      <title>What I Learned Building 8 Search-Intent Game Guide Sites</title>

  The problem is not a lack of game content
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Most early game-guide sites begin as broad collections: a release-date post, a few news stories, a list of characters, perhaps a page titled "beginner guide." That structure looks complete in a sitemap but often fails the player who arrives from search with a precise, urgent question.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;They are not looking for a generic introduction. They are asking:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Is the game out in my region?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Can I join the playtest safely?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Is the PC version confirmed?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Does this game actually work like Tarkov, Sekiro, or Stardew Valley?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;What did the developer confirm, and what is still speculation?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have been building eight small game-guide sites around those moments. The project is an experiment in &lt;strong&gt;search-intent publishing&lt;/strong&gt;: every useful page should answer one query well, show where its information came from, and make its uncertainty visible.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The aim is not to create the biggest pre-release wiki. It is to create the most dependable next click.&lt;/p&gt;

  The editorial model: one question, one canonical answer
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A search-focused guide gets stronger when a reader can tell three things immediately:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;What the page answers.&lt;/strong&gt; A release-status page should not compete with a separate news article for the same release-date query.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;How current the answer is.&lt;/strong&gt; Status, configuration, test, and platform pages need a visible review date and a concrete update trigger.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;What is evidence and what is inference.&lt;/strong&gt; Official store pages, developer announcements, and official videos form the baseline. Public footage is useful but does not prove every system detail. Community testing can be valuable, but it must be labelled and dated.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This sounds obvious, but it changes the content plan. I do not add a new URL merely because a keyword has a close variant. I first ask whether a stronger existing page can be updated, linked better, or given a clearer first-screen answer.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;They share quality standards, not a shared presentation template. The questions behind a cozy life sim are fundamentally different from the questions behind a PvPvE extraction game.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  1. Mistfall Hunter: treat launch as an operating state
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Mistfall is the clearest example of why a generic news site is not enough. During launch windows, users search for live answers: launch time by region, server status, fatal errors, FOV limits, stutter, anti-cheat, solo class choices, and extraction rules.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That demands an operating rhythm:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Update the existing status or settings URL after a Steam or developer announcement.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Put the answer before the background context.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Keep destructive or unsafe "fixes" out of technical troubleshooting.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Add a version and a source to any build or class conclusion.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Link incident news back to the matching setting, system, or beginner page.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A reader who searches for a crash fix should not have to traverse three news posts to find the current answer.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  2. Witchbrook: build relationships, not empty entity pages
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Witchbrook has a broader long-tail surface: people, locations, classes, festivals, shops, romance, co-op, and platform availability. The temptation is to generate hundreds of thin database pages. That is a bad trade.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A worthwhile entity page needs its own source, a confirmed role or location, a relationship to nearby entities, and a reason for a reader to continue. A Mossport location should lead to characters, systems, and related official coverage. A character should not be called a romance candidate unless the source supports it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The result is closer to a maintained reference library than a news feed.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  3. Pre-release action games need purchase judgement, not fake builds
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Phantom Blade Zero, Beautiful Light, WARDOGS, Ardem, and Fate Trigger all face a version of the same pre-release problem: there is audience demand for builds, routes, tier lists, exact stats, and "best" choices before a public version can support those claims.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The better content is usually a decision page:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;What platforms have an official store page?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Which mechanics are confirmed in public material?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;What is unknown about cross-play, progression, performance, or monetization?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Which established game is a meaningful comparison, and where does the comparison stop?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;What is the next announcement that could change the answer?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For example, a WARDOGS comparison page should explain the public shape of its three-team structure and cash economy. It should not invent weapon recoil tables. A Fate Trigger page should use the full game name consistently, because the word "Fate" alone is a poor search target.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  4. Update triggers are more useful than decorative freshness
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A date modified today does not make a page current. I use an update trigger instead:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This creates a healthier maintenance queue. If there is no new evidence, a page does not get a cosmetic date refresh. If a source changes the answer, the existing canonical page gets the update.&lt;/p&gt;

  5. Media is evidence, not decoration
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Strong guide pages need visual context, but an unrelated trailer at the top of every article is not useful media.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The media policy behind these sites is:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Prefer official Steam galleries, developer press assets, official YouTube channels, and clearly attributable public material.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Match the media to the page question. A PC-settings article does not need a cinematic trailer just to fill space.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Record the source and the date the asset was checked.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Use official video embeds for context, then state plainly what the footage can and cannot establish.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Do not hotlink competitor images or use scraped fan art as editorial proof.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  The practical test
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Before publishing a new page, I ask a short set of questions:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Does the title and first paragraph answer one identifiable query?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Is there a source a reader can open?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Does the page say what remains unconfirmed?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Are there two to four helpful next links?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Would an announcement change this URL, or should it update a stronger parent page?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Is the image or video connected to the subject rather than simply attractive?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If the answer is no, the page probably needs more research or should not exist yet.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  Where this experiment goes next
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The next phase is intentionally unglamorous: monitor impressions, clicks, click-through rate, and which pages earn second-page visits. Expand the clusters that real users search for. Rewrite pages with impressions but weak CTR. Merge duplicate intent before it becomes technical debt.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For game content, trust is cumulative. A small guide site will not win by claiming to know everything. It can win by being the page that tells a player exactly what is known, exactly what is not, and where to go next.&lt;/p&gt;

  Turn the spark into a one-page hypothesis
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Start with one sentence:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For &lt;strong&gt;[specific player]&lt;/strong&gt;, this game delivers &lt;strong&gt;[repeatable feeling]&lt;/strong&gt; through &lt;strong&gt;[core action]&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;/blockquote&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For example, “For players who like short co-op sessions, this game delivers a hectic rescue fantasy through quick building and extraction rounds.” That statement is not a pitch yet. It is a testable claim about audience, feeling, and loop.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  Seven boxes worth filling before production expands
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;h3&gt;
  
  
  1. The core loop
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;What will a player do, learn, earn, and choose to do again? Write it in a short loop, not a feature list. If the loop cannot be explained in a few lines, it is probably too vague to test.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h3&gt;
  
  
  2. The first-session promise
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The first session needs a visible win: a new ability, a clear upgrade, a funny failure, a completed run, or a social moment worth sharing. Decide which signal should appear before a player leaves.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h3&gt;
  
  
  3. The thumbnail hypothesis
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A thumbnail is a promise, not decoration. Create two directions with different promises—scale, danger, discovery, chaos, fashion, teamwork—and ask which one matches the first session. If the image promises one game and the opening delivers another, the problem is product expectation, not just click-through rate.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h3&gt;
  
  
  4. Store copy in plain language
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The first sentence should tell a new player what they can do today. Avoid vague lines like “an immersive experience.” Prefer a concrete verb and situation: “Build a tiny rescue rig, race through a collapsing map, and bring your crew home with the loot.”&lt;/p&gt;

  5. A price and progression assumption
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Write down what is cosmetic, what is convenience, and what would feel unfair if sold. The plan may change, but making the assumption explicit is healthier than adding monetisation after the loop is already hard to adjust.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h3&gt;
  
  
  6. One retention question
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Why should someone return after the first good session? A new map, a social goal, a mastery challenge, or an evolving collection can all work. Pick one early reason instead of adding five shallow systems.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h3&gt;
  
  
  7. The first update signal
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Decide what player evidence will shape the next update: completion rate, a survey response, a session replay, a creator clip, or a small playtest conversation. A roadmap should react to a signal, not just a calendar.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  A lightweight launch-readiness check
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Before expanding scope, answer these questions with the team:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Can a new player describe the game after one round?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Does the thumbnail promise match the opening minute?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Is there one clear reason to return?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Can you explain the store copy without genre jargon?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Do you know which player signal will change the next update?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If two or more answers are “not yet,” the next task is probably a test, not a new feature.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Long serial fiction creates an unusual discovery problem. A reader is not choosing a two-hour film; they may be deciding whether to invest hundreds of chapters in a voice, pacing style, translation, and protagonist they have not met yet.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That makes a “five stars” score almost useless. The real job of a review system is to help a reader make a personal decision with just enough information—and without ruining the experience with plot details.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  A review is a decision aid, not a verdict
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The first design choice is to separate &lt;em&gt;fit&lt;/em&gt; from &lt;em&gt;quality&lt;/em&gt;. A slow-burn political arc can be excellent for one reader and a reason to stop for another. A review system should therefore expose the dimensions that change a decision instead of pretending there is one universal ranking.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For cultivation, xianxia, wuxia, progression fantasy, and LitRPG readers, I keep coming back to five spoiler-light questions.&lt;/p&gt;

  The five-question rubric

  1. Does the premise match the mood you want right now?
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The idea came from a repeated workflow: I ask an LLM to generate a Mermaid or PlantUML diagram, then I need another tool to preview it, fix syntax issues, and export it before using it in docs.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So I turned that middle step into a browser-first toolbox for developers. It supports Mermaid, PlantUML, Graphviz, D2, OpenAPI, SQL ER, JSON/YAML/XML/CSV visualizers, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, package.json dependency diagrams, and a few AI-assisted tools.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;AI has made it much easier to generate technical diagrams. A model can draft Mermaid flowcharts, PlantUML sequence diagrams, architecture notes, OpenAPI flows, SQL schema relationships, Docker Compose service maps, and Kubernetes summaries.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But AI-generated diagram text still needs a practical handoff step before it becomes usable documentation.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;You need to preview it. You need to catch syntax errors. You need to export it as SVG, PNG, or PDF. Sometimes you need to turn it into an editable artifact that fits an existing documentation workflow.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Here is a simple example. This Mermaid source is useful, but it is not “done” until someone checks the rendered output:&lt;br&gt;
