This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 3: Slow and Steady

 What I Built

Built: Sloth Mode 🦥 — a real-time collaborative task manager designed to reduce manual work.
Task board: Manage and organize tasks.
Open-source AI: Automatically categorize and prioritize tasks using a model running locally in the browser
Real-time collaboration: Share tasks and see updates live.
Database: Store tasks with access controls.
Note: These are the planned/built features described in your project summary; successful operation and offline functionality have not yet been verified.

 Demo

https://youtu.be/64l_YbBANA8?si=TMnQlmb9jTfqVusP

 Code

APP: https://sloth-inspired-open-a9md.bolt.host/
GITHUB: https://github.com/preethiprabhu30/SLOWANDSTEADY.git

 How I Built It

I built Sloth Mode, a real-time collaborative task manager, using React and TypeScript. I integrated Transformers.js to run open-source AI models locally in the browser for automatic task categorization and prioritization. I used Bolt Database to store tasks securely with Row-Level Security (RLS) and implemented real-time updates for collaboration.
The goal was to reduce manual effort while keeping AI processing local, improving privacy and making task management easier.

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Open innovation makes Sloth Mode flexible, privacy-focused, and accessible. By using open-source AI with Transformers.js, the application can run AI models locally in the browser, reducing dependence on external AI services and helping keep task data on the user's device during local inference. It also allows developers to customize models, change how tasks are categorized, and avoid mandatory paid AI APIs. This makes task management smarter, more affordable, and aligned with the Slow and Steady theme: less manual work, more time to relax.

 My Agent Session

I used an AI coding agent to build Sloth Mode step by step. The agent helped set up the project, install Transformers.js, plan the database migration, and develop the task board with local AI categorization and real-time collaboration. I then planned to connect the components and verify that the application worked as expected.

 The Lazy Payoff

Sloth Mode saves time and effort by automatically organizing and prioritizing tasks using open-source AI. Instead of manually sorting every task, users can focus on what matters most while the app handles the routine work. Local AI processing can also improve privacy and reduce reliance on paid AI APIs.

 Prize Categories

Sloth Mode is designed for the Slow and Steady theme by making everyday task management easier through open-source AI. It combines local AI processing, task automation, and real-time collaboration to help users work smarter with less effort.

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle

 What I Built

I built Listing Forge, an AI-powered tool that helps online marketplace sellers create compelling, professional product listings faster. It helps sellers turn basic product information into engaging product titles and descriptions designed to attract buyers and improve listing quality.
The product solves the problem of spending too much time writing product listings, struggling to find the right words, and creating inconsistent descriptions across multiple products.Who would pay for it? E-commerce entrepreneurs, small business owners, resellers, and marketplace sellers who regularly upload products and want to save time while improving the quality of their listings. The business opportunity is to offer a freemium model, with paid plans for bulk listing generation, advanced AI writing, and higher usage limits. This allows sellers to focus less on writing and more on growing their businesses.

VIDEO LINK:https://youtu.be/2Npr7V0QVm4

 Code

https://github.com/preethiprabhu30/SIDEHUSTLEDEVWEEK2.git

 How I Built It

I built Listing Forge as a web-based AI tool designed to simplify and speed up product listing creation for online sellers. I used an AI-powered workflow to transform basic product details into structured, engaging product titles and descriptions.
The application combines a simple user interface with an AI generation workflow, allowing users to provide product information and receive ready-to-use listing content without having to write everything manually.
I focused on making the experience practical and accessible, especially for small businesses and independent sellers who need to create multiple listings efficiently. The project demonstrates how open-source AI can be applied to a real-world e-commerce problem by reducing repetitive writing, improving consistency, and helping sellers save time.
The architecture is designed around a straightforward workflow: collect product details, process them through the AI generation pipeline, and present the generated listing in a format users can review and reuse.

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Open innovation matters because Listing Forge aims to make AI-powered product listing creation accessible to everyone, especially small businesses, independent sellers, and entrepreneurs who may not have the budget for expensive AI services.
Open-source AI makes it possible to build more flexible and customizable solutions, experiment with different models, and potentially reduce dependence on a single proprietary provider. It also creates opportunities to improve the product with community-driven innovation and adapt the AI workflow to different marketplaces, languages, and seller needs.
Unlike relying entirely on a closed API, an open-source approach can offer greater control over model selection, deployment, data handling, and long-term infrastructure costs, depending on the model's license and deployment setup.
For Listing Forge, open innovation represents an opportunity to make high-quality AI writing tools more affordable and adaptable, helping smaller sellers compete more effectively in e-commerce without requiring large teams or expensive software.

 My Agent Session

I built and submitted Listing Forge for the Hacktober.dev challenge. The project focuses on using AI to help online sellers create product listings more efficiently. My goal was to turn a practical problem into a working project and explore how open-source AI can be useful in real-world applications.

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 1: Touch Grass

 What I Built

LifeLens Outdoor is an AI-powered outdoor companion that uses open-weight AI to identify plants, birds, trees, flowers, and other things people encounter while exploring. Users simply point their camera at something interesting, and LifeLens provides a quick identification, useful facts, and suggestions for what to look for next. Instead of keeping users glued to a chatbot, LifeLens is designed to make the screen the shortest part of the experience—understand what you see, put the phone away, and continue exploring. It is built for hikers, nature lovers, students, travelers, and anyone curious about the world around them

 How I Built It

I built LifeLens Outdoor around open-weight AI and computer vision. The camera captures the user's surroundings, and an open vision model analyzes the image to identify species such as plants, birds, trees, and flowers. I designed the AI layer to be modular so models can be swapped, customized, or run locally where supported. The frontend is built with React and TypeScript, with a responsive outdoor-focused interface and a Demo Mode for testing the complete experience. The open approach gives LifeLens more flexibility, privacy, and control than relying entirely on a closed AI API, while helping us move toward offline, on-device species identification.

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Open innovation matters because LifeLens is designed for the real world, where internet access, privacy, and flexibility can be limited. Using open-weight AI gives us the freedom to swap and customize models, experiment with local inference, and keep visual data closer to the user instead of depending entirely on a closed API. It also makes it possible to optimize the system for specific outdoor use cases like species identification and offline exploration. This flexibility helps us build an AI that is not only smarter, but also more accessible, private, adaptable, and useful outside the screen.

 My Agent Session

I did not use a DevRelay agent session for this project.

 Prize Categories

Open AI / Open-Source AI — LifeLens Outdoor is built around open-weight AI for visual species identification, with a focus on local inference, model flexibility, privacy, and offline outdoor exploration.>
