Tired of flat, outdated profile banners on GitHub? Want a beautiful, auto-updating visual showcasing your real achievements, contributions, and personality—without endless configuration?

Meet OpenReadme (openreadme.vercel.app): a modern, open-source project by Open Dev Society that helps devs, students, and organizations create stunning, live-updating README banners in just a few clicks.

 Why We Built OpenReadme (openreadme.vercel.app)

Navigating the world of developer portfolios and project READMEs, we noticed a recurring problem: most tools were either too static, too complex, or lacked feature-rich styling and customization.

We wanted something:

Simple enough for newcomers but powerful for advanced users

Beautiful by default, with customizable themes and layouts

Always up to date—no need for manual image creation or stat updates

Open-source and friendly for contributions

Enter OpenReadme (openreadme.vercel.app) – designed by devs, for devs.

 What Makes OpenReadme Stand Out?

 🚀 One-Click Beautiful READMEs

Effortlessly fill out your profile details via a dashboard

Support for your GitHub, social links, portfolio, and more

 📈 Live Stats, Always Fresh

Automatic daily updates—your profile banner regenerates itself every midnight UTC

Show off your latest stats: commits, stars, issues, PRs

No more outdated “snapshot” pictures—your README always reflects your journey

 🌐 API-First & Dev Friendly

RESTful API to generate images for ANY use-case

Serverless architecture, fast delivery, and smooth integration

TypeScript, Next.js, Tailwind, Puppeteer—built with tools you probably already love

 How It Works

visit the dashboard

Fill out and save your info

Receive a permanent image link—embed it anywhere: README, website, portfolio

Watch as stats update every day, automatically

Onboarding takes minutes. And it’s all open—no paywalls, no hidden limits.

CS50x Week 1 – Diving into C Programming

"The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled." — Plutarch

This past week, I stepped into a whole new territory of programming with C in CS50x Week 1, leaving the colorful blocks of Scratch behind. And let me tell you — it’s been quite a shift! From making eggs fall in my Scratch game to writing C programs that talk to the machine, it felt like stepping into the matrix (minus the black trench coat).

What Went Down in Week 1

Think of this week as unlocking a toolbox for programmers. The course didn’t just throw syntax at me, but also made me understand how computers see and process code. Here’s a sneak peek of what we tackled:

C and Its Roots: We dove into the oldest, most revered language in the software world. It’s like learning the secret spells of the coding realm.

Source Code vs. Machine Code: Ever wondered how your written code translates into the stuff computers understand? It’s like writing poetry that only machines can read.

Compilers: Turning human-friendly code into machine-executable code using tools like clang.

Correctness, Design, and Style: Because clean code is like a well-composed symphony — readable, elegant, and error-free.

VS Code & CLI: Mastering the command-line interface while using Visual Studio Code for actual coding. (And yes, navigating through those scary black screens gets better!)

Data Types and Variables: Making C understand the difference between an int, float, or char.

Conditionals and Loops: Solving logical puzzles using good ol' if-else statements and while loops.

Manual Pages & Libraries: Looking up documentation like a pro and using existing C libraries for extra functionality.

Operators, Overflow, and Imprecision: Dealing with unexpected behaviors like integer overflow and floating-point inaccuracies — basically, numbers getting a little drunk.

Problem Set 1 - Time to Get Hands-On

After all the brain stretching, I tackled three challenging yet rewarding problems:

Hello - The classic first step! Printing "Hello, world!" using C. It may seem small, but that tiny success sparks confidence.

Mario - Remember the pyramids in Super Mario? I recreated one using loops and hashes. Crafting that little pyramid brought back so many memories.

Cash - The task? Make a greedy algorithm to calculate change using the least number of coins. It was like being a cashier, but with coding instead of coins
.

Each problem taught me a ton about logic and how C works. And that satisfaction when the code finally ran without errors? Pure gold.

 Looking Ahead

Moving from visual coding to a text-based language like C wasn't just a learning experience; it was a mindset shift. It made me appreciate the beauty of simplicity, the elegance of algorithms, and the undeniable power of knowing what’s happening under the hood.

If you’re also exploring the world of coding, I promise it’s worth every frustrated sigh and every late-night debugging session. You’re building something incredible with every line of code.

And hey, I’d love to hear about your coding adventures! Let’s share, learn, and grow together. Feel free to reach out — the coding community is vast, but we’re all in this together.

"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." — Robert Collier

Until next time, happy coding! 🚀

LinkedIn: Great for Jobs, Not for Developer

When developers talk about networking, the first platform that comes to mind is usually LinkedIn. It's like a professional hub where people show off their resumes, accomplishments, and job opportunities. While LinkedIn is great for finding jobs, it's not so great for developers who want to make real connections and collaborate. If you're a developer looking to learn and connect with others, LinkedIn might not be the best place for that.

A Race for Attention: LinkedIn's Competitive Culture

LinkedIn feels like a constant competition. While it's fine for professionals to show off their accomplishments, it's not great for developers who are looking for mentorship, knowledge sharing, and real collaboration.

As a developer, you might find yourself scrolling through endless posts of "I did this" and "I accomplished that" without any real interaction beyond just likes and comments. Instead of being a space for teamwork, the platform creates an atmosphere where developers feel pressured to show off their achievements rather than helping each other grow.

The whole competitive vibe in the developer community often gets in the way of us connecting. Instead of sharing knowledge and learning from each other, it's all about comparing resumes, certifications, and who's got the coolest projects. This focus on individual achievements takes away from what developer culture is really about – working together, pitching in on open-source projects, and learning as a team.

LinkedIn: Great for Job Searching, Poor for Building Relationships

While LinkedIn is great for finding job opportunities, it's not so good for building real connections. It's awesome for connecting with recruiters and companies when you're job hunting, but it's not the best for forming long-term relationships, especially with developers from around the world.

As a developer, it's not enough to just add people on LinkedIn. We need communities where we can freely exchange ideas, but LinkedIn's feed is mostly about career achievements and polished profiles. It doesn't allow for in-depth discussions, sharing coding challenges, or exchanging technical insights.

 Enter dev.to: A Community-First Platform for Developers

If LinkedIn is where developers go to compete, dev.to is where developers go to collaborate. As a community created by and for developers, dev.to focuses on sharing knowledge and encouraging real discussions. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or just starting, the platform offers a space to ask questions, share insights, write tutorials, and contribute to open-source projects.

Here are a few reasons why dev.to is better for developers than LinkedIn:

Collaborative Atmosphere: Unlike LinkedIn’s competition-driven nature, dev.to encourages collaboration and sharing. Developers are more inclined to help each other solve problems or share their experiences without the pressure of "looking good" for recruiters.

Knowledge Sharing: Dev.to focuses heavily on blog posts and articles where developers share in-depth technical knowledge. Whether it’s a coding challenge, a new technology, or best practices, the community is more about learning together.

Genuine Conversations: Conversations on dev.to are often more engaging and deeper. Instead of simply liking someone’s post about landing a new job, dev.to allows for meaningful exchanges about code, tools, and technologies that developers are working on.

Open Source Friendly: Many developers on dev.to are involved in open-source projects and are more likely to connect over shared passions and coding efforts rather than career milestones.

No Recruiter Spam: LinkedIn’s heavy focus on job seekers and recruiters can often lead to spammy messages or inauthentic connections. Dev.to, on the other hand, is a place for developers to meet based on common interests and skills, not job titles.

Conclusion: Choose the Right Platform for the Right Purpose

LinkedIn is good for finding jobs and networking professionally, but it's not the best for making genuine connections as a developer. Platforms like dev.to, where collaboration, learning, and a supportive community are encouraged, are better suited for developers who want to grow together instead of competing for the spotlight.

As a developer, if your goal is to connect, learn, and contribute to a community of like-minded individuals, LinkedIn might not be the place for you. Instead, seek out communities where collaboration takes precedence, and genuine relationships can be formed—because in the end, coding is more about teamwork and less about individual success.

 Journey

First of all, I was quite happy to see the Frontend Challenge, the first one I encountered, a Landing page. Still, as I proceeded, it felt hard to find out what type of site I should build, so I opened Google and searched some sports teams' official sites, and fortunately found the Official USA Cricket team page.

Challenges Faced and How I overcame them?
Then after viewing a few sites, it became clear to me that I needed to keep it clean and from the USA official cricket team site, I got my colour palette and then It became handy.

Then, I tried to do a lot of things like using different types of layouts but didn't work as planned, then, at last, I was able to figure out my Navbar, but still, a lot was left, so I started searching around the web for some good elements, which I can use, and after searching 100s of sites, I finally got my desired one, then I just assembled them and change the content among them and our beautiful, simple, but efficient landing page is present.

New things learned

In this challenge, I learned about some amazing CSS elements and how to design them efficiently.

How we can leverage AI like ChatGPT to ease our work and do work more effectively and fast

I also learned a new thing building projects can help you learn much faster than any Tutorial or Something

Further Steps
Try to make it responsive and increase the readability.

 Team Submission

No, it's my sole Submission, but I'm open to working as a team also.

 License

This project is Under an MIT License, so it is free to use, anyone can use the code, Github Link is given

 Conclusion

Thank you #devchallenge team
