Getting the Fingerprint Reader Working on ASUS VivoBook X1502ZA on Linux

Getting hardware to work on Linux isn't always straightforward. I ran into this problem with my ASUS VivoBook X1502ZA, where the fingerprint reader wasn't working out of the box.

I decided to investigate and create a project to help other Linux users facing the same issue.

 The project

I created a repository documenting the setup process and helping users get their fingerprint reader working:

ASUS VivoBook X1502ZA Fingerprint Fix for Linux

The setup uses AI-assisted coding tools to help guide the process. Claude is one option, but you don't need a paid Claude subscription. You can also use OpenCode with a compatible free model or provider.

 Why I built this

I wanted to make the process easier for other ASUS VivoBook X1502ZA users who are experiencing the same fingerprint reader issue.

Rather than having everyone independently troubleshoot the same hardware problem, I wanted to share my work and make it easier for others to reproduce.

 Try it out

If you own an ASUS VivoBook X1502ZA and use Linux, check out the repository:

GitHub: ASUS VivoBook X1502ZA Fingerprint Fix for Linux

Feedback, bug reports, and contributions are welcome!
