From “I can see it” to “I can search it” - childrenOf & parentOf in JQL

From “I can see it” to “I can search it”: that’s the step Argon adds to your mission control.
One Epic (MARS-1 Mars Mission), three Stories, six Tasks. In Jira you can see who belongs to whom, but only one issue at a time. Native JQL can’t ask “show me everything under this Epic” or “which Stories own my blocked tasks?”

Argon adds two functions that do exactly that:
🔽 childrenOf: walk down the tree
🔼 parentOf: walk back up

Main advantages:
▪️ Any JQL as input: pass in a sprint, assignee, component or status, not just a fixed issue key,
▪️ Always up to date: results follow your hierarchy as it changes, no exports,
▪️ Works in both directions: top-down for planning, bottom-up for risk,
▪️ Combine with other filters: add AND, OR and not in like any other JQL,
▪️ Finds gaps: issuetype = Sub-task AND issue not in childrenOf("issuetype = Story") shows orphan Sub-tasks,
▪️ Everywhere JQL works: filters, boards and dashboards, with data staying inside Atlassian.

You can try JQL Argon trial on the Atlassian Marketplace -> JQL Argon

Enjoy!
Spectra - dashboards and metrics on GovCloud

Hello Community!

Public sector teams run some of the biggest Jira instances there are. Until recently they had a hard choice: stay in a compliant environment with very few Marketplace apps, or go without the reporting their programmes need.
Spectra is the first Orbiscend app on Atlassian Government Cloud, which is FedRAMP Moderate authorised.

Who it’s for:

US federal, state and local government agencies running Jira on Atlassian Government Cloud,

Government contractors and vendors who manage public programmes in Jira,

Public research institutions and universities that deliver government-funded projects in that environment.

Why it matters:
Compliance teams approve apps slowly, and they should. Any app that copies Jira data to outside servers adds a vendor to review and widens the boundary they have to protect. Spectra runs entirely on Atlassian’s platform. There are no external servers and your data doesn’t leave Atlassian, so the security story stays simple.

What teams get:

Dashboards you can explore: click any chart and every other widget filters with it,

Metrics Jira doesn’t have out of the box, such as cycle time, time in status and WIP age,

Pivot tables, calculated fields and control charts, with no query language needed,

The same Spectra you’d use in commercial cloud, with nothing cut down.

If your team works in Atlassian Government Cloud, Spectra is ready to install.
Try it on the Atlassian Marketplace -> Spectra

Enjoy!
