This study demonstrates that cell adhesion molecule transmembrane and immunoglobulin domain containing 1 (TMIGD1) are highly expressed in mouse and human normal intestinal epithelial cells. TMIGD1 knockout mice were developed, and the loss of TMIGD1 in mice was shown to result in the development of adenomas in small intestine and colon. In addition, the loss of TMIGD1 significantly impaired intestinal epithelium brush border membrane, junctional polarity, and maturation. Mechanistically, TMIGD1 inhibits tumor cell proliferation and cell migration, arrests cell cycle at the G2/M phase, and induces expression of p21CIP1 (cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1), and p27KIP1 (cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B) expression, key cell cycle inhibitor proteins involved in the regulation of the cell cycle. Moreover, TMIGD1 is shown to be progressively down-regulated in sporadic human CRC, and its downregulation correlates with poor overall survival. The findings herein identify TMIGD1 as a novel tumor suppressor gene and provide new insights into the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer and a novel potential therapeutic target. &lt;br&gt;
 Various types of contaminants can be encountered in cytologic specimens. This study describes a vegetable material that we encountered in ileal conduit urine specimens. We aim to describe the cytomorphology and the source of origin of this vegetable material. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The cytology database for the past 5 years (January 2015-April 2020) was searched for ileal conduit urine cytology specimens with a reported vegetable contaminant. The details of the ostomy procedure and device used were recorded. Histologic sections were prepared from the ostomy devices as well as from guar beans and seeds. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A total of 17 urinary specimens from 8 patients were identified that showed the presence of a vegetable contaminant. All the patients were using Coloplast (Minneapolis, MN) SenSura Mio ostomy device. The urine cytology showed presence of polygonal thick-walled cells with a dark brown/orange core with irregular outlines. Similar cells were also seen in the histologic sections prepared from the ostomy adhesive and the guar seed and bean. &lt;/p&gt;

 Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is an infiltrative disease characterised by accumulation of amyloid deposits in the extracellular space of the myocardium-comprising transthyretin (ATTR) and light chain (AL) amyloidosis as the most frequent subtypes. Histopathological proof of amyloid deposits by endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) is the gold standard for diagnosis of CA. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) allows non-invasive workup of suspected CA. We conducted a multi-centre study to assess the diagnostic value of CMR in comparison to EMB for the diagnosis of CA. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We studied N = 160 patients characterised by symptoms of heart failure and presence of left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy of unknown origin who presented to specialised cardiomyopathy centres in Germany and underwent further diagnostic workup by both CMR and EMB. If CA was diagnosed, additional subtyping based on EMB specimens and monoclonal protein studies in serum was performed. The CMR protocol comprised cine- and late-gadolinium-enhancement (LGE)-imagcomplications was 3.13% in this study-without any detrimental or persistent complications. &lt;/p&gt;

All data were expressed as the combination of HR and 95% CI, and P &amp;lt; 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A total of n = 8 publications for a total of n = 12 randomized studies were aggregated in the quantitative analysis. Overall, the pooled analysis showed a borderline significant OS benefit for ICIs compared to no ICIs arms (HR = 0.84, 95% CI 0.7-1; P = 0.05) in particular in first-line trials with HR = 0.77 (95%CI 0.61-0.96; P = 0.02). &lt;/p&gt;

Gastrointestinal mucormycosis is the least frequent type and may be a primary disease or a feature of generalized mucormycosis. Angioinvasion is the hallmark feature of mucormycosis, leading to bowel infarction which is the responsible for the most common clinical complaint of pain, and is also responsible for most of the imaging findings in this disease. The stomach is most commonly involved organ in the gastrointestinal tract and pneumatosis and lack of gastric wall enhancement are the most common imaging findings. Areas of bowel wall thickening and/ or lack of enhancement are seen in small bowel mucor and perforation can occur due to ischemia. Colonic mucor can present with mural thickening, or complete lack of definition or 'disappearance' of bowel wall with associated air containing collections. Mucormycosis affecting the bowel has a high mortality rate and early recognition and intervention may improve patient outcomes significantly.       <description>&lt;p&gt;Tubastraea coccinea is an azooxanthellate coral species recorded in the Indian and Atlantic oceans and is presently widespread in the southwestern Atlantic with an alien status for Brazil. T. coccinea outcompete other native coral species by using a varied repertoire of biological traits. For example, T. coccinea has evolved potent venom capable of immobilizing and digesting zooplankton prey. Diversification and modification of venom toxins can provide potential adaptive benefits to individual fitness, yet acquired alteration of venom composition in cnidarians is poorly understood as the adaptive flexibility affecting toxin composition in these ancient lineages has been largely ignored. We used quantitative high-throughput proteomics to detect changes in toxin expression in clonal fragments of specimens collected and interchanged from two environmentally distinct and geographically separate study sites. Unexpectedly, despite global changes in protein expression, there were no changes in the composition and abundance of toxins from coral fragments recovered from either site, and following clonal transplantation between sites. There were also no apparent changes to the cnidome (cnidae) and gross skeletal or soft tissue morphologies of the specimens. These results suggest that the conserved toxin complexity of T. coccinea co-evolved with innovation of the venom delivery system, and its morphological development and phenotypic expression are not modulated by habitat pressures over short periods of time. The adaptive response of the venom trait to specific predatory regimes, however, necessitates further consideration. © 2019 The Authors. Specific adaptations can lead to their restriction when potential partners from distant evolutionary trajectories come into contact. Alternatively, these interactions can be enabled by convergent evolution and subsequent ecological fitting.We studied the interactions between New World plants from the genus Heliconia, Asian plants of genus Etlingera and African sunbirds on a local farm in Cameroon. Heliconia spp. evolved together with hummingbirds and Etlingera spp. with spiderhunters -an oriental subgroup of the sunbird family.Sunbirds fed on all studied plants and individual plant species were visited by a different sunbird spectrum. We experimentally documented a higher number of germinated pollen grains in sunbird-visited flowers of Etlingera spp. For Heliconia spp., this experiment was not successful and pollen tubes were rarely observed, even in hand-pollinated flowers, where enough pollen was deposited. The analyses of contacts with plant reproductive organs nevertheless confirmed that sunbirds are good pollen vectors for both Heliconia and Etlingera species.Our study demonstrated a high ecological fit between actors of distinct evolutionary history and the general validity of bird-pollination syndrome. We moreover show that trait matching and niche differentiation are important ecological processes also in semi-artificial plant-pollinator systems. © 2019 The Authors. In salmonid fishes, lakes have been shown to have a strong influence on dispersal and gene flow within catchments; for example, populations spawning in inflow streams are often reproductively isolated and genetically distinct from those spawning in relatively distant outflow streams. Less is known, however, regarding the level of philopatry and genetic differentiation occurring at microgeographic scales, for example, where inflow and outflow streams are separated by very small expanses of lake habitat. Here, we investigated the interplay between genetic differentiation and fine-scale spawning movements of brown trout between their lake-feeding habitat and two spawning streams (one inflow, one outflow, separated by less then 100 m of lake habitat). Most (69.2%) of the lake-tagged trout subsequently detected during the spawning periode subtle, but nonetheless biologically relevant, population structuring at microgeographic scales. © 2019 The Authors. The tawny owl (Strix aluco) is a color polymorphic species with a gray and brown morph resident in the Western Palearctic. A strong selection pressure against the brown morph during snowy and cold winters has been documented earlier, but the selection mechanisms remain unresolved. Here, we hypothesize that selection favors the gray morph because it is better camouflaged against predators and mobbers in snowy conditions compared to the brown one. We conducted an online citizen science experiment where volunteers were asked to locate a gray or a brown tawny owl specimen from pictures taken in snowy and snowless landscapes. Our results show that the gray morph in snowy landscapes is the hardest to detect whereas the brown morph in snowy landscapes is the easiest to detect. With an avian vision model, we show that, similar to human perceivers, the brown morph is more conspicuous than the gray against coniferous tree trunks for a mobbing passerine. We suggest that with better camouflage, the gray morph may avoid mobbers and predators more efficiently than the brown morph and thus survive better in snowy environments. As winters are getting milder and shorter in the species range, the selection periods against brown coloration may eventually disappear or shift poleward. © 2019 The Authors. This allows the linear and fal-function based nonlinear control actions to be naturally integrated and the controller parameters can be tuned easily with the proposed space-time scaling method. The control law is constructed and validated in multi-axis motion synchronization of parallel mechanisms. The results show that the proposed scheme is effective and practical, with the robustness associated with the bandwidth constraints.In this paper, to reduce the computational and communication burden, the event-triggered distributed zero-sum differential game problem for multi-agent systems is investigated. Firstly, based on the Minimax principle, an adaptive event-triggered distributed iterative differential game strategy is derived with an adaptive triggering condition for updating the control scheme aperiodically. In this study, the therapeutic effect of SIF was evaluated in a diabetic Goto-Kakizaki (GK) rat model. Twenty male GK rats were randomly divided into diabetes mellitus (DM) model group and SIF+DM group (n=10 in each group). Twenty age-matched male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group (CON group) and CON+SIF group, with 10 rats in each group. The learning and memory functions of the animals were determined by the Morris water maze (MWM) test. Hematoxylin-eosin staining (HE) was performed to examine pyramidal neuron loss in the CA1 area of the hippocampus. Markers of oxidative stress (OS) were measured to evaluate oxidative stress-mediated injury. RT-PCR and western blotting were used to analyze the expression of nuclear factorerythroid2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and NAD(P)H dehydrogenase quinone1 (NQO1). Treatment with SIF for 4 weeks alleviated the cognitive dysfunction of the GK rats as determined by the MWM test. Moreover, SIF treatment also reduced diabetes-related oxidative reactions.       <description>&lt;p&gt;Oncolytic viruses have been extensively used in cancer treatment due to their tropism, selective replication only in tumor cells, and possible synergic interaction with other therapeutics. Different researchers have demonstrated that bovine herpesvirus 4 (BoHV-4), a member of the gammaherpesviridae family, has oncolytic potential in some human-origin cancer cell lines like glioma through the selective replication strategy. Using four apoptosis detection methods, namely MTT, LDH, TUNEL, and Annexin V assays, we evaluated the apoptotic effect of BoHV-4 Movar33/63 reference strain along with a recombinant BoHV-4 expressing EGFP in U87 MG cells (human glioblastoma cell line), MDA MB-231 (human breast cancer cell line), and MCF10a (non-tumorigenic human mammary epithelial cell line). Our findings indicate that this virus can replicate and induce apoptosis in these cell lines and hinder in vitro proliferation in a dose-dependent manner. In conclusion, BoHV-4 has in vitro potential as a novel oncolytic virus in human cancer therapy. However, its replication potential in the MCF10a cells as a non-tumorigenic human mammary epithelial cell line is a concern in using this virus in cancer therapy, at least against human mammary tumors. Further studies must therefore be conducted to examine the specific apoptotic pathways induced by this virus to move on to further experiments. &lt;br&gt;
 Depending on a transplant center's level of experience, utilization of pure laparoscopic donor right hepatectomy (PLDRH) may be limited due to graft size or anatomical variations. Here, we aimed to evaluate the influence of large hepatic grafts (≥ 1000 g) when performing PLDRH in both donors and recipients of such grafts. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Medical records of living donors who underwent either PLDRH from November 2015 to August 2019 or open conventional donor right hepatectomy (CDRH) from January 2010 to August 2019 and those of the graft recipients were retrospectively reviewed. Donors were separated into three groups PLDRH graft ≥ 1000 g (n = 10; study group), PLDRH graft &amp;lt; 1000 g (n = 280; control-I group), and CDRH graft ≥ 1000 g (n = 24; control-II group). &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Total operative duration (P = 0.017) and warm ischemia time (P &amp;lt; 0.001) were significantly longer in the study than in the control-I and control-II groups, respectively. Micro-computed tomography was used to calculate two-dimensional marginal-internal gap and the three-dimensional volumetric gap between the crowns and their corresponding dies. The measured gaps were divided into 6 location categories as follows marginal gap (MG), finish line gap (FLG), axial wall gap (AWG), cuspal gap (CG), proximal transition gap (PTG), and central fossa gap (CFG). The correlation between each of the 3 extraoral digitizing methods and the adaptation status of the crown margins were also evaluated. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Spearman's rank test, and Chi-square test were used for data analysis (α = 0.05). The marginal gaps in the ST, SI, and SC groups differed significantly (24, 198 and 117.6 µm, respectively) (p  0.05).
