing. Check what remains available on the free plan.

You record frequently and want control over ongoing costs. Compare included minutes, local processing and the optional services you would actually use.

You already work with your own AI tools. Check whether you can take your notes with you and choose another model later. Access to the underlying conversation can matter more than one polished summary.

Free options also differ. Plaud includes 300 transcription minutes per month with its Starter plan. Pocket advertises unlimited minutes and lifetime core features without a required subscription, alongside optional paid features. Read the current plan details for the result you need; “no subscription” by itself does not explain the whole experience.

How can you judge the result before switching?

Use a short conversation you have permission to record and a task you actually need to finish. Compare your current method with the alternative using the same material. Keep a simple record:

What to check

What a useful result looks like

Capture

You can start confidently and stay involved in the conversation.

Key details

Names, numbers, and commitments are correct or clearly marked for review.

Next steps

Decisions are separate from suggestions. Missing owners or dates stay open.

Time to use

Count the minutes needed to get from the recording to a note you would share.

Later access

You can find the decision again and return to the source when needed.

A summary that reads smoothly may still need work. Check the few details that would change what someone does next. Our meeting-notes prompt and template gives you a consistent format for that comparison.

Where does OneMira C1 fit?

C1 is for people who want a dedicated recorder on the desk or in a pocket, with a quiet rotating dial that makes recording visible. One press starts capture, so your phone can stay free and your attention can stay with the conversation.

OneMira Desktop turns the recording into text and includes a local model that can generate notes and mind maps independently. After the software and models are downloaded, that local path works offline on a compatible Mac or Windows computer. Choose in Settings whether to keep the original stereo WAV audio for listening back.

The core local workflow needs no OneMira account or subscription. You can also choose a model service using your own API key, or continue an existing workflow through compatible CLI/MCP tools. Those paths are optional; any provider charges are separate.
