A Story That Touched Me Today

Today I was reading news and I came across a story about a girl named Bharti from Roorkee, Haryana, and honestly, it really moved me. I’m not great at writing, but I felt like sharing this because it stayed in my head.

So basically, Bharti didn’t start her journey thinking she would become a boxer or anything big. She actually went to the stadium just to lose weight, because people at home kept commenting about how she looked. Her parents even told her to go with her cousin Monika so she could exercise and reduce weight. She was tired of listening to all that, and maybe that’s why she went.

But when she reached the stadium, she saw athletes training like crazy — punching bags, running, sweating, pushing themselves. Something changed inside her. Slowly she got interested in boxing, and one day she put on gloves just to try. And then she never stopped.

From going there because of taunts… she ended up becoming an international boxer. Now she’s preparing for big tournaments and dreams of representing India even more.

While reading this, one thought came strongly to my mind from Atomic Habits, a line that says:

“Environment is the invisible hand that shapes human behaviour.”

I felt this so deeply. If Bharti had stayed at home, surrounded by negativity, maybe nothing would have changed. But the moment she stepped into a different environment, everything changed — her habits, her confidence, even her identity.

It made me think that sometimes we don’t need motivation or big plans. We just need to put ourselves in the right place, around the right people. The rest follows little by little.

Bharti went to lose weight, but she found purpose instead.
She entered the stadium just to escape taunts, and came out as a champion.

Honestly, this story made me feel that maybe all of us just need to take that first step into the right environment. Who knows what we might become?

Always Be Prepared: A Lesson from the Unexpected

Yesterday taught me something simple yet profound: Always Be Prepared.

Life doesn’t always give us a heads-up. Opportunities often arrive without warning, and if we’re not ready, all we’re left with is regret. It’s a truth that applies to every walk of life — whether you’re a student, a professional, or an athlete.

Take the military, for example. They conduct regular drills and exercises not because war is certain, but because they must be ready if it happens. Their preparation is their strength. They train for the unknown, and that mindset is something we can all learn from.

 Why This Hit Me Yesterday

I was watching the Women’s World Cup match between India and South Africa when something remarkable happened. Due to an unfortunate injury to Pratika Rawal, Shafali Verma got a chance to play. She wasn’t even in the probable for the World Cup squad. Many in her position might have felt disappointed or discouraged. But not Shafali Verma.

She stayed focused. She trained hard. And when the moment came, she grabbed it with both hands — delivering a performance so outstanding that she was named Player of the Match.

Her story is a powerful reminder: preparation meets opportunity to create success.

 What We Can Learn

Shafali Verma’s journey shows us that setbacks — like not being selected initially — don’t have to define us. What matters is how we respond. Do we give up, or do we keep preparing, believing that our time will come?

Her example encourages us to stay ready, stay sharp, and stay hopeful. Because when your moment arrives, you want to be the one who’s ready to shine.

Final Thoughts
Whether you’re chasing a dream, waiting for a promotion, or hoping for a breakthrough — don’t wait to start preparing. Your opportunity might be just around the corner, and when it knocks, you’ll want to be ready.

So train like Shafali Verma. Think like the military. And remember: being prepared is never wasted effort.
