“Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as a platform, and any attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform.”– Tim O’ Reilly.

It’s an improved version of the first worldwide web, characterized specifically by the change from static to dynamic or user-generated content and also the growth of social media.

The concept behind Web 2.0 refers to rich web applications, web-oriented architecture, and social web. It refer to changes in the ways web pages are designed and used by the users, without any change in any technical specifications.

Web 3.0 is the upcoming third generation of the internet where websites and apps will be able to process information in a smart human-like way through technologies like machine learning (ML), Big Data, decentralized ledger technology (DLT), etc. Web 3.0 was originally called the Semantic Web by World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee, and was aimed at being a more autonomous, intelligent, and open internet. Web 3 is the technology that houses the blockchain

Below are the distinctions between Web 2 and Web 3

Web 3 is a fully decentralized platform which means every participant have a shared copy and governed by the community while web 2 is controlled and governed by the platform owners.

Personal data and information are secured and can not be accessed by anyone on the platform hence made the platform safe while in Web 2, personal data can be accessed, sold and reused for commercial purpose.

Example of web 3 platforms are Steemit, Diaspora, Augur, Opensea, Everledger among many others while examples of Web 2 platforms are Facebook, Twitter, Binance, Upwork

You can learn more about the web3 space just by enrolling on Blockgame for an in-depth training powered by Nestcoin in partnership with Zuri Team

HNG Internship is an initiative of Hotels.ng which has metamorphosed into a long-running large scale virtual internship for people learning to code and design. It's main focus is on post-training phase hereby creating a virtual workspace for its participants. Participants eagerly anticipate the kickoff of the program that has followings/participants from everywhere across the globe.
The internship is currently managed and coordinated by Zuri.team.

The scope of the internship is to unveil the best talent it can find in the tech space/world through subjection of its participants to some real world digital product development practices, team collaboration and fast-paced learning.

This eight edition of the internship would feature the following tracks:

Frontend

Backend

Mobile

DevOps

Digital Marketing

Entrepreneurship.

As a participant of this year's edition, my goals are as follows:

Increase my network of friends who build digital products

Have fun while building digital products that would sharpen the lives of millions of users

Challenge myself to finish as one of the finalist on the NodeJS backend track.

Success during the internship requires but not limited to the following:

An understanding and working knowledge of git and how it works. You can get started with git here.

Basic knowledge of figma. You can get up and running here.

How to write a basic markup for a webpage using HTML. Learn the basic of html here.

Basic knowledge of simple server setup using NodeJS is essential for a participant on the backend track. You can learn how this is done here
