Hi everyone,

I would like to add something using three.js in my portfolio.

I only have been coding for 6 months and just finished a certificate in full stack development.

I have built my portfolio using react. I will soon begin my job search. However, i am fascinated by three.js and wanted to showcase my curiosity in my portfolio. I created this sphere that shows my current tech stack. But I am not sure if it looks good under "about me" section.

please see screenshot and give me some feedback. Should I go ahead with the sphere or do something else to show my tech stack or add the sphere at the end next to contact me section ( but a normal sphere , it wont have the tech stack).

I appreciate your help, thankyou.

Hello Dev Community!

I hope you all had a great weekend! I spent some time diving into a fun personal project and thought I'd share it with you all. As a huge Game of Thrones fan, I decided to create a trivia app to challenge myself with some JavaScript, and the result is a simple yet exciting trivia game featuring questions from the world of Westeros!

What is the app about?

The app is a trivia quiz focused on Game of Thrones—the legendary TV series based on George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books. Players will get a series of multiple-choice questions about the show, and their goal is to answer correctly. The questions cover everything from character lore to major plot points, testing your knowledge of the Seven Kingdoms!

But here’s the fun part—the app plays the iconic Game of Thrones theme song while you’re playing. Talk about immersing yourself in Westeros, right?

Why Vanilla JavaScript?

I wanted to build this app with vanilla JavaScript to challenge myself and improve my foundational web development skills. While there are tons of libraries and frameworks available, I felt it was important to stick to the basics.

The app's structure is simple and easy to follow:

HTML to structure the app.

CSS for basic styling and theming (using a Game of Thrones-inspired color palette).

Vanilla JavaScript for interactivity, quizzes, and the theme song feature.

Key Features:

Multiple-choice questions: A set of questions with 4 answer choices each.

Interactive UI: Simple, clean design with responsive layout for all screen sizes.

Timer: Players have a limited time to answer each question.

Game of Thrones theme song: The iconic theme music plays while the quiz runs.

Score tracker: See how well you know Westeros at the end of the game.

What’s Next?

While the app is functional and fun, there are definitely areas I’m planning to improve. Some future ideas include:

Adding a leaderboard to track top scorers.

Implementing more complex animations and transitions for a more dynamic experience.

Expanding the question database to include A Song of Ice and Fire book references.

Sharing the code on GitHub for others to contribute to.

Why You Should Check It Out

Whether you're a fan of Game of Thrones or just looking for a fun challenge, this trivia app offers a great way to pass the time. Plus, it's a solid project to learn and play around with JavaScript if you’re new to development!

You can check out the app here: [https://algomystique.github.io/Game-Of-Thrones-Trivia-App]

I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or ideas on how to make it better! Feel free to reach out or leave a comment.

Until next time 👋

Render, Heroku, or Vercel: Which One Should You Choose for Your Next Project? 🚀

Hey everyone!👋

Choosing the right platform to deploy our applications can really make or break our development experience. Today, I want to compare three popular options: Render, Heroku, and Vercel. Each has its own strengths, and whether you’re building a backend service or a sleek frontend app, one might be the perfect fit for your needs. Let’s dive in!💻✨

Overview of Each Platform:

Render: Render is a modern cloud platform that makes it super easy to deploy web applications and services. With features like automatic scaling and managed databases, it’s great for developers who want to focus on building rather than infrastructure management.🛠️

Heroku: As one of the pioneers in the PaaS world, Heroku provides a solid ecosystem for deploying and managing applications across various languages. It’s user-friendly and has a rich marketplace for add-ons, but keep an eye on pricing if your app grows.💡

Vercel: If you’re into frontend frameworks and static sites, Vercel is your go-to. It shines when it comes to deploying JAMstack applications and integrates seamlessly with tools like Next.js. Plus, it offers a fantastic free tier for smaller projects!🌟

Key Comparisons:

Ease of Use:

Render: Clean interface and straightforward deployment make it a breeze to get started.🚀

Heroku: Known for its simplicity, especially for newcomers. The CLI is intuitive, and deploying is a snap.🥳

Vercel: Extremely user-friendly for frontend developers, with easy Git integration for quick updates.🔄

Performance:

_Render:_Excellent performance with auto-scaling, ideal for high-traffic backend applications.⚡

Heroku: Good performance, but scaling can sometimes slow things down on lower-tier plans.⏳

Vercel: Optimized for speed, especially with static sites and serverless functions thanks to automatic edge caching.🏎️

Pricing:

Render: Transparent pricing with a free tier, though costs can increase with advanced features.💰

Heroku: Free tier available, but be cautious of rising costs with add-ons and dyno scaling.📈

Vercel: Generous free tier, especially for small projects, making it budget-friendly.👍

Scalability:

Render: Effortlessly scales with built-in load balancing, perfect for backend applications.🌐

Heroku: Scales well, but manual adjustments may be needed as your app grows.🔧

Vercel: Great for scaling static and serverless applications with ease.🚀

Which One Should You Choose?

After weighing the features, ease of use, performance, and pricing, I’d say Render comes out on top for a wide range of applications, especially for backend services. Here’s why:

Balanced Features: Render offers a sweet spot of simplicity and performance, making it versatile for projects of all sizes.🌈

Cost-Effectiveness: The pricing model is straightforward, so you won’t get any nasty surprises as your app scales.😌

Developer Experience: Render focuses on minimizing friction, letting you concentrate on building awesome features.🙌

If you’re leaning towards frontend frameworks and serverless functions, definitely give Vercel a look. And for traditional backend applications, Heroku still holds strong with its established ecosystem.💪

Ultimately, your best choice depends on your project requirements. For a balanced, scalable solution, Render is my top pick. For frontend-focused projects, consider Vercel, and for classic backend apps, Heroku remains a solid option. Each platform has its perks, so choose the one that fits your development goals best! 🎯

I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences with these platforms in the comments! Happy coding!🌟💻

Hello Dev Community!

I'm excited to share my latest project:

Particle Systems with Acceleration and Friction!

A particle system built using HTML5 canvas and vanilla JavaScript, showcasing real-world physics principles.

🎮 Live Demo:

Check out the live demo here to see the particles in action!

https://algomystique.github.io/ParticleSystems-Physics

🔑 Key Features:

Fully Responsive Canvas: The canvas adjusts dynamically to different screen sizes while maintaining functionality.

Particle Interaction: Particles respond to mouse events, like clicks, with realistic movement and collisions.

Physics-Based Movement: Acceleration and friction create smooth, realistic motion for the particles.

🔍 How It Works

Canvas Setup: A responsive HTML5 canvas initializes, generating random particles with positions, velocities, and accelerations.

Particle Motion: Each particle’s velocity is updated by its acceleration, with friction applied to simulate resistance.

Rendering: Every frame, particles are drawn on the canvas, updating positions based on motion laws.

Mouse Interaction: Particles react to mouse movement or clicks, accelerating away or towards the pointer.

🛠 Technologies Used

HTML5 Canvas
CSS3
Vanilla JavaScript

I’d love your feedback, suggestions, or any contributions! Check it out on GitHub: [https://github.com/AlgoMystique/ParticleSystems-Physics].

Hey everyone,

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve developed a chat application using Node.js, React, and Socket.io! 🎉 It was an incredible learning experience, and I’m proud of how it turned out. The app allows real-time messaging, and I’ve implemented features like user authentication and chat rooms.

Now that I’ve built it, I’m looking to deploy it for free, but I could use some guidance. If anyone has experience with deploying apps using these technologies, I would love your recommendations! Here are a few specific questions I have:

What free hosting platforms work best for Node.js and React?

How do I set up the deployment for Socket.io?

Any tips for ensuring smooth performance and scalability?

I appreciate any insights or resources you can share! Let’s connect and discuss—happy to hear from anyone with experience in this area.

Thanks for your support, and I can’t wait to share the live version soon!

Hello, everyone!

I’m excited to share my journey as I dive into the world of software engineering! I recently completed a diploma in IT and am currently taking a summer course to enhance my coding skills. So far, I’ve been learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, MongoDB, Express, Web APIs, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). It’s been a whirlwind of information, but I’m loving every minute of it!

In addition to my coursework, I’m working on a personal project to build my own eCommerce website using the MERN stack, and I’m integrating Stripe for payments. It’s challenging but incredibly rewarding to see my ideas come to life!

To further prepare for a career as a software engineer, I’m also practicing on LeetCode to sharpen my problem-solving skills and tackle technical interview questions. I believe mastering algorithms and data structures is crucial for success in this field.

I’d love to connect with others who are on a similar path! Have any of you attended bootcamps or summer courses? I’d love to hear your experiences and whether they’ve helped you in your coding journey. Your insights could really guide me as I navigate this exciting field!

Feel free to share your tips, resources, or project ideas. I’m looking forward to learning from this amazing community and sharing my progress along the way!
