This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 3: Slow and Steady

 What I Built

Long ago I learned some guitar in school, and just never picked it up after. So I got a guitar recently and have been learning the notes and frets. A beginner guitar book started out with what I never recalled learning - note by note picking notes on the guitar rather than strumming. So if you're wondering what notes in standard sheet music look like, you could convert each position to a note! A lot of developers like to slow down and do music once in awhile, this tool will help to deconstruct certain chords and strumming patterns we learn for guitar and look at the notes, easily dig in to the patterns or turn it into piano sheet music. Like we all like to dig in to source or "inspect source" on certain software or pages sometimes :)

 Demo

https://greatmapsllc.com/Guitar.html

 Code

https://github.com/programmin1/FunFretsGuitar

 How I Built It

I started it using Bionic with Gemma 4 12B, to start the html page with interactive web audio.

Scp copy to Digitalocean server.

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

It makes it quick to get started without a subscription to some cloud AI service.

 My Agent Session

"Show a page with guitar strings E,A,D,G,B,E at top, ability to choose a fret of each string to press by clicking the string - and display the standard nomenclature of the note. Then play the note with Web Audio API when I strum bottom of the strings using mousedown/mouseup."

Then adjusted further from there. Requesting sheet music lines and display too.

 The Lazy Payoff

This could save many minutes of time going and trying to look up a reference and then trying strumming the strings looking for the right chord or note.

 Prize Categories

Use of Gemma4.
Use of DigitalOcean hosting.

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle

 What I Built

Simple backup for Android APK. Just The Android APK, for when an app updates and you wish you had the old working version :(

 Demo

https://youtu.be/BSS6oF0iloM

 Code

https://github.com/programmin1/APKSafePassage

 How I Built It

I used GEMMA4 and LM Studio to start out the first draft of the Python program, and write the first draft of the html web page for it.

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Because anyone can run the llm on computer and assist in getting stuff working asap.

 My Agent Session

Starting out the app... "Build a simple TKinter Python3 app to list and back up connected Android phone's apps and keep old copies.
Use "adb pull" to pull apk from device. Use "adb install" when user selects to reinstall older version from the window."

And after, for the website... "Need a simple .html page with promo overview for "https://github.com/programmin1/APKSafePassage", safe passage for updating your apps. Back up previous versions on your computer in case you need to go back to older version. Only .apk is backed up, not data. Simple, easy backup.
Modern design and a link button to a preorder for Safe-Passage-Cloud, keeping the old versions available online for easy access from your device...."

 My First User

Not as of now, but I created a pre order for web based storage - Under Stripe, Products, created a subscription for preorder.

Built with GEMMA4 - initial set up with Gemma4 locally.

Built with DigitalOcean - The main page is hosted there: https://greatmapsllc.com/safe-passage/

PARC app basic app

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 1: Touch Grass

 What I Built

I started Android mobile app for PARC (https://parc-community.com/). This is used by amateur radio people going out to parks and contacting other hams.

 Demo

TBD

 Code

https://github.com/programmin1/SimplePARC

 How I Built It

I used Gemma 4 to start using local GPU and request...

"Build standard Java Android app with a map of PARC parks nearby for offline use.
API documented:
Download the full list / interact programmatically: PARC Community has a developer API (JSON) that lets you pull the complete park database and keep it in sync:

codeblock
GET /api/public-api/v1/parks — full list (POTA/WWFF/SOTA/ZLOTA/PARC references, names, coordinates, country/region)
GET /api/public-api/v1/parks/updates — only what changed since a given date (ideal to keep a local copy fresh)
GET /api/public-api/v1/parks/{reference} — a single park
GET /api/public-api/v1/spots — the live spots feed
GET /api/public-api/v1/stats — global stats
/parks/updates endpoint was built exactly for that kind of use — download once, then sync deltas —"

Then I fixed a build issue removing some junk from gradle-wrapper.properties:

zipStoreBase=https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-7.6
zipStorePath=~/gradle-distributed/\$GRADLE_VERSION

and removed

android.defaults.buildfeatures.buildconfig=true
added
android.useAndroidX=true

so gradle upgrades could run, set latest Android api works.

After fixing several Java errors I got as far as an error:
Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: API key not found. Check that is in the...

Apparently, this default Google map needs a key which requires payment set up... And I think Mapbox is probably preferable to the current set up. I need to get the right X-API-Key to continue this as well...

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Ability to download model and run it locally means one can run all the LM Studio tools and Gemma 4 locally.

 My Agent Session

See above. I had to fix several build issues myself. With the auto correct in Android Studio or Google/SO.

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend

 What I Built

Last week I met developer of UMSH, I saw that there was only ios beta, offered to try for an Android port (I'm on Android /e/OS Phone)

 Demo

TBD... I have it showing connecting, working but not connecting/receiving messages reliably right now.

 Code

https://github.com/darconeous/umsh/pull/11

 How I Built It

I just used OpenAI Codex, on the iOS version. Prompt: Do check out this ios app https://github.com/programmin1/umsh and turn it into a Java Android app...

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

There was open source ios beta of this umsh, but no open source Android version.

 My Agent Session
