From Feeling Lost to Building Software: My Self-Taught Web Development Journey By Sanu Builds

Sanu Singh — Wed, 29 Jul 2026 06:28:10 +0000

There was a time when I had no direction.

I wasn't a programmer, I wasn't a designer, and I had no technical background. I spent most of my time doing things that added no value to my future. Deep inside, I felt like I wasn't capable of achieving anything meaningful.

Every night, I questioned myself.

"What am I supposed to do with my life?"

I didn't have the answer.

The Opportunity That Changed Everything

One day, a friend called me and said someone wanted a website built.

I immediately replied, "I don't know how to build websites."

That conversation changed my life.

It made me curious about something I had never thought about before.

How are websites actually built?

I started asking questions.

I met people who introduced me to the world of programming.

For the first time, I heard words like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.

I had no idea that these technologies were behind almost every website I used every day.

Writing My First Line of Code

That night, I opened my laptop and started watching an HTML course.

I wrote my very first line of code.

When I refreshed the browser and saw my own webpage appear on the screen, something changed inside me.

For the first time in a long time, I felt excited about learning.

I kept going.

HTML became CSS.

CSS became JavaScript.

JavaScript led me to backend development with PHP.

Today, I'm continuing my journey by learning Python because technology never stops evolving.

Tutorials Were Only the Beginning

Watching videos helped me understand concepts, but real learning happened when I started building projects.

My first website wasn't perfect.

I made mistakes.

I broke things.

I spent hours debugging simple problems.

But every bug made me a better developer.

I realized that programming isn't about memorizing syntax.

It's about learning how to solve problems.

Working with Real Clients

As my confidence grew, I began building websites and Android applications for real clients.

Every project taught me something new.

Some projects introduced unexpected bugs.

Some required better security.

Some pushed me to learn technologies I had never used before.

Those challenges forced me to improve instead of staying comfortable.

The Birth of Sanu Builds

As I completed more projects, I wanted to create something bigger than freelance work.

That's when I started Sanu Builds.

For me, Sanu Builds is more than a name.

It's a commitment to continuous learning, quality software, and helping businesses build better digital products.

Every website, every application, and every project is another opportunity to improve.

Lessons I Learned

If you're starting your journey today, here's what I want you to remember:

Don't wait until you know everything.
Build projects as early as possible.
Make mistakes and learn from them.
Stay consistent, even on difficult days.
Never stop learning.

Technology changes every day.

The best developers are not the ones who know everything.

They are the ones who never stop learning.

Final Thoughts

Looking back, I never imagined that curiosity would completely change my life.

One question...

One tutorial...

One line of code...

That was enough to start a journey that continues today.

And I'm still just getting started.
