“AI is making us dumb.”

“We shouldn’t rely on ChatGPT for everything.”

“Real intelligence comes from struggle, not shortcuts.”

You’ve probably seen these statements across blogs, social media, or even heard them in casual conversations. And truth be told, they’re not entirely wrong. AI should not be a replacement for thinking — it should be an aid, a tool. But here’s where the contradiction creeps in...

 🪞 The Convenient Contradiction

Many people talk about limiting AI usage, yet they use AI to write those very posts warning others not to. Irony much?

It’s like saying, “Don’t drink too much coffee” — while sipping a large Americano.

Yes, over-relying on AI can weaken critical thinking, but let’s not act like searching on Google is somehow nobler. Why is using ChatGPT to get answers called "downgrading our brain" while Googling the same question is “research”?

🧠 Using AI vs. Using Google — What’s the Real Difference?

When we’re stuck, what’s the first thing we usually do?

Google it.

Ask on Stack Overflow.

Watch a YouTube tutorial.

Post on a forum.

And somehow, these are all considered okay — even productive. But if you use AI for the same purpose? You’re “cheating.” Why the double standard?

If you think ChatGPT is making people lazy, then let’s be honest: Google, too, has been doing that for decades. The only difference is the format and speed.

🧩 The Real Problem Isn’t AI — It’s How You Use It

Let’s get something clear:

AI is just a tool. Not a threat. Not a savior. Just a tool.

❌ Copying and pasting solutions from ChatGPT or Google without understanding them? That’s lazy.

✅ Asking AI for help, analyzing the explanation, applying it with your own logic? That’s learning.

We should not blindly trust any source — be it AI, Google, YouTube, or even our mentors. The first and strongest source should always be your own thinking.

💡 My Takeaway for You (and for Me)

Here’s the approach I follow, and I’d encourage you to do the same:

Try it yourself first. Flex your brain. Struggle a bit. It’s healthy.

Stuck? Good — that’s when learning really begins.

Seek help — whether it’s Google, ChatGPT, a mentor, or a book.

Don’t stop there. Analyze the help. Dissect the answer. Understand it fully.

Then build your own version of the solution.

Use AI to sharpen your thinking, not to avoid it.

 🙌 Final Thought

Let’s stop shaming people for using tools. Instead, let’s focus on how they’re using them.

Don’t blindly follow ChatGPT.

Don’t blindly follow Google either.

Use your brain first, then let the tools assist your growth.

If you agree (or even disagree), I’d love to hear your perspective. Let’s have a real, honest conversation about how we use technology — and how it’s shaping the way we think.

🗨️ Have you ever felt judged for using AI to solve a problem or write something?

💬 Drop your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks for reading 🙏
