As a student, I usually come across startups through LinkedIn posts, college communities, or random conversations. Most of them are either AI, SaaS, fintech, or something related to apps.

Recently, I came across a post about climate technology that caught my attention.

I ended up checking out the company behind it — Carbelim — and honestly, it made me look at carbon emissions from a slightly different perspective.

We hear terms like Net Zero, Carbon Neutrality, ESG, Carbon Capture, and Decarbonization all the time. But I never really thought about what happens to the carbon that industries are already producing.

That's where things got interesting.

So, what is carbon capture?

In simple terms, carbon capture is about capturing CO₂ before it continues contributing to atmospheric emissions, and then managing that captured carbon appropriately.

There are different approaches to this, including capturing emissions directly from industrial processes and technologies designed to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere.

What caught my attention about Carbelim is that they're working in this broader carbon-management space, rather than treating sustainability as just another reporting exercise.

Why did this catch my attention as a student?

Because climate technology is not just about environmental science anymore.

It involves:

Industrial systems
Software
Automation
Business models
Policy and compliance

That combination is something I hadn't really considered before.

As someone learning about technology and startups, it was interesting to see how a company can take a problem as large as carbon emissions and approach it through technology and industrial solutions.

The bigger picture

One thing I've started realizing is that the climate-tech space is going to need much more than awareness.

We already know carbon emissions are a problem.

The harder question is:

What can we actually build to deal with it?

That's where startups like Carbelim become interesting to follow.

I'm not writing this as an expert in carbon capture, and I'm definitely still learning about the subject. I just found the intersection of technology + industry + climate interesting enough to share.
