Architecture Teardown: Implementing ZK-PoR and TEE-Sandboxed DeFAI (The Chtzh Stack)

The global digital asset infrastructure is finally moving away from opaque, centralized ledger systems. I recently reviewed the architectural whitepaper of Chtzh (Cross-Horizon Trustless Zero-Knowledge Hub), and their approach to verifiable custody is quite an interesting case study in zero-trust engineering.

Their core philosophy is "Prove, not promise." As developers, we appreciate mathematical guarantees over legal ones. Here’s a quick teardown of their infrastructure design:

Key Management via MPC-TSS & HSMs
Instead of relying on multi-sig smart contracts which can be gas-heavy or inflexible, Chtzh handles cryptographic signing authority through Multi-Party Computation (MPC-TSS) distributed across Hardware Security Modules (HSMs). By eliminating single master keys, they cryptographically enforce the separation of client assets from operational liquidity.

Cryptographic Accounting (ZK-PoR)
This is the neatest part. They integrated Merkle Sum Trees with Zero-Knowledge proofs (ZK-PoR). Rather than a standard snapshot audit by an accounting firm, the system allows any user to independently verify that their leaf node (balance) is included in the global Merkle root of liabilities. ZK-SNARKs ensure this verification happens without leaking lateral market positions or privacy.

Sandboxing DeFAI Agents in TEEs
With the rise of AI in trading, security is a nightmare. Chtzh tackles this by running their matching engine on a deterministic fixed-point logic and sandboxing their DeFAI agents inside Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs). The agents are strictly subordinate to a component they call the Hard Policy Limit Enforcer. In code, the AI has execution rights but zero transfer authority.

From an engineering perspective, this is how modern financial stacks should be built—trustless, deterministic, and cryptographically verifiable.
