I used Goodstack’s nonprofit verification system to obtain software and AI-related benefits.

The overall process does not begin by logging into Goodstack first. Instead, when you click “Sign Up for Free” on the Goodstack website and start the application process, the system first asks you to search for and select an organization.

After selecting an organization, different paths may appear depending on the organization’s current status on Goodstack. If the organization has not yet been claimed, you may be able to claim it. If the organization has already been claimed by someone else, there may be an option to request access or apply to join the organization.

I mainly used two methods.

The first method involved clicking “Sign Up for Free,” searching for a nonprofit organization that had not yet been claimed, and then attempting to claim that organization.

To complete the organization verification process, I would use falsified supporting documents or genuine information about a real nonprofit organization that was publicly available through its official website, government websites, public registration databases, or other public sources.

After the organization was successfully claimed and verified, I would contact Goodstack support and ask them to change the contact email associated with the organization to an email address under my control.

Once the change was completed, the verified nonprofit organization would effectively become associated with an email address that I controlled.

I could then use the organization’s verified nonprofit status to apply for various discounts and benefits for other accounts.

These benefits included offers related to ChatGPT, Claude Team, Microsoft Azure, Adobe, Canva, and other services.

The second method involved nonprofit organizations that had already been claimed and verified by someone else on Goodstack.

Again, the process started by clicking “Sign Up for Free” on Goodstack and then searching for and selecting the target organization.

If the organization had already been claimed, the system would sometimes display an option such as “Request to Join” or another similar access-request option.

At that point, it was possible to submit a request to join the existing organization.

However, simply submitting the request was not enough to complete the process. Certain stages required confirmation through the organization’s official email address or approval from an organization administrator.

Therefore, the key part of this method was whether control over the organization’s email account or relevant administrative account could be obtained.

Organizations using their own custom-domain email addresses, for example:

name@organization.org

were particularly relevant.

An attacker could attempt to gain unauthorized control of the organization’s mailbox or related administrative account.

If control of the organization’s email was obtained, the attacker could then handle the Goodstack confirmation emails related to the join request and approve their own request to join the organization.

After successfully joining the organization, a similar email-confirmation process could appear again when applying for certain nonprofit benefits.

For example, after an account submits an application for a nonprofit benefit, the system may send a confirmation email to the organization’s owner, administrator, or official email address.

The email may ask the organization to confirm whether the applicant actually belongs to the organization or whether the organization agrees to provide the benefit to that account.

The message may contain a “Yes,” “Approve,” “Confirm,” or similar approval option.

If the organization’s email account is already under the attacker’s control, those confirmation requests can also be approved, allowing additional accounts controlled by the attacker to receive benefits associated with that nonprofit organization.

The overall logic of the second method is therefore:

Click “Sign Up for Free” on Goodstack
→ search for and select an organization that has already been claimed
→ submit a request to join that organization
→ obtain control of the organization’s relevant email or administrative access
→ handle and approve the organization-membership confirmation email
→ successfully join the already verified Goodstack organization
→ use the organization’s nonprofit eligibility to apply for different benefits
→ approve the relevant benefit requests through the organization’s email
→ allow accounts under my control to receive those benefits.

The benefits that could be obtained through Goodstack nonprofit eligibility included:

ChatGPT nonprofit or Team-related discounts
Claude Team discounts of up to approximately 75%
Similar Claude discounts that could also apply to higher-tier or advanced seats
Microsoft Azure nonprofit benefits, including approximately $2,000 in Azure cloud credits
Adobe nonprofit memberships or Adobe-related discounts
Canva nonprofit benefits
Other AI, cloud-service, design-software, productivity-tool, developer-tool, and SaaS benefits

Another very important part of the process involved stacking nonprofit discounts with other Team promotional codes.

Some Team promotional codes were not simple percentage discounts. Instead, they reduced the subscription price by a fixed monetary amount.

If a nonprofit discount was applied first and then combined with one of these fixed-value Team promotional codes, the final subscription price could be reduced significantly.

In some cases, the final amount could even be reduced to zero, effectively making the Team subscription or corresponding seats free.

Because of this, accounts or Team workspaces created using verified nonprofit eligibility could also be transferred or sold to other users.

Overall, the method relied on a combination of:

Goodstack’s organization-claiming mechanism
→ access requests for already verified organizations
→ organization email confirmation
→ nonprofit benefit approval mechanisms
→ Team promotional-code stacking

This could ultimately be used to obtain software, AI, cloud-service, and subscription benefits intended for legitimate nonprofit organizations and their authorized members, and apply those benefits to accounts under the operator’s control.
