After a full week of focused work - final polish, landing updates, copy improvements - we’re excited to say:

🚀 PromptCoder goes live on Product Hunt tomorrow.

It started as a solo-developer experiment.
Now it’s a real AI coding assistant - browser-based, context-aware, and fast to use.

If you’ve followed our journey so far, thank you.
Tomorrow, we take it public.

We’ll share the live Product Hunt link here when it’s up.

We’re stuck. In the project we started ourselves.

PromptCoder began as an experiment:
a browser-based coding tool with built-in AI prompts.

We thought we’d make a basic MVP and move on.
But something shifted.

Why it became a trap (in a good way):

We invested time, ideas, and identity

We started getting feedback from real users

We felt responsible - to ourselves and to the process

We didn’t plan to build a system.
But that’s exactly what it became.

 The project isn’t perfect:

⚠️ Traffic is inconsistent
⚠️ Audience fit still unclear
⚠️ Team is small and progress is slow

And yet - it’s become part of how we think.
We open the browser and ask:
"What can we improve today?"

 What’s next?

✅ GitHub integration

✅ Support for local folder workflows

✅ New UX iterations

✅ Honest documentation of the journey

 Final thought:

Effort ≠ success.
Success ≠ effort.
But effort increases your odds. And that’s all we’ve got.

Why PromptCoder Isn’t a VS Code Plugin (and That’s a Good Thing)

When we started working on PromptCoder, building a VS Code plugin seemed like the obvious move. Everyone does it - Copilot, Cody, even the smallest AI helpers.

But we quickly realized: that route wouldn’t give us what we wanted. Here’s why PromptCoder is browser-based - and staying that way (for now).

 1. VS Code limits project context

Plugins usually work on one file or tab. That’s fine for suggestions - not for real refactoring.

PromptCoder was built to understand entire projects: structure, modules, dependencies.

 2. The browser means zero friction

Click a link → start working. No installation, no config, no conflicts.

Perfect for quick tests, freelance projects, and side ideas.

 3. We own the UX

The browser gives us full freedom to design project views, history, and versioning the way we want.

(GitHub sync is already in development.)

 4. Onboarding is instant

No install guide. No barriers. Just send a link and go.

PromptCoder is still evolving. It’s not perfect — but this browser-first approach has already proven effective for working with real-world codebases.

👉 You can try the live version here.

No sign-up required. Feedback is very welcome!
