I built an open portfolio platform for digital freelancers — because a resume PDF doesn't show real work

A few months ago I was working on my thesis project and needed a place to showcase what I'd actually built — not just list technologies on a resume. Nothing I found felt right: GitHub shows code but nothing else, Behance is design-only, and most "portfolio builders" are just static templates nobody customizes.

So I built SearchTalent — a small open community platform where digital specialists (not just developers) publish real projects, write articles, and build reputation through actual community feedback instead of a like counter.

What's in it right now:

Public profiles you can deeply customize — colors, layout, block order, not a fixed template

Projects with a type-specific setup: pull a repo straight from GitHub if you're a dev, upload larger video files without quality loss if you're an editor, tag co-authors if it was a team effort

Articles, polls, and discussions — so it's not just a static gallery

A rating system where votes are confidence-weighted, so a handful of low-effort likes don't outrank a genuinely strong project

It's built for a wider range of people than just devs — designers, QA engineers, video editors, copywriters, photographers, anyone doing digital work that's hard to show in a bullet-point resume.

Right now it's a solo project, live since June, and honestly still rough around the edges in places. I've been writing career/freelance-focused articles for it (pricing your work, client agreements, structuring revisions) and slowly building out the platform itself.

🔗 searchtalent.dev

Would genuinely appreciate feedback — especially from designers, QA folks, or anyone outside pure development, since most of the current activity skews toward developers and I want to know what's missing for everyone else.
