If you’ve been making content for TikTok, Reels, or YouTube Shorts, you’ve probably noticed how fast AI video tools are improving.

I’ve been testing different AI video workflows recently, and one thing became very clear: most people don’t just need “AI video generation.” They need a faster way to turn ideas into short, usable videos.

 What I think matters most

When trying AI video tools, I usually care about four things:

Speed — how fast I can go from idea to result

Simplicity — whether the tool feels easy to use

Quality — whether the output is actually usable

Flexibility — whether it supports different creation workflows

A lot of tools look impressive at first, but the real difference shows up when you try to use them repeatedly for actual content creation.

 Text-to-video vs. image-to-video

After testing both, I don’t think it’s really an either/or choice.

 Text-to-video

This is great for turning an idea into a visual concept quickly. It’s useful when you want to experiment, generate scenes fast, or test creative directions.

 Image-to-video

This feels more useful when you already have a visual asset, a character, a product image, or a reference style and want to animate it.

For creators, marketers, and people making short-form content, both workflows can be valuable depending on the goal.

Where AI video tools still fall short

The biggest issue isn’t usually generation quality alone.

It’s workflow.

Some tools can generate interesting clips, but the experience still feels fragmented:

too many steps

too much trial and error

not enough control

hard to go from idea to something publishable quickly

That’s why I think the best AI video tools will be the ones that focus less on novelty and more on usability.

A tool I found worth checking out

One tool I found interesting is AnyVideo:

It focuses on turning text and images into short AI videos with a simpler workflow, which is especially useful for short-form content creation.

 Final thought

AI video is moving fast, but the real value isn’t just “generate a clip from a prompt.”

The real value is helping creators make better short videos with less friction.

If you’re experimenting with short-form content, this space is definitely worth watching.

Have you tried any AI video tools recently? I’d be curious to know which ones actually worked well for you.
