&lt;p&gt;This study included 53 RRMS remission patients, 30 RRMS relapse/post-relapse patients and 44 healthy volunteers. Blood samples were collected once from RRMS patients in remission and from the control group, and twice from RRMS relapse patients once when relapsing and another 1 month after relapse. The endocan, CRP and NLR levels of the RRMS patients measured while in relapse, 1 month after relapse and while in remission were compared to those of the control group. The studied parameters were compared with the disease duration, relapse frequency, Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score, applied treatment and lesion burden assessed using magnetic good indicator of relapse. &lt;br&gt;
 Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive debilitating neurodegenerative disease with a life expectancy of 3-5 years from initial symptoms. We report a case of ALS who received autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSC) and was followed up for 7 years. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A 46-year-old man noticed weakness of his legs, difficulties on going down the stairs and coughing during eating in 2009. After complete workout, a diagnosis of ALS was confirmed. His ALS Functional Rating Scale-R (ALSFS-R) was 43. Symptoms rapidly progressed and he coughed and choked during eating. Starting in 2013, the patient received a total of six intravenous infusions of autologous ADSC. Changes in electromyogram, nerve conduction, and ALSFS-R were assessed. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Soon after the administration, he noticed that he did not cough during conversation or eating food. Although he had difficulty in walking down the stairs, he remained well without coughing, dysarthria, or dysphagia. His ALSFS-R increased up to 45. Fascicular potentials were not detected in any muscles examined including trapezius muscle and rectus femoris muscles. The patient was well for 7 years after ADSC therapy by the time of this report and more than 10 years from the time of onset. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The present case suggests that autologous ADSC can be administered safely and may be potentially useful in patients with ALS. Further investigations are warranted in order for the results to be generalized to other ALS patients. &lt;br&gt;

 Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is becoming increasingly useful for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD). Coronary calcium score (CCS), epicardial fat volume (EFV), and number of coronary plaques (NoP) add important information for the risk stratification and prognosis prediction of these patients. However, evidence about their ability to predict obstructive CAD is limited. We sought to evaluate the ability of CCTA parameters in predicting obstructive CAD. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We address this issue by exploring Microsoft Academic Graph, Semantic Scholar, and PubMed Knowledge Graph to enhance the built-in name metadata, and extend the internal metadata with some external and more discriminative metadata. &lt;/p&gt;

One of the most persistent challenges in genome biology has been confidently reconstructing radiations of complex gene families. Olfactory receptors (ORs) represent just such a gene family with upwards of 1000s of receptors in some mammalian taxa. Whereas in birds olfaction was historically an overlooked sensory modality, new studies have revealed an important role for smell. Chromosome-level assemblies for birds allow a new opportunity to characterize patterns of OR diversity among major bird lineages. Previous studies of short read (second-generation) genome assemblies have associated OR gene family size with avian ecology, but such conclusions could be premature if new assembly methods reshape our understanding of avian OR evolution. Here we provide a fundamental characterization of OR repertoires in five recent genome assemblies, including the most recent assembly of golden-collared manakin (Manacus vitellinus). We find that short read-based assemblies systematically undercount the avian-specific gamma-c OR subfamily, a subfamily that comprises over 65% of avian OR diversity. Therefore, in contrast to previous studies we find a high diversity of gamma-c ORs across the avian tree of life. Building on these findings, ongoing sequencing efforts and improved genome assemblies will clarify the relationship between OR diversity and avian ecology.The use of artificial light at night (ALAN) is increasing exponentially worldwide and there is growing evidence that ALAN contributes to the decline of insect populations. One of the most conspicuous ecological effects is the strong attraction of ALAN to flying insects. In several studies, light sources with strong short wavelength emissions have been shown to attract the highest numbers of flying insects. Furthermore, flying stages of aquatic insects are reported to be more vulnerable to ALAN than flying stages of terrestrial insects. This is concerning because freshwater habitats are likely affected by ALAN that originates from human activity centers, which are typically close to sources of freshwater. However, the effects of ALAN on aquatic insects, that spend their larval phase (amphibiotic insects) or their whole life cycle (fully aquatic insects) in freshwaters, are entirely understudied. Here, we investigated phototaxis of aquatic insects to ALAN at different wavelengths and intensities. We used floatiitive to green/yellow light. However, the uptake, transport, and metabolic processes of Se and its underlying mechanisms in plants have not been well characterized. Here, we review our current understanding of the adsorption and assimilation of Se in plants. The economic burden and health threats caused by these coronaviruses are extremely dreadful and getting more serious as the increasing number of global infections and attributed deaths of SARS-CoV-2 and MERS-CoV. Unfortunately, specific medical countermeasures for these hCoVs remain absent. Moreover, the fast spread of misinformation about the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic uniquely places the virus alongside an annoying infodemic and causes unnecessary worldwide panic. SARS-CoV-2 shares many similarities with SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, certainly, obvious differences exist as well. Lessons learnt from SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, timely updated information of SARS-CoV-2 and MERS-CoV, and summarized specific knowledge of these hCoVs are extremely invaluable for effectively and efficiently contain the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 and MERS-CoV. By gaining a deeper understanding of hCoVs and the illnesses caused by them, we can bridge knowledge gaps, provide cultural weapons for fighting and controling the spread of MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2, and prepare effective and robust defense lines against hCoVs that may emerge or reemerge in the future. To this end, the state-of-the-art knowledge and comparing the biological features of these lethal hCoVs and the clinical characteristics of illnesses caused by them are systematically summarized in the review.Contagious ovine digital dermatitis (CODD) is a significant disease of the ovine foot characterised by severe lameness and progressive separation of the hoof horn capsule from the underlying tissue. Similar to bovine digital dermatitis (BDD), pathogenic members of the genus Treponema including the Treponema medium phylogroup, Treponema phagedenis phylogroup and Treponema pedis are frequently found together in CODD lesions. To date, CODD was only described in Ireland and the United Kingdom. In northern Germany, cases of an unusually severe lameness presented in a sheep flock that had been affected by footrot for several years. These cases were non-responsive to conventional footrot therapies, with some sheep exhibiting substantial lesions of the claw horn that resulted in horn detachment. Lesion swab samples were collected from both clinically affected and asymptomatic animals. In all clinically affected sheep, CODD-associated Treponema phylogroups were detected by polymerase chain reaction. This is the first report of CODD in Germany and mainland Europe, indicating a wider geographic spread than previously considered. In cases of severe lameness attributed to claw lesions in sheep that fail to respond to footrot treatment, CODD should be considered irrespective of geographic location. &lt;br&gt;
 Aplasia cutis congenita (ACC) is a rare congenital condition characterized by the absence of skin layers and sometimes other underlying structures, in a localized or widespread area. The exact etiopathogenesis is not yet completely understood. Membranous ACC (MACC) also described as bullous or cystic ACC is a clinical subtype of ACC, covered with a membranous or glistening surface, and appears as a flat scar. There are less than 20 cases reported in the literature. It has been proposed an abortive form of a defective closure of the neural tube. On the other hand, the trisomy 18 is a chromosomal abnormality characterized by a broad clinical spectrum and the presence of defective closure of the neural tube. &lt;/p&gt;

The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effect of Bilateral-pectoral major muscle advancement flap combined with Vacuum-assisted closure therapy on rehabilitation for the treatment of deep sternal wound infection after cardiac surgery. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Between January 2016 to January 2018, 21 patients (10 males, 11 females) with deep sternal wound infection after cardiac surgery underwent Bilateral-pectoral major muscle advancement flap combined with Vacuum-assisted closure therapy. These patients were followed-up 12 months postoperative. The patient characteristics, duration of vacuum-assisted closure therapy, the mean hospital stay, postoperative complications, long-term survival of patients were retrospectively analyzed. &lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Acute ischemic stroke is a devastating disease with very limited therapeutics. Growing appreciation of dysregulated autophagy contributes to the progression of brain ischemic injury, making it to be an appealing intervention target. In terms of its well-characterized consequences, the signal molecules required for autophagy activation are rather poorly defined. Here, we found the induction of chloride channel-3 (ClC-3) directly activated autophagy, which played an important role in limiting cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Further mechanism exploration discovered that the up-regulation of ClC-3 was critical for the interaction of Beclin1 and Vps34. After ClC-3 knockdown using adeno-associated virus vectors in vivo, the autophagy activation was partially inhibited through disrupting the formation of Beclin1 and Vps34 complex. Consistent with these observations, ClC-3 knockdown could also significantly aggravated cerebral I/R injury through suppressing autophagy in vivo, which further confirmed the neuroprotective roles of ClC-3. Collectively, we provided an novel evidence for ClC-3 serving as a crucial regulator of autophagy; and our results indicated that the induction of ClC-3 may serve as a self-protective mechanism against cerebral I/R injury.GSK-126 is recognized as an inhibitor of enhancer of zeste homolog-2 (EZH2) activity. EZH2 is a histone methyltransferase that catalyzes histone 3 tri-methylation at lysine 27 (H3K27me3), resulting in gene silencing. A previous report showed that decreased H3K27me3 levels in the hippocampus may promote seizure susceptibility, possibly restricting the clinical application of GSK-126. The role of GSK-126 in seizure susceptibility was investigated in this study. We first determined a critical concentration of pentamethazol (PTZ) under which mice exhibit no seizures. We then found that mice pretreated with GSK-126 and injected with the same concentration of PTZ experienced marked convulsions. Peripheral injections of GSK-126 decreased H3K27me3 levels in the hippocampus of mice, while some seizure-related genes (Oasl1, Sox7, armcx5, Ncx3, etc.) were found to be differentially expressed in the hippocampus of those mice . These differences in the expression levels might reflect the crucial role of these genes and related pathways in the promotion of seizure susceptibility. &lt;p&gt;A total of 490 participants were evaluated. The total mean FPS rating was 3.5 ± 0.6. FPS was significantly lower (more positive) in participants with obesity (3.2 ± 0.7) compared with participants without obesity (3.5 ± 0.5, p &amp;lt; 0.001). Overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS) and recurrence patterns were compared before and after 11 propensity score matching (PSM). &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;662 patients were enrolled, 341 (51.5%) and 321 (48.5%) of whom were in the PG and EPG, respectively. After PSM (n = 195), EPG showed poorer 5-year OS (43.4% vs 54.5%, p = 0.014) and DFS (65.0% vs 73.4%, p = 0.068) than PG. EPG had higher incidence of peritoneal recurrence (PR) than PG (19.4% vs 7.4%, p = 0.002). Multivariate analysis identified AEMLNs as prognostic factor for OS [HR = 1.409, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.062-1.868), DFS (HR = 1.600, 95% CI 1.059-2.416) and PR (HR = 3.708, 95% CI 1.685-8.160). &lt;/p&gt;

 The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has had a profound impact on cancer care in the US Guidelines focused on the management of COVID-19, rather than healthcare needs of breast cancer patients requiring access to crucial services. This US survey of breast cancer survivors characterizes treatment delays early period in the pandemic. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We developed a survey and administered itto 609 adult breast cancer survivors in the US. We used snowball sampling with invitations distributed via social media. We used logistic regression to select a model of delay from a pool of independent variables including race, cancer stage, site of care, health insurance, and age. We used descriptive statistics to characterize delay types. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Forty-four percent of participants reported cancer care treatment delays during the pandemic. Delays in all aspects of cancer care and treatment were reported.
