Just Venting...Positively

I have been working on a client's site for almost 3 months now and I can honestly say it is not only my first large scale solo project, it has been the most challenging project I've taken on. At the beginning I felt confident, a week into the project I started to think I bit off more than I could chew, a month into the project and I felt like I knew nothing about web dev. This project has forced me outside of my comfort zone and has made me grow in so many ways. There has been many growing pains but I am grateful for the experience that has come from doing this project. I am so close to launching it right now I can taste it...and I cannot wait to put this in my portfolio! So the key takeaway is, if you don't ever feel a little bit of imposter syndrome, you probably aren't challenging yourself enough. Keep growing and Happy Coding! :)

Updates Thanks to Community Feedback

Thanks to the feedback I've received I have been able to go back and make changes to some of the projects I've built and I've learned quite a bit from the experience. Honestly, I think my biggest mistake so far has been not forming connections sooner and getting real feedback from real people. I have a local design company looking into some of my projects to decide if they want to work with me and to be honest, even if the answer is "no thanks" at the very least I have someone I can come back to and say " This is what I've worked on, here are my accomplishments". What a crazy adventure. And to think, it all starts with 'Hello World!'.

Happy Coding. Happy Trails.

First Release of 2023

Here is my first challenge of 2023. It is a simple design challenge but I used it to focus on using semantics to make the page more accessible as well as focusing on not repeating style rules to make my code easy to read.

Leave some feedback here or on my frontend mentor profile.

Another Humbling Challenge

I completed a second challenge today on Frontend Mentor but it didn't go as planned. I was completely lost when it came to implementing some JS to make it function properly. I did a lot of research and eventually found a solution to the exact challenge on CodePen.io. I recycled the code and through that sort of retro-engineering process I was able to learn a lot about concepts I didn't even know existed. I was comfortable with the HTML and CSS but I didn't even know where to begin with the JS. I spent time experimenting within the source code to check for understanding and it was a great experience...but I have my work cut out for me. Thank you to anyone that shares their source codes on CodePen, you are true MVPs.

Finally Done With Challenge 1

I finished that challenge project I mentioned previously and it was harder than expected. I didn't have a lot of time to complete it so it is formatted for most mobile screens and most desktop views. Used 1440px and 375px for the styles. Check out the design at https://better-dev-three.vercel.app/ to see it live. Repo at https://github.com/OpenWorldProjectOWP/BetterDev if you want to provide feedback. I have a lot to learn so I appreciate any feedback you take time to give me :).

Expectations V Reality

For such a simple design, I am having a hard time getting this formatted properly when coding the actual landing page. I had to restart because I felt like I was crowding the code with divs and writing WAY too much CSS. I went with flex to avoid over complicating the code and it was not working as expected. Any advice on getting the elements to line up nicely?
