I Built PasteSite Because I Wanted a Better Pastebin

I've used Pastebin and similar sites quite a bit over the years, mostly for quickly sharing code, logs, or random text.

I always felt like there was room for something simpler.

I wanted to be able to paste something, get a link, and move on without dealing with a bunch of ads or unnecessary stuff. So I decided to build my own: PasteSite.

It's basically a simple place to share code and text.

You can create pastes with syntax highlighting, set them to expire, protect them with a password, or have them automatically disappear after being read. You can also use custom URLs for your pastes.

One thing I wanted to keep important is that the basic service is actually free. Creating and reading pastes doesn't have ads, and you don't have to sign up just to share something.
The free plan

The free account currently gives you:

100,000 characters per paste

20 saved revisions per paste

200 folders

200 recent pastes in the dashboard

There's also a Plus plan for $5/month if you need more room. It increases the limits to 250,000 characters, 100 revisions, and 1,000 folders, and adds API keys for terminal/API access.
Why build another Pastebin?

Honestly, I just wanted something I would actually want to use.

I didn't want to make the free version intentionally frustrating so people would have to pay. I'd rather have someone use PasteSite for free because it works well and upgrade later because they actually need the extra features.

I'm still working on it, so I'm interested in hearing from other developers.

What do you use Pastebin or similar services for, and what would you want a better alternative to have?

If you want to try it out:
