Why Windows Native Sleep Breaks AI Coding Agents (And How I Fixed It With 90 KB of C#)

If you run autonomous coding agents like Claude Code, Aider, or train local LLM pipelines overnight, you've likely faced this frustrating dilemma:

You want to sleep, but the agent is mid-job.

If you enable Windows default sleep, it might suspend your PC right in the middle of an API call.

If you disable sleep, you have to stay awake until 2 AM to shut down the machine manually. Otherwise, your laptop runs full-blast until morning, wasting electricity and battery health.

And if a zombie terminal process hangs at 15% CPU, Windows won't trigger idle sleep anyway.

To solve this for my own late-night workflow, I built PowerLockGuard — an ultra-lightweight (~90 KB) open-source power management tool.

 The Two Core Engines

 1. Work Watchdog (Autonomous Agent Sentinel)

Instead of relying on basic user idle timers, PowerLockGuard monitors the process trees of developer tools:

Preset tracking for
claude
,
aider
,
node
,
python
,
cargo
,
git
, and compiler tools.

Real-time CPU and RAM telemetry.

Zombie Auto-Kill: Any pegged process that stays stuck after the main task finishes is automatically terminated.

Safety Countdown: Once the monitored workload drops below threshold (e.g. 3.5% CPU) for the configured buffer (e.g. 3 minutes), a 30-second warning countdown starts before cleanly executing S3 Sleep, Hibernation, or Shutdown.

 2. Charger Guard (Power Cut & Disconnect Sentinel)

In many regions, sudden power cuts kill home/office WiFi routers instantly. If Claude Code is awaiting an API stream, a sudden network drop causes connection exceptions, token waste, and corrupted half-written files.

Charger Guard hooks into Win32 power management events. The millisecond AC power is lost, it suspends Windows into S3 Deep Sleep in under 50ms. All terminal buffers, IDE states, and agent memories remain frozen in RAM. When electricity and WiFi return, press the power button to resume right where you left off.

 Zero Bloat Philosophy

~90 KB executable: Built on .NET Framework 4.8 (present out-of-the-box on every Windows 10 & 11 machine).

Zero Dependencies: No installer, no background services, no Node/Electron bloat.

100% Offline: Zero telemetry, zero analytics, zero network requests.

 Try It Out

💻 GitHub (MIT): GMKamrussama/PowerLockGuard

🏪 Microsoft Store: Get PowerLockGuard

📦 Winget:

 winget install PowerLockGuard

Pull requests, feature ideas, and process presets are warmly welcome!

In the realm of online content creation, membership websites have emerged as a powerful tool for sharing expertise, fostering communities, and generating recurring revenue. Ghost is a popular open-source content management system, that has made it easier than ever to establish your own ghost membership website. However, one crucial aspect of membership websites is the implementation of paid tiers, a system that segments your audience and provides them with exclusive access to content and features based on their subscription level.

 Why Paid Tiers?

Paid tiers serve several valuable purposes for your membership website:

Revenue Generation: Paid tiers enable you to monetize your content and generate recurring income, providing the financial stability to continue producing high-quality content for your audience.

Content Segmentation: Paid tiers allow you to segment your audience based on their willingness and ability to pay. This enables you to tailor your content offerings to specific membership levels, ensuring that you provide value to all your subscribers.

Exclusivity and Engagement: Paid tiers introduce an element of exclusivity, creating a sense of value and distinction among premium members. This can boost engagement and loyalty among your paying audience.

 Creating Paid Tiers in Ghost

Ghost provides a straightforward process for establishing paid tiers on your membership website. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Connect with Stripe: Stripe is a popular payment processor that seamlessly integrates with Ghost, enabling you to accept payments from your members. Set up a Stripe account and connect it to your Ghost website. If you don't have a stripe account then see this post for creating a stripe account for your business.

Enable Memberships: In your Ghost admin dashboard, navigate to the Settings > Memberships tab. Enable the "Memberships" feature and select the "Stripe" payment gateway.

Create Membership Tiers: Click on the "Membership Tiers" section and choose the "+Add tier" option. Define the name, description, and price for each membership tier. You can also specify the level of access and benefits for each tier.

Customize Membership Pages: Ghost provides default pages for member registration and subscription management. You can customize these pages to match your website's branding and messaging.

 Promoting Your Paid Tiers

Once you've established your paid tiers, it's essential to promote them effectively to attract new members and encourage upgrades from existing ones. Here are some strategies:

Highlight Tier Benefits: Clearly articulate the benefits and exclusive content offered by each membership tier. Promote these benefits on your website, social media, and email marketing campaigns.

Offer Free Trials: Provide potential members with a taste of the value you offer by providing free trials for premium tiers. This can entice them to experience the benefits firsthand and convert to paying members.

Incentivize Upgrades: Encourage existing members to upgrade to higher tiers by offering additional perks, exclusive content, or discounts.

 Conclusion

Paid tiers play a pivotal role in the success of Ghost membership websites, providing revenue, content segmentation, and exclusivity. By implementing paid tiers effectively, you can monetize your expertise, engage your audience, and build a thriving membership community around your Ghost website.
