One of the most controversial areas of nutrition research relates to fats, particularly essential fatty acids, in the context of cardiovascular disease risk. A critical feature of dietary fatty acids is that they incorporate into the plasma membrane, modifying fluidity and key physiological functions. Importantly, they can reshape the bioavailability of eicosanoids and other lipid mediators, which direct cellular responses to external stimuli, such as inflammation and chronic stress conditions. This paper provides an overview of the most recent evidence, as well as historical controversies, linking fat consumption with human health and disease. We underscore current pitfalls in the area of fatty acid research and critically frame fatty acid intake in the larger context of diet and behavior. We conclude that fundamental research on fatty acids and lipids is appropriate in certain areas, but the rigor and reproducibility are lacking in others. The pros and cons are highlighted throughout the review, seeking to guide future research on the important area of nutrition, fat intake, and cardiovascular disease risk. The Brahmaputra River is the largest tropical river in India that flows along the Himalayan regions and it is the lifeline of millions of people. Metal fractionation in the Brahmaputra River's surface sediments and its correlation with turbidity are assessed in this study. The interaction between metal fractions and the overlying water is studied using multivariate statistical analyses. The strong positive correlation between NH4 of the overlying water and the exchangeable fractions in sediments signifies that the metals in the exchangeable fractions can be substituted by NH4. Estrone cell line Subsequently, these metals can be released into the overlying water. The fluctuation in turbidity from 73 to 875 NTU indicates a large variation in the suspended matter concentration, and a higher concentration of suspended matter could provide attachment sites for pollutants such as metals. Significant variation in turbidity manifests a potentially high risk of pollution. In addition, the observation of local people along the Brahmaputra River turning its color to muddy indicates the need for continuous monitoring of water quality and an assessment of pollution is crucial. Although the Brahmaputra River's risk assessment code is at low risk, the exchangeable fractions of Ni and Zn are present at all sites. Thus, the Brahmaputra River requires early preventive measures and management strategies to control metal pollution. This study contributes to an understanding of the fluctuation of turbidity of a tropical river. We provide baseline data for policymakers, and the importance of further intensive studies on metal pollution in the Himalayan Rivers is highlighted. This report presents the synthesis and folate receptor target-specificity of amino-functionalized polyacrylamide nanoparticles (AFPAA NPs) for near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging of cancer. For the synthesis of desired nano-constructs, the AFPAA NPs (hereafter referred to as NPs) were reacted with a NIR cyanine dye (CD) bearing carboxylic acid functionality by following our previously reported approach, and the resulting conjugate (NP-CD) on further reaction with folic acid (FA) resulted in a new nano-construct, FA-NP-CD, which demonstrated significantly higher uptake in folate receptor-positive breast cancer cells (KB+) and in folate receptor over-expressed tumors in vivo. The target-specificity of these nanoparticles was further confirmed by inhibition assay in folate receptor-positive (KB+) and -negative (HT-1080) cell lines. To show the advantages of polyacrylamide (PAA)-based NPs in folate receptor target-specificity, the CD used in preparing the FA-NP-CD construct was also reacted with folic acid alone and the synthetic conjugate (CD-FA) was also investigated for its target-specificity. Interestingly, in contrast to NPs (FA-NP-CD), the CD-FA conjugate did not show any significant in vitro or in vivo specificity toward folate receptors, showing the advantages of PAA-based nanotechnology in delivering the desired agent to tumor cells.Soluble suppression of tumorigenesis-2 (sST2) has been introduced as a marker associated with heart failure (HF) pathophysiology and status. Endothelial dysfunction is a component underlying HF pathophysiology. Therefore, we examined the association of arterial wall properties with sST2 levels in patients with HF of ischemic etiology. We enrolled 143 patients with stable HF of ischemic etiology and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and 77 control subjects. Flow-mediated dilation (FMD) was used to evaluate endothelial function and pulse wave velocity (PWV) to assess arterial stiffness. Although there was no significant difference in baseline demographic characteristics, levels of sST2 were increased in HF compared to the control (15.8 (11.0, 21.8) ng/mL vs. 12.5 (10.4, 16.3) ng/mL; p less then 0.001). In the HF group, there was a positive correlation of sST2 levels with age (rho = 0.22; p = 0.007) while there was no association of LVEF with sST2 (rho = -0.119; p = 0.17) nor with PWV (rho = 0.1; p = 0.23). Interestingly, sST2 was increased in NYHA III [20.0 (12.3, 25.7) ng/mL] compared to patients with NYHA II (15.0 (10.4, 18.2) ng/mL; p = 0.003) and inversely associated with FMD (rho = -0.44; p less then 0.001) even after adjustment for possible confounders. In patients with chronic HF of ischemic etiology, sST2 levels are increased and are associated with functional capacity. There is an inverse association between FMD and sST2 levels, highlighting the interplay between the dysfunctional endothelium and HF pathophysiologic mechanisms.Accumulating epidemiological evidence suggests that anthocyanin intake is associated with reduced risks of cardiometabolic disorders, highlighting the importance of incorporating the phytochemical in our diets. Numerous food-based intervention studies have examined, in controlled meal settings, the role of anthocyanin on cardiometabolic health; but their effects have not been systematically summarized. This study aims to systematically review and summarize the effects of anthocyanin consumption with composite meals on cardiometabolic health from randomized controlled feeding trials. A systematic literature search for relevant human nutritional intervention studies was performed using PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL Plus with Full Text, and Scopus databases. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to assess the study quality. Eighteen articles involving 371 participants were included in this review. Consistent improvements from anthocyanin intake were found in glycemic, gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) responses.Estrone cell line

Life-saving interventions utilize endotracheal intubation to secure a patient's airway, but performance of the clinical standard of care endotracheal tube (ETT) is inadequate. see more For instance, in the current COVID-19 crisis, patients can expect prolonged intubation. This protracted intubation may produce health complications such as tracheal stenosis, pneumonia, and necrosis of tracheal tissue, as current ETTs are not designed for extended use. In this work, we propose an improved ETT design that seeks to overcome these limitations by utilizing unique geometries which enable a novel expanding cylinder. The mechanism provides a better distribution of the contact forces between the ETT and the trachea, which should enhance patient tolerability. Results show that at full expansion, our new ETT exerts pressures in a silicone tracheal phantom well within the recommended standard of care. Also, preliminary manikin tests demonstrated that the new ETT can deliver similar performance in terms of air pressure and air volume when compared with the current gold standard ETT. The potential benefits of this new architected ETT are threefold, by limiting exposure of healthcare providers to patient pathogens through streamlining the intubation process, reducing downstream complications, and eliminating the need of multiple size ETT as one architected ETT fits all.Asthma is highly comorbid with anxiety in youth. We investigated the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and microglia as mechanisms underlying asthma and anxiety comorbidity. We induced asthma symptoms in developing BALB/cJ mice with house dust mite (HDM) for airway inflammation and methacholine (MCH) for bronchoconstriction. On the last day of exposure, we analyzed samples at six timepoints. Lung IL-5 and IL-1β expression peaked 4 h after final HDM exposure. Circulating corticosterone was blunted in a sex- and treatment-specific temporal pattern. Hippocampal IL-1β expression and microglial area were marginally increased 24 h after MCH exposure. These results provide a foundation for further work investigating asthma-anxiety mechanisms.Driver sleepiness is a major contributor to road crashes. A system that monitors and warns the driver at a certain, critical level of arousal, could aid in reducing sleep-related crashes. To determine how driver sleepiness detection systems perform, a systematic review of the sensitivity and specificity outcomes was performed. In total, 21 studies were located that met inclusion criteria for the review. The range of sensitivity outcomes was between 39.0-98.8 % and between 73.0-98.9 % for specificity outcomes. There was considerable variation in the outcomes of the studies employing only one physiological measure (mono-signal approach), whereas, a poly-signal approach with multiple physiological signals resulted in more consistency with higher outcomes on both sensitivity and specificity metrics. Only six of the 21 studies had both sensitivity and specificity outcomes above 90.0 %, which included mono- and poly-signal approaches. Moreover, increases in the number of features used in the sleepiness detection system did not result in higher sensitivity and specificity outcomes. Overall, there was considerable variability between the studies reviewed, including measures of ground truth, the features employed and the machine learning approach of the systems. A critical need for progressing any system is a revalidation of the system on a new sample of users. These aspects indicate considerable progress is needed with physiological-based driver sleepiness systems before they are at a sufficient standard to be deployed on-road.Road safety remains a challenge with numerous Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) suffering from injuries and death every year. Pedestrian protection using active safety systems, such as Automated Emergency Braking (AEB), is an effective measure to combat the situation. Furthermore, the perception of precrash scenarios plays an important role in active safety research. It is essential to understand and define precrash scenarios. This study aimed to apply the obtained typical car-to-pedestrian precrash scenarios from Chinese severely injured pedestrian traffic accidents to develop and test active safety systems. The National Automobile Accident In-Depth Investigation System (NAIS) recorded 467 cases from 2011 to 2018 in China, and 12 items were selected from the NAIS database as description variables for the precrash scenario. The items were divided into four categories car, pedestrian, road, and environment. Group decision theory was applied to evaluate the importance of each variable in its category. A total of 34 enarios of pedestrian AEB or Forward Collision Warning (FCW) in China.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a seat-integrated mobilization system for maintaining vigilance under monotonous driving situations.

For this purpose, vigilance indicators were compared intra-individually in a test condition with mobilization (seat-integrated stimulation) and a placebo condition under standardized conditions in a real driving study (N = 31). During a monotonous two-hour ride, physiological (brain activity by the EEG alpha spindle rate), performance-based (reaction times) and subjective indicators were recorded.

The necessary precondition for the paradigm of inducing fatigue through monotony was confirmed by a significant increase in the EEG alpha spindle rate and the subjective vigilance indices. The mobilization system had a significant impact on the most fatigue-sensitive parameter of the alpha spindle rate, whereas the other parameters of vigilance did not reflect a significant effect of mobilization.

The Mobilization Seat is an effective measure to prevent drivers' fatigue during monotonous situations.
The Mobilization Seat is an effective measure to prevent drivers' fatigue during monotonous situations.Estimating the speed-crash relationship has long been a focus area of interest in roadway safety analysis. Because of many confounding factors that may influence both speeds and crashes, the relationship cannot be appropriately established without considering the corresponding roadway contexts and accounting for their effects on speeds and crashes. This paper investigates the speed-crash relationship for city streets by jointly modeling speed, roadway characteristics, and crashes using a path analysis approach that has been recently introduced into safety analysis while incorporating a wide range of roadway and traffic related variables and additional speed measures. The results from the coherent path analysis identified multiple speed measures of interest that have a statistically significant association with crashes as well as having intuitive and useful interpretation. The results also supported a positive relationship between speed variability and crash occurrence (i.e., larger spread/variability in operational speed is associated with more crashes).see more

Then, the surgical procedure is simulated and a finite element analysis of the endarterectomized and patched carotid artery is employed. see more Stress fields are calculated, while deformation at the site of patch angioplasty indicates a potential cause for the formation of aneurismal degeneration after the surgery. Such analysis can provide a better understanding in the establishment of follow-up protocols.Centrosomes are the major microtubule organizing center of animal cells. Centrosomes contribute to timely bipolar spindle assembly during mitosis and participate in the regulation of other processes such as polarity establishment and cell migration. Centrosome numbers are tightly controlled during the cell cycle to ensure that mitosis is initiated with only two centrosomes. Deviations in centrosome number or structure are known to impact cell or tissue homeostasis and can impact different processes as diverse as proliferation, death or disease. Interestingly, defects in centrosome number seem to culminate with common responses, which depend on p53 activation even in different contexts such as development or cancer. p53 is a tumor suppressor gene with essential roles in the maintenance of genetic stability normally stimulated by various cellular stresses. Here, we review current knowledge and discuss how defects in centrosome structure and number can lead to different human pathologies.
The rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has been accompanied by the emergence of distinct viral clades, though their clinical significance remains unclear. Here, we aimed to investigate the phylogenetic characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 infections in Chicago, Illinois, and assess their relationship to clinical parameters.

We performed whole-genome sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 isolates collected from COVID-19 patients in Chicago in mid-March, 2020. Using these and other publicly available sequences, we performed phylogenetic, phylogeographic, and phylodynamic analyses. Patient data was assessed for correlations between demographic or clinical characteristics and virologic features.

The 88 SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences in our study separated into three distinct phylogenetic clades. Clades 1 and 3 were most closely related to viral sequences from New York and Washington state, respectively, with relatively broad distributions across the US. Clade 2 was primarily foious Diseases (NIAID), Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, Northwestern University Emerging and Re-emerging Pathogens Program.
Diagnosis of rib fractures plays an important role in identifying trauma severity. However, quickly and precisely identifying the rib fractures in a large number of CT images with increasing number of patients is a tough task, which is also subject to the qualification of radiologist. We aim at a clinically applicable automatic system for rib fracture detection and segmentation from CT scans.

A total of 7,473 annotated traumatic rib fractures from 900 patients in a single center were enrolled into our dataset, named RibFrac Dataset, which were annotated with a human-in-the-loop labeling procedure. We developed a deep learning model, named FracNet, to detect and segment rib fractures. 720, 60 and 120 patients were randomly split as training cohort, tuning cohort and test cohort, respectively. Free-Response ROC (FROC) analysis was used to evaluate the sensitivity and false positives of the detection performance, and Intersection-over-Union (IoU) and Dice Coefficient (Dice) were used to evaluate the segmentaeased clinical time consumed, which established a clinically applicable method to assist the radiologist in clinical practice.

Osteoporosis is a common metabolic bone disease, which always leads to osteoporotic fractures. Biomarkers of bone mineral density (BMD) are helpful for prevention and early diagnosis of osteoporosis. This study aims to identify metabolomic biomarkers of low BMD.

We included 701 participants who had BMD measures by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scans and donated fasting plasma samples from three clinical centres as a discovery set and another 278 participants from the fourth centre as an independent replication set. We used a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-based metabolomics approach to profile the global metabolites of fasting plasma.

Among the 265 named metabolites identified in our study, six were associated with low BMD (FDR-adjusted P<0.05) in the discovery set and were successfully validated in the independent replication set. The circulating levels of five metabolites, i.e., inosine, hypoxanthine, PC (O-180/226), SM (d181/210) and isoleucyl-proline were associated with decreased oddty, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China [General Program, 81972089 to Z.X.]. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer death worldwide, with unmet need for the pharmacological therapy. The functions of ATXN7L3 in HCC progression are not known.

RNA sequence, quantitative real-time PCR, and western blot were performed to detect gene expression. Chromatin immunoprecipitation was performed to detect possible mechanisms. Immunohistochemical stain was performed to examine the protein expression. Colony formation, cell growth curve and xenograft tumor experiments were performed to examine cell growth in vitro and in vivo.

ATXN7L3 functions as a coactivator for ERα-mediated transactivation in HCC cells, thereby contributing to enhanced SMAD7 transcription. ATXN7L3 is recruited to the promoter regions of SMAD7 gene, thereby regulating histone H2B ubiquitination level, to enhance the transcription of SMAD7. A series of genes regulated by ATXN7L3 were identified. Moreover, ATXN7L3 participates in suppression of tumor growth. In addition, ATXN7L3 is lower expressed in HCC samples, and the lower expression of ATXN7L3 positively correlates with poor clinical outcome in patients with HCC.see more

8 mg/L (44.67 ± 4.16 s; 60 ± 5%) of CdCl2 and to 65.67 ± 3.30 s; 70 ± 5%, respectively, in concentrations of 0.8 mg/L of CuCl2. We observed an increase in the activity of the SOD enzyme in sperm cells exposed to 1.2 mg/L of CdCl2. The LPO levels were increased significantly in sperm cells exposed to 1.2 and 1.8 mg/L of CdCl2 and 0.8 mg/L of CuCl2. Fertilization and hatching were severely impaired in the presence of Cd and Cu. These data indicate that environments contaminated with cadmium and copper harm the gametes of C. macropomum.Gas/particle partitioning governs the transport and fate of semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) released to the atmosphere. The partition quotient of SVOCs, KP, is related to their subcooled liquid vapor pressure (logKP = mp logPL + bp) and to their octanol-air partition coefficient (logKP = mo logKOA + bo). Previous theory predicts that -mp and mo should be close to, or equal to 1 based on the assumption that gas- and particle-phases are at equilibrium in the atmosphere. Here, we develop analytical equations to calculate mo and bo as functions of logKOA and mp and bp as functions of logPL. We find that experimental, analytical, or statistical artifacts and other reported factors are not the leading causes for deviations of the slopes, mp and mo, from -1 and 1, respectively. Rather, it is the inherent parameter, KOA, that determines mo and bo, and equivalently, PL is the major parameter determining mp and bp, and such deviations are evidence that equilibrium is an inappropriate assumption. In contrast, the actual steady-state between gas and particle phases of SVOCs leads that their -mp and mo should range from 0 to 1, implying that equilibrium is a reasonable assumption only when -mp and mo are larger than 0.49. To illustrate these points, we provide a detailed discussion of the global atmospheric transport of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) with emphasis on Polar Regions where low air temperatures favor a special steady-state, where their slopes mp and mo can reach 0, indicating a constant value of logKP (-1.53).Partition coefficients are important parameters for measuring the concentration of chemicals by passive sampling devices. Considering the wide application of the polyurethane foam (PUF) in passive air sampling, an attempt for developing several quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) models was made in this work, to predict PUF-air partition coefficients (KPUF-air) using linear (multiple linear regression, MLR) and non-linear (artificial neural network, ANN and support vector machine, SVM) methods by machine learning. All of the developed models were performed on a dataset of 170 compounds comprising 9 distinct classes. A series of statistical parameters and validation results showed that models had good prediction ability, robustness and goodness-of-fit. Furthermore, the underlying mechanisms of molecular descriptors emphasized that ionization potential, molecular bond, hydrophilicity, size of molecule and valence electron number had dominating influence on the adsorption process of chemicals. Overall, the obtained models were all established on the extensive applicability domains, and thus can be used as effective tools to predict the KPUF-air of new organic compounds or those have not been synthesized yet which, in turn, could help researchers better understand the mechanistic basis of adsorption behavior of PUF.Elevated atmospheric O3 can inhibit the growth rate of various plants and increase metal content in their tissues owing to the oxidative damage, thereby affecting their phytoremediation efficiency. In this study, a series of O3 fumigation treatments were designed to evaluate the dry weight, Cd content, and transpiration rate responses of Celosia argentea to different levels of O3 (40, 50, 55, 60, 65, and 80 ppb). The dry weight of C. argentea decreased as the atmospheric O3 level increased, and the Cd concentration of the plant leaves increased until the level of O3 reached 60 ppb before decreasing slightly. The variations in the transpiration rate followed a similar trend to the Cd content under different O3 levels. The phytoremediation efficiency of C. argentea increased with O3 fumigation at low (50 ppb) and moderate (55 and 60 ppb) levels, and significantly decreased at the highest level. The regression curves indicated that the plant species treated with 52 ppb of O3 exhibited the highest Cd accumulation capacity. this website Overall, the phytoremediation effect of C. argentea cultivated in Cd-polluted soil might be improved under the high-O3 conditions. This result might help to choose suitable plants for soil remediation in future atmospheric environment. Here we compared the efficiency of Cu extraction (dissolved + particulate) from two soils dosed with CuO nanoparticles (NPs) at 50 or 250 mg kg-1 by pore water collection, and single- and multi-step soil extraction tests. Pore water collection recovered low levels of Cu ( less then 0.18%, regardless of soil type or Cu dose). Single soil extraction by either CaCl2 or DI water led to higher Cu recovery than pore water collection, but still less then 3% of total dose. These methods were useful for assessing the labile Cu ions pool. This fraction is controlled by Cu2+ dissolved from CuO NPs and it varies with time and soil type. Particulate Cu was poorly retrieved ( less then 0.7%) by pore water extraction and by single-step soil extraction using CaCl2 solution or water. Multi-step extraction including dispersing and metal-chelating agents allowed for simultaneous characterization of dissolved Cu (total ionic Cu2+, 24-49% of dosed Cu), extractable CuO NPs (reversibly attached, 15-26% of dosed Cu), and non-extractable CuO NPs (irreversibly attached, 36-50% of dosed Cu), and it could describe the aging of NPs along 30 d. This method extracted a significantly higher concentration of Cu than pore water collection and was less sensitive to method parameters (e.g. filtration). This multi-step method can reduce pore water extraction-related factors that may confound the interpretation of environmental exposure data in NPs studies, and describe upper limits of both exchangeable Cu2+ and dispersible CuO NPs in soil that can potentially become bioavailable to plants and organisms and thus provide a sounder basis for risks evaluations.this website

A 6-month-old female Bengal cat was referred for a suspected vegetal foreign body (FB) in the mid-stroma of the right cornea. A small dark linear FB was identified in the dorsal aspect of the cornea, with associated cell infiltrate. Ophthalmic examination was otherwise normal, with no inflammatory reaction of the anterior uvea, and no abnormalities of the lens or fundus. Surgical removal was performed under general anesthesia. The FB, as observed under an optic microscope, was a worker bee stinger without the venom sac. Medical treatment consisted of topical and systemic antibiotics and steroids, and topical administration of atropine. Follow-up was uneventful.

Ocular bee stings have been described in humans, with several consequences ranging from mild conjunctivitis to severe lesions affecting the cornea, iris, lens and retina. Most severely affected cases have been observed when the venom sac was found with the stinger, with a likely greater amount of venom being delivered into the ocular structures. The relatively benign presentation of this case was probably due to the lack of the venom sac within the bee sting. To our knowledge, this is the first documented case of a corneal bee sting in a cat.
A 7-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair cat was presented for persistent anemia of unknown origin. Splenomegaly was diagnosed through physical examination and abdominal radiographs, and an abdominal ultrasound was performed. The ultrasound showed splenomegaly, as well as one discrete mass in the body of the spleen. selleck chemical A splenectomy was performed and histopathology along with immunohistochemistry for CD18 and CD204 confirmed a diagnosis of hemophagocytic histiocytic sarcoma (HS). Two courses of lomustine (CCNU) chemotherapy were used in this cat along with adjuvant oral prednisolone and iron dextran injections, but the cat eventually succumbed to hepatic failure, presumed to be secondary to metastatic disease.

The clinical pathology results and ultrasonographic studies performed before and after treatment in this cat provide useful preliminary information about the biologic behavior and response to treatment for this rare cancer. This is also the first reported case where both CD18 and CD204 were strongly positive, confirming hemophagocytic HS in a cat.
We wanted to replicate this result in the context of unemployment. Heren the meaning of work and meaning in life influenced the perception of unemployment and consequently had an impact on mental health. This study points to new ways of thinking about unemployment and career transitions. Whereas the COVID-19-induced economic crisis will see millions of people losing their jobs, these results could assist counselors in helping unemployed people better understand the experiences they are going through.Smoking is a global health problem among health science students. The objectives of this study were to estimate the prevalence of smoking and to examine associated factors among health science students from five universities in Vietnam. Among 5946 participants (95.0% response rate), the smoking prevalence was 19.2% (95% CI17.4-21.0%) among male students and 2.9% (95% CI2.4-3.5%) among female students. In the multivariable regression models, significant factors for smoking were the perceived financial burden, the respondent's year in university, a non-self-determined motivation profile, self-reported depression and/or anxiety, the level of vigorous physical activity, and alcohol drinking.
Polypharmacy is ubiquitous in patients on hemodialysis (HD), and increases risk of adverse events, medication interactions, nonadherence, and mortality. Appropriately applied deprescribing can potentially minimize polypharmacy risks. Existing guidelines are unsuitable for nephrology clinicians as they lack specific instructions on how to deprescribe and which safety parameters to monitor.

To develop and validate deprescribing algorithms for nine medication classes to decrease polypharmacy in patients on HD.

Questionnaires and materials sent electronically.

Nephrology practitioners across Canada (nephrologists, nurse practitioners, renal pharmacists).

A literature search was performed to develop the initial algorithms via Lynn's method for development of content-valid clinical tools. Content and face validity of the algorithms was evaluated over three interview rounds using Lynn's method for determining content validity. Canadian nephrology clinicians each evaluated three algorithms (15 clinicians per round, 45 clinicians in total) by rating each algorithm component on a four-point Likert scale for relevance; face validity was rated on a five-point scale.selleck chemical
