series: [“Ordinary Geeks Covid Tracker 6”]

Seriously, Like 2 hours later and I finally finish getting MYSQL integrated into my ASP.Net workflow. I didnt do all the previous steps when I created my new user and ran into some trouble. Ok. Now I just got to call the apis, update my android app, and write some DB logic. Let's go.

Side note, always save your old seed info before doing another EF migration. Don't feel like replicating that code =(.

MYSQL up! Waiting on DNS Propagation.

series: [“Ordinary Geeks Covid Tracker 5”]

Well, I spent one hour deciding I would shortcut my coding and instead of following instructions, do what I thought was best. Anyway, it didn't work. My cousin told me the deadline was today ( yesterday I said it was tomorrow morning). So, at least I am using Digital Ocean for the database. Now I can move on other aspects of the code. I think I'll stick with the website I already have and use the Digital Ocean database (most the work is on the database anyway) for now. That way if I can't submit to my new digital ocean hosting, I won't be mad.

So i went to sleep and woke up, hoping my domain name would have propagated. It did not. I am not going to worry about that. I am going to use Digital Ocean for the mysql database, and hopefully that will be enough for now.

Wow, 3 hours to do that?

series: [“Ordinary Geeks Covid Tracker 3”]

Holy Canoly Batman, that was hard. Had to work through some logic and thinking errors to properly get connected to my old database with ASP.NET Core. It was easy, but we all know how it is. Sometimes you dont see it. So now lets get our code up and running. I am migrating the models, redoing the database, and going through tuts. I will build it on my old website, and, if I am lucky enough to have my DNS propagate this area, I will move on to putting it on Digital Ocean.

Push until you can't push anymore

series: [“Ordinary Geeks Covid Tracker 2”]

The code is pretty much done in Asp.Net Framework. I need to change it to asp.net Core.
Had given up. 1) I saw that Apple and Google already provide Covid trackers. I woke up this morning feeling disheartened. I went to my cousin's funeral. Where my other cousin, JC Smiley, who is also in the hackathon, asked me why I was quitting. Later on, at his house, he helped motivate me to go hard this weekend. (I had already decided to finish my idea). So last night I couldn't get my domain from winhost moved over to here easily, but I realized that I could just buy a new domain name. So I did =). Now I am in the game.

Found a tutorial but the registration may take 48 hours. I am very sad that I waited this long to try to push it to Digital Ocean. Oh well. You live and you learn.

New Beginnings Old Code

series: [“Ordinary Geeks Covid Tracker”]

I have the general framework for my idea for this covid tracker program built out in my head. I am worried about getting my android/ios builds done in time and published. Not sure how to let the judges see that part. First though, I have to find documentation for how to start a web api server using Digital Ocean.

I have the weekend. The Hackathon has officially begun!
