Archivey Update: Download Feature Is Now Live 🎉

Quick update — the Download feature has officially shipped.

You can now download the archive copies directly. No more email requests.

What's been tested:

Saved pages with CSS background images, fonts, lazy-loaded images, and external links

Opened offline with network disabled — fully renders, no requests to the original host

Clicking a link with no local copy shows "not archived" instead of silently opening the live page

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on the launch post, especially the suggestions around offline verification and defensive navigation. Those helped shape this release.

The hosted portal is no longer the only way to get a copy — download is open now.

More snapshots are being added continuously. If you find bugs or missing pages, open an issue on GitHub.

Repo: RyanChenGo/archivey

v1.0 : Archivey is created
v1.1 : Latest version now : added download and tested
v1.2 : INCOMING : Adding apk for Archivey as an app

Archivey just launched on GitHub !

🚀 Building Archivey: A Lightweight, Offline-First Web Archive
Hey Dev.to community! 👋

I’m excited to introduce Archivey, an open-source project created to solve a very real challenge: preventing link-rot and preserving web history in a lightweight, offline-accessible format.

Whether it's school sports blogs, event match records, or personal history, web pages change or vanish over time. I wanted a fast, self-contained way to archive full web pages—including all images, stylesheets, and formatting—into single, independent local files without blowing through storage or bandwidth.

🛠️ How It Works
Instead of relying on heavy recursive site crawlers that download thousands of separate assets and run up mobile data caps, Archivey uses a surgical single-file snapshot strategy:

📄 Single-File Encapsulation: Captures full page state, styles, and embedded media into standalone HTML files.

🌐 GitHub Pages Portal: Access the archived snapshots directly via a clean local or hosted directory interface.

⚡ Zero External Dependencies: Works completely offline once saved.

🛡️ Defensive Navigation: Designed to catch external links and guide users safely back to local copies without triggering live site redirections.

🚧 Work in Progress Notice
Note: The project has just launched! We are actively and rapidly adding new page snapshots (covering websites seasons from 2009 through 2026 and beyond). Please be patient as the archive continues to expand!

🔗 Check It Out
🏠 Live Homepage: ryanchengo.github.io/archivey

📦 GitHub Repository: RyanChenGo/archivey

If you're interested in web archiving, offline-first applications, or local documentation systems, check out the repository!

⭐ If you like the concept, leave a star on GitHub to support the project! Feel free to drop feedback or ideas in the comments below!

P.S.
You cannot actually download the copies , you need to contact me by email to download it ... (See more in github readme)
