Designing Clear Buyer and Cardholder Journeys in an Android Marketplace App

A multi-role product becomes confusing quickly when the same transaction looks different to each participant. While building QwickPe, an Android technology marketplace for eligible card-linked shopping offers in India, we learned that clarity matters more than feature density.

This post shares the product-design principles behind separating Buyer and Cardholder journeys. It is not financial advice, and it does not promise that an offer, saving, earning, or settlement will be available for every transaction.

 1. Start with the user’s role

The first screen should answer one question: What am I here to do?

A Buyer needs to:

discover a supported shopping journey;

review the live offer and transaction amount;

follow the payment route shown in the app;

track the matched deal, order, return, or refund status.

An eligible Cardholder needs to:

review a matched request and disclosed earning;

decide whether to participate;

complete the supported merchant checkout;

provide the requested order information;

track completion and release status.

Showing both flows at once makes every step feel harder. We therefore keep the roles visually and verbally separate.

 2. Show one next action, not every possible action

A long feature list does not tell a user what to do next. Each stage should have a clear current state and a single primary action.

For example, a transaction may move through verification, matching, checkout, completion, cancellation, return, refund, or release. The interface should explain the current state in plain language instead of exposing internal implementation terms.

This also helps support: a user can share the deal ID, order ID, and visible status without having to interpret the system.

 3. Keep the transaction summary visible

Before a payment or merchant-checkout action, users should be able to re-check:

product and marketplace;

amount;

participant role;

offer context;

disclosed fee or earning, when applicable;

current transaction status.

The live transaction screen is the source of truth. Offer eligibility and final amounts can depend on the merchant, marketplace, issuer, card network, and payment-partner terms shown at that time.

 4. Design safety into the flow

Safety guidance should appear at the moment it is useful, not only inside a policy page.

Our core rule is simple: users should never share a PIN, CVV, OTP, banking password, or complete card details with another user. Payments and checkouts should happen only through the supported route shown in the active journey.

 5. Use history as an explanation layer

A good History screen is more than a list. It should help users understand what happened:

when a request was created;

when payment verification or matching occurred;

whether merchant checkout was completed;

whether a hold, cancellation, return, refund, release, or withdrawal is in progress;

what the user should do next, if anything.

That timeline reduces repeated support questions and makes multi-party transactions easier to follow.

 What we are improving next

We are continuing to improve:

plain-language status labels;

role-specific onboarding;

wallet and refund visibility;

responsive guidance for smaller screens;

accessibility and performance across the website and app journey.

You can see the public step-by-step flow at QwickPe How It Works or view the Android app on Google Play.

Disclosure: This article is published by the official QwickPe team. QwickPe is a technology marketplace. Availability, eligibility, savings, earnings, payment handling, and settlement depend on the live transaction and applicable third-party terms.
