While working from home has many benefits such as better work-life balance, increased motivation, and saving money, It's no secret that most of us have a hard time focusing and concentrating on what needs to be done.

One minute you're watching a YouTube video on solving an error and the next you're on YouTube shorts watching funny videos.

Now, there are a lot of things you can do to be more productive while working from home such as having a dedicated working space, minimizing distractions, and much more but if you don't know what tasks to focus on, all these tricks can't help you be productive.

The Number Method That Will Make You Be More Productive - The Ivy Lee Method

Ivy Lee is best known as the pioneer of modern public relations and founder of the Ivy Lee method.

"The Ivy Lee method is a 100-year-old strategy of helping people become more productive at work" - Business Insider

This method involves 5 steps:

At the end of each day, write down 6 tasks you wish to accomplish the next day.

Prioritize the list items in the order of their importance.

The next day, you focus on the first task until it is completed then move to the next task.

Approach the remaining list items in the same manner. If by any chance there is an item not accomplished, move it to the next day's list.

Repeat this process every day.

This might seem like a simple fix and it is actually, but it's much harder to integrate into your daily routine.

Here are some reasons:

It's hard not to multi-task, in this age all of us are multi-taskers.

It's hard to prioritize which task is important, at least for me :)

 Conclusion

I personally have tried this method and it works wonders. It takes me less than 15 minutes each night and it makes me productive for hours.

You can read more about it in James Clear's article.

Thanks for taking your time to read this. Until next time 👋
