Most AI outputs don't fail because the model lacks intelligence. They fail because the prompt lacks direction.

When you give vague inputs, the model has to guess your intentions—leading to generic, surface-level responses.

A simple, repeatable framework to fix this is the SDS Method:

1. S — Set the Stage
Provide the background before jumping into the request. Define your role, the core goal, and the critical context the model needs to understand the scenario.

2. D — Define the Task
Be direct and unambiguous about what you actually want it to execute. Specify whether it should write, analyze, structure, or brainstorm.

3. S — Specify the Rules
Establish clear guardrails. State your preferred tone, exact output format, length limits, and include reference examples if you have a specific standard in mind.

The Rule of Thumb:
Treat the AI like a capable coworker. Be clear, specific, and purposeful with your brief—better inputs naturally drive better results.

Do you use a structured framework when prompting, or do you mostly iterate on the fly?
